Is this possible? - FPS-russia blowing stuff up with sniperrifle
Zipper5 replied to johanna's topic in OFFTOPIC
I wouldn't consider myself a "COD kid", though I'd be lying if I said I haven't played any of the recent COD games. Nonetheless, I still enjoy his videos. :) Though I think you have it right as to why he's popular, it's simply a guy with a sense of humor and a Russian accent using a variety of weapons to blow things up. Personally, I find that quite entertaining. :p -
Just joined Twitter as Rexxenexx, was wondering if you can list the BIS staff
Zipper5 replied to Rexxenexx's topic in BOHEMIA INTERACTIVE - GENERAL
I'm also on Google+, though I must admit I haven't been posting on it very much. -
No, you will only get the German language option if you own the German version of ARMA 2.
-
You can also purchase the German version of ARMA 2: Reinforcements here, which includes ARMA 2: British Armed Forces & ARMA 2: Private Military Company with German subtitles. You cannot download German versions of the DLCs.

Ah, so you visited the real-life Everon. ;)

I think you just set the forum record, serfinaR. Thread locked.

MultiDiscussion : TES5: Skyrim, BattleField 3, COD, R6 etc.
Zipper5 replied to Second's topic in OFFTOPIC - Games & Gaming
Not quite. When I knew them, the majority of the most skilled ARMA 2 players I ever met were running on PCs that barely ran the game that well at lowest settings. Same with ARMA. -
Bohemia Interactive's future ARMA 3!

I'd imagine it's because VBS2 had already proven the ease of using PhysX with the RealVirtuality engine. -
[] exec "script.sqs"
Zipper5 replied to eymerich's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
More like he's been scripting since OFP. I'd imagine he knows a few things. Personally, if the community hadn't moved on to SQS I'd still be scripting in it. It's significantly easier to use and I've been using it for longer (I only learned SQF after ARMA 2 came out, whereas I'd been using SQS since the OFP days). Though, now I think I'd have to retrain myself in its use as I've forgotten all of the syntax pretty much. -
Wtf is this? error compiling pixel shader PSSpecularAlpha:0
Zipper5 replied to solidsnake2384's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
You've moved the beta exe out of its folder and replaced the normal exe with it, yes? That way Steam Overlay will work? Because if you were linking to the normal exe in that shortcut it wouldn't work correctly with the Steam version. Check the details of the exe your target line is pointing to and see if its version is 1.59.79384, and if it isn't then you've replaced your normal exe with the beta one. If you have done that and haven't backed up your normal exe then just validate OA's cache using Steam and it should re-download the proper one. If you no longer have the beta exe in its folder, then you need to re-download the beta patch you were trying to use, delete your beta folder and reinstall it. Once that's done the best way to get it to work properly is to use the _runA2CO_beta.cmd file in your OA root directory. Personally, I have a bunch of my own bat files set up to run various mods of my choosing. Here's one, for example: SETLOCAL ENABLEEXTENSIONS set _EXE=C:\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\Expansion\beta\arma2oa.exe set _A2=C:\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 set _PROFILES=C:\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\Profiles set _MODS=D:\ARMA 2\ call "%_EXE%" -noSplash -showScriptErrors "-profiles=%_PROFILES%" "-name=Zipper5" "-world=Desert_E" "-mod=%_A2%;Expansion;CA;Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\expansion;%_MODS%@CBA;%_MODS%@ACEX_SM;%_MODS%@Blastcore_Visuals_R1.2;%_MODS%@PROPER;%_MODS%@TrueUser;%_MODS%@VFTCAS" ENDLOCAL Edit: Never mind about the not being able to directly link to the exe thing I posted, just tested and it seems you can. Still, the only time this error has come up is when someone's using the beta patch incorrectly. -
BIS at the Games Developer Conference?
Zipper5 replied to daman3's topic in BOHEMIA INTERACTIVE - GENERAL
BI have already announced that they are attending Gamescom in Cologne between the 17th and 19th of August. Whether or not they will also attend GDC on the 17th is unknown. -
CM Operation Flashpoint 3 announced | "Oops, they're doing it again..."
Zipper5 replied to Undeceived's topic in OFFTOPIC
Because you, and perhaps your friends if they share your opinion, are the only ones who had such low expectations for both games. And yes, in today's day and age of games, your expectations for these games have been damn low. So low you'd almost be happy if it were just Call of Duty under OFP's name. -
We have had this exact same discussion at least two times before. No need for more. You will hear more if BI ever announce that they're making a console version of any of their games. Thread locked.
-
Unless you can provide proof stating that all console games are locked at 30 FPS, they are not. I have a console, I've played many games on that console, and many of them run at 60 FPS. The Call of Duty games are specifically engineered to run at 60 FPS on consoles, but DICE are not afraid to have the better looking game but have it run at 30 FPS. And yes, there is a huge difference for me between playing, say, MW2 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 on my PS3 at 720p.
-
I believe he's referring to Gamescom, where ARMA 3 will be shown along with Take On Helicopters and Carrier Command.

