Anyone who claims BIS have no respect for the wishes of their community is doing nothing more than trolling. Don't feed the trolls.

I'm a volunteer moderator, therefore it's not "my game". The reason so few play it online is not only because of the animations, it's also because there's so little variety in mission choices and the only way to get such variety is to join a clan, which most won't be willing to do for various reasons. Sure, a better animation system may bring more to the game, but really only in the competitive multiplayer scene I would think. What? Press W, you're jogging. Double tap left shift and then press W, you're walking. Missing your target while walking? Aim better or, you know, stop walking. :p Sorry, but I've been playing this game since its release and the only two times I see my gun forced down is when I view the map (and this is an intentional design choice) or when I sprint from the crouched position (this is a bug, but it's really not that hard to avoid). Are you playing with mods or something? Pressing B brings up the binoculars, pressing B again puts them away. I don't see any point in which it blocks my vision unless you mean for that split half a second that the binocular object is visible in first person as you bring them up and put them away. I'm not denying there's things wrong with the game, especially not in regards to the animation system, but what you're saying is wrong with the game simply sounds like inexperience. The animations, though not flawless, are not uncontrollable and as I said, I've been playing this game since launch, and ArmA and OFP before it, in both competitive and cooperative MP environments. So by your definition, animation troubles force the game into a beta state?

You obviously don't know how BIS operate. ;) If animations make a game entirely unplayable for you then you're in the wrong gaming genre anyways.

Regarding the Private Military DLC...graphic issues or just me?
Zipper5 replied to stefos71's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
If you haven't bought the PMC DLC then you're viewing PMC Lite, which as others have said is deliberately lower quality but still included to ensure MP compatibility. If that's not what you're seeing then please provide a screenshot that demonstrates this "sunwashed" effect. -
Firstly, thanks for spreading the word that you guys aren't the culprit. We wouldn't want any bad feelings towards people who aren't actually doing what they're accused of. :) However, in the future I would recommend you refrain from indicating such anger towards the cheater and his partner, as well as over-dramatizing what they're doing. Most of the time it just gives them a sense of self-fulfillment, propelling them to continue what they're doing as you are essentially providing them reassurance that it's working. Two cheaters are not going to destroy this community, no matter how much they might wish it. Like the other cheaters that like to have short stints at "terrorizing" BIS' multiplayer, ban them each time you come across them, then ignore them. They'll get bored and go to the next game. ;)

GPU = Graphics Processing Unit (graphics card) CPU = Central Processing Unit (processor) Out of the specs you listed, the only thing that may not have to change is what you listed as "Memory", which I believe is your RAM (Random-Access Memory), but even then it's a little on the weak side if its frequency is low. Your processor and graphics card are a little too weak to run Arma 2 at the settings you desire. If you're willing to sacrifice image quality for performance, try turning all your ingame graphics settings to their lowest setting and then play around with them until you find the "sweet spot" between image quality and performance.

By all means, take a look at how BIS coded them and see if you can do it better. ;)

Missing Operation Serpent and Crimson Lance Official Missions
Zipper5 replied to JuggernautOfWar's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
Sounds like it might be outdated or missed information, actually. The missions_baf.pbo in the Common folder does not contain either of those missions, so unless they're in the encrypted one under the BAF mod folder, they don't exist. I hypothesize that they were not included due to the lack of Warfare vehicles and objects for the BAF faction, but don't take my word for it. -
ARMA 2: OA beta build 78927
Zipper5 replied to mr_centipede's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
OFP came with modes like Deathmatch and Sector Control, both of which had respawn in them. -
arma 2 is their a way to get arma2 stuff in arma 2 oa
Zipper5 replied to mikemike664's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
It would be illegal to obtain Arma 2 content any other way. ;) -
Definitely the pistol bug at work here.

ARMA 2: OA beta build 78927
Zipper5 replied to mr_centipede's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
Mods like ACE2 exist for those who want the most realistic experience the engine can give them. Arma 2 is realistic, but it's still a game, and the key to such a formula is a balance of "arcade" and realism. Too much "arcade" and you think you're playing Call of Duty, too much realism and it stops being fun for many. For example, I love Arma 2, and I'm not a huge fan of VBS2. Better animations is not going to make the game "arcadey". It's also always there in the large coops that are exclusively played nowadays. You realize it was there when OFP launched, yes? And if they keep listening to people such as yourself it'll stop being fun for many, including myself. It's not so black and white, you see. ;) Been messing around with the changes made in the last two betas and I'm very happy with the current animations, plus I'm extremely grateful for the removal of the performance drop when zooming in. Thanks BIS! But what are the sneaky changes bxbx mentioned earlier? -
Japan hit by 9.0-magnitude earthquake and tsunami

http://edition.cnn.com/2011/WORLD/asiapcf/03/12/japan.nuclear/index.html?hpt=T1 And one of the plant buildings just literally exploded, radiation inside the reactor is 1,000 times the normal amount. :( -
http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php Changelog: I have a question, however: is this build for after the 1.58RC or should we revert to a previous version?

CM Operation Flashpoint 3 announced | "Oops, they're doing it again..."

Oh I do, I just never expected it would have Operation Flashpoint in the title. :p -
CM Operation Flashpoint 3 announced | "Oops, they're doing it again..."
Zipper5 replied to Undeceived's topic in OFFTOPIC
Well, the ride in the HMMWV lasted only 1 minute, and then the guy starts screaming "Out! Get out of the vehicles!" over the radio with a couple tracers coming at them from the distance. I took it to mean an ambush, unless they were seriously going that head-on and that exposed towards a known enemy position, but I wouldn't put that past Codemasters. -

This, along with more and/or higher frequency RAM. -

Zipper5 replied to Undeceived's topic in OFFTOPIC
Lens flare in first person. I guess the guy isn't looking through his eyes, but through a camera lens. Still got unlimited sprint too. And is it just me, or was that one of the most underwhelming ambush scenes you've ever seen? -
Changing CPU (pentium d 805 to e6600)
Zipper5 replied to Plissken's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
A strong CPU is nothing without a decent GPU to back it up, and vice versa. I wouldn't prioritize one over the other. -
Statistics of players on the server site
Zipper5 replied to Sower79's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - Servers & Administration
Arma 2 doesn't have a stats nor ranking system. Any mission you play online that has them is restricted to that mission only. Also, this is not the right place for this to be posted. Moving. -
Crysis 2 PC Demo [Download link]
Zipper5 replied to jblackrupert's topic in OFFTOPIC - Games & Gaming
Every pre-release beta/demo has the same issues these days. It's no longer just an issue of not anticipating the demand. Those tweaks sound interesting, might make it more enjoyable. Doesn't change the fact it's a blatant console port in its demo state though, and given that the game won't ship with DX11 it won't be much better at release either. -
Let's try to not start off a thread by insulting a (rather large) group of people. Mm'kay? ;) As for my hobby... Arma 2. :p
-
The point being is posting simply to ask if there's any news, especially in a situation where any news from the team in question would be hard to miss, is not allowed here. Anyways, let's not clutter up the team's thread anymore, shall we? :)

The launcher-related speeds appear to be back to how they were before the 1.58RC, Beagle. If they're too fast for you, well, then they've always been too fast. :p
