  1. As mentioned many times on this forum, Fresh![NUTZ], the "awkward green space" is temporary. I presume you're talking about what you see on the edges of the map? BIS have said it's likely that it will be changed in a future release or patch, most likely the 505 Games release of ArmA II. Plus, Chernarus is a lot more believable than Sahrani, and I may argue that it's more believable than any of the OFP islands (though they were pretty damn awesome themselves) so deviating from islands is a plus for me.
  2. Might want to watch your picture file-sizes. ;)

    Snow campaign..

Good to know, but ArmA II's only been out for 9 days. Mods of the size you're talking about take very long to make. Definitely more than 9 days. However, we'll no doubt see winter mods in the distant future.

    Think ive triggered FADE

Create a new folder inside C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2 and call it @English. Inside it, create an AddOns and Dta folder. Place the language patch files into the proper folders as stated in the readme. Then go to your ArmA II shortcut and add to the end -mod=@English. That will launch it as a mod folder. Replace the backed-up German language files in the folders they used to be in too. That way FADE won't activate.

    AT-Glasses pack

Wow, great idea. That looks really cool. And yet another cool feature that BIS has introduced to make this game even better. :D

    Think ive triggered FADE

Well, if the English patch works as a mod folder, then let me say this: Use the English patch as a mod folder!

    Think ive triggered FADE

Has anyone tried using the English patch(es) as a mod rather than actually replacing the files? If you do you wouldn't accidentally overwrite the original ones and it would still work and not trigger FADE.

    FP : DR - News & Discussion

It depends on how far you call it a new game, D@nte. DR has already crossed the line going from "sequel" to "entirely new game". And I don't mean that in a good way. My impression of the game has gone downhill the more that they show of it. I have yet to see any video that is actual gameplay and in the so-called "Hardcore" mode. This is such a "new" game that it shouldn't be called Operation Flashpoint.

    Skip a mission

Nothing comes up. Just press the keys together, release them and type it. It'll work. For the CAMPAIGN cheat, you must be on the campaign screen. For the MISSIONS cheat, you must be on the Missions screen and for the ENDMISSION cheat you must be in a mission.

    Skip a mission

It's actually LEFT SHIFT + NUMBER PAD -, then release and type CAMPAIGN. That will make all missions in the campaign show up. You can also do LEFT SHIFT + NUMBER PAD -, release and type ENDMISSION to end the mission you are currently playing.

    Has the "beta" policy changed?

Hey, if you're not German and/or living in Germany, this version wasn't even intended for you. You decided to buy it before the European release. If you had done substantial research you would see that the European/American releases of BIS have been the more stable and finished ones, and that the Czech and German versions have not been. It's strange that so many people who aren't German are complaining about the state of the game when they went out of their way to buy a version that wasn't intended for them. :butbut:

Wow, that artillery really came quite quickly... Man, CM is hoping this is what OFP fans want? Jesus. It looks like Battlefield 2 crossed with COD4. The interface is either identical or a rip-off. What I found really quite strange is why was the character speaking with an accent? I'm guessing he's not American then. All in all - sounds suck, radio sounds more like mashed together sound files than OFP, ArmA and ArmA II sound like, a shitty look and unrealistic aspects everywhere. Definitely a no buy for me. Shall wait for reviews instead.
  13. While the AI driving skills in ArmA 1 aren't perfect, I haven't had any major issues with it and I've been playing the game since it's release. The aircraft do crash once in a while, but I honestly can't see what all the fuss is about over their flying skills. The AI in ArmA II, however, have shown significant improvements. They're doing things that I would never have dreamed possible as of v1.01. I don't personally own the game as I'm waiting out for the 505 Games version, but the videos I've seen are making me become more and more anxious to get this game. The AI still stutter and screw up fairly often, but no where near as often as in OFP and ArmA 1, and they even do things that are pretty awesome for non-scripted AI. And BIS are quite experienced with bug fixing, go figure :p , so I can't really see where you're getting BIS' inability to fix bugs from. They already greatly improved the broken AI of the initial German release with one patch. That's pretty unique in the modern gaming world. Finally, I still play OFP often, with mods and friends of course, and I enjoy it more than I have playing ArmA 1. OFP doesn't really suffer that badly in v1.96. That's not to say ArmA 1 suffers, it doesn't. Using v1.16 beta I really don't encounter many bugs unless I deliberately cause them. In short, like ArmA 1 and OFP before it, give BIS time. They're not a big shot developer in the gaming world and do a great job with what they have. One thing that's unique to them is that they listen and genuinely want to help the community. They release many patches and eventually release a patch that makes the game 90% bug free, as both ArmA 1 and OFP are. ArmA II will be no different. Also: triple post, much? Edit - never mind, double post instead. 4 replies appeared in the time that it took me to write this.
  14. Ok, ArmA II is in fact buggy. But lame campaign? Reliance on mods? People seem to be really enjoying ArmA II's campaign, and there are barely any mods out for ArmA II yet. Sure, ArmA can be considered a tech-demo, but definitely not ArmA II.

    Bullet Stray

Yes, FADE does do that, amongst other things such as instantly killing you, spawning you as a seagull with the text "Good birds don't run away". It's a very effective way at stopping piracy. Ebud is correct as well. If you really want this then you should not be playing ArmA II as it's definitely not the game for you. It may be a game, but it's one that's designed to be realistic. So yeah, we will give you all this "RL bla bla bla".

    patch 1.02 suggestions

Death animations... Become boring... They are not the same death animations from ArmA either. There may be some, but I have seen that they have added many newer ones. Ragdoll isn't really that realistic anyways. I hate seeing people die in games like Half-Life 2 and Battlefield 2 fly across the room or playing area because that's how the ragdoll effects work. It's like I hit these guys with a dragon-punch or something.

    available at store's??

Because it's not been released there yet. It's only been released in Germany, and that was on the 29th of May. The European release, the one you're looking for, will be released on the 19th of June.
  18. Well, all of BIS' games have started out very rough, but they improve greatly after release. The v1.14 patch for ArmA was given "Patch of the Month" by PC Gamer, beating out games like BF2, COD4 and World in Conflict, as an example. I think the real issue here is there's not a huge difference between ArmA and ArmA II, thus not giving the need for it to be a different game rather than a patch. That said, I'll still enjoy it no matter what.

    FP : DR - News & Discussion

It's so obvious by watching these trailers that CM heavily edited them, and without checking for stupid errors. One such example is that it appears that the M249 and the M4 have the same sounds, but it's obvious in the latest one that it wasn't recorded in game, but added in later. :j:

    Beta Patch Changelog

They had a Gold Master and that was what was going to be released. What I think has happened, is after the Gold Master had been created, BIS went to work fixing more things which is why we have a patch coming out the day of the release (hopefully). I think BIS weren't able to do anything about the Gold Master once it had been finalized, which is why they're going to patch it ASAP. At least they have fixed some of these issues.
  21. Strange, and it was possible to do all of that with the women that were introduced in OFP: Resistance. :butbut:
  22. Fellas, I've got a question for you. If anyone has the same or similar specs to what I post below, can you tell me how well ArmA II runs? I can currently run ArmA at full settings at 1440x900 with 2km view distance and am almost always locked at 75 FPS with vsync enabled (highest it will go as my monitor's refresh rate is 75Hz). Thanks. Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3.00GHz Graphics card: nVIDIA GeForce GTX 280 RAM: 2GB DDR2
  23. I knew that ArmA II would have bugs, and I was always going to buy it even if it did. But, there was a small glimmer of hope that perhaps it would be better than I had expected. That's still to be seen, as I'm holding for the 505 Games release, but the current German release has shown it's exactly what I thought it'd be. I'm not disappointed, I still think I'm going to love the game. I just hope that, at the least, the AI not reacting to you bug is quickly squashed. I can't wait for the demo, and the 505 Games release. :D

    FP : DR - News & Discussion

I think DR beats ArmA II in terms of music, though. I still have yet to see ArmA II's music, but all the music from the trailers has already been used in OFP:E, ArmA and Queen's Gambit. But otherwise, it looks really crap.

Wow, awesome work guys. I look forward to playing this. With the forums being engulfed in ArmA II at the moment, I love seeing posts such as this. Keep up the great work. :D