Please search before posting as this question has been asked and answered many times. Whatever mission you are trying to play requires ARMA 2, and since you are getting that error I presume you only own ARMA 2: Operation Arrowhead and possibly the DLCs. The error will only go away once you purchase, install and run ARMA 2. Also, please try to post in the correct place as this is clearly a Troubleshooting issue yet it was posted in the General section by yourself. I'll move it to the correct location. -
Most likely, but not yet confirmed.
-
No, they aren't. Who told you that? Activision recently said itself that the 60 FPS that Call of Duty games runs at on consoles "gives it the edge". Besides that, I own a PS3 and can say for certain that MW2 runs at 60 FPS on it.
-
MW2 and all other COD games are made to run at 60 FPS on consoles. I'm perfectly fine running ARMA 2 at a framerate below 30 so long as it doesn't go below 15.

Mods. Are they really worth the hassle?
Zipper5 replied to pipscouse's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Adding mods is easier than most other games and there are resources stating how to do it. Most good readmes for most mods give you instructions on how to do it too. Granted, it's perhaps not as easy as it could be, but it's not exactly mind-bendingly hard. I said this in another thread complaining about the same thing, but if you think installing and uninstalling mods in ARMA 2 is difficult then I wouldn't bother doing it for any other game. In all my forays into modding in different games (Source games, STALKER series, GTA IV, Crysis, and many others) I haven't come across a mod system as easy as BI's. Now, the management of mods in MP is definitely not worth it. At least, not in public play. I too hope this gets improved either by server admins making it easier to get the mods their servers are using, servers only using mods that actually make a big enough difference to the gameplay to warrant the hassle of installing them, and a better system of displaying what mods are being used on a server and perhaps even an auto-mod-download service. -
As above. Thread locked.

ARMA 3 inverview with Dwarden / David Foltyn (me :)
Zipper5 replied to Dwarden's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
"Ditch the future stuff" when it's this far into development already. Right... Someone obviously doesn't understand how things work. Some of you may continue to throw hissy fits about the futuristic setting, but many more of us are looking forward to it. Frankly, I think the art style of ARMA 3 looks cooler than most other military-based games out at the moment, or up-coming ones. And Ghost Recon is not futuristic crap. That's Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter. Yeah, Armaholic commenters are quickly becoming the YouTube commenters of this community. -
I bought a hard copy of ARMA 2 off of Amazon.co.uk and had it shipped to me. After that, I got OA, BAF and PMC on Sprocket when they were released. I now have all of them on Steam instead. Before ARMA 2, I bought a hard copy of ARMA on Amazon.co.uk and had it shipped to me, and then purchased QG through Metaboli. I now have ARMA: Gold Edition on Steam. And before that, I originally got OFP shipped to me from Amazon.co.uk, then OFP: Gold Edition, then OFP: Resistance and then the PC Gamer GOTY version. Now I have ARMA: Cold War Assault on Steam instead.

Actually, it would appear logical discussions are hard to come by on these forums nowadays. Thread locked.

I can't believe this thread was spawned from a YouTube comment, let alone a YouTube comment that was actually taken seriously. :butbut:
