    FP : DR - News & Discussion

QFT. Though I highly doubt DR will have the same quality...
  2. No. Simply no. BIS has never imposed such restrictions on players in their games, and that's what makes them great. It's possible to impose them but it's entirely up to the mission maker. The issue that you guys have is not with the game, but the missions that the majority of people play online. They are not designed to encourage team work, and in fact, they encourage the opposite with ranking system and hardware unlocks. But again, that's a decision that was made by the mission maker. The only reason it's more popular is that it's so much more similar to other archaic games. If you can find a mission design that will please the masses, chances are you'll need to require something like that in it. Still, no. BIS will not impose restrictions like that on players. Mod Evolution, Domination, or something similar to impose such restrictions. Unlike CM with their restrictions, BIS knows that leaving it up to us is the right thing. All of these complaints should be directed at the mission designers, not the game.

    Zipper5's Missions

If anyone's interested, I've begun to submit the campaign to OFPEC for beta testing purposes. You can find the beta test thread here. Currently it's at v0.1, with only 3 missions and some bugs that people have found. But v0.2 is on the way and it will include all of the cutscenes I've made so far, a fourth mission and many bug fixes for the first three missions. So feel free to head over to the beta test thread and check it out. Any and all feedback is appreciated.

    Will it ever be fixed?

Yes, ArmA was fixed quite well. v1.16 beta, the last patch to be released for the game, brought it up to an extremely playable state. The engine that was used with ArmA (RealVirtuality2), however, prevented more fixes from being made. ArmA II was able to fix them (RealVirtuality3). Though I myself didn't really enjoy it, many considered ACE to be the most consequential mod of ArmA, and became the main mod used in the MP aspect of ArmA close to the release of ArmA II. The animations in ArmA II are a significant improvement over ArmA's. The AI also use AT weapons and grenade launchers much more effectively. Personally, I wouldn't want to see a different command interface as I find ArmA II's to suit the type of game that it is perfectly well, and I am quite used to how it works. And to be perfectly honest, the gameplay in ArmA II is definitely improved over OFP. Though like many people here, I've had much more fun playing OFP than I have playing ArmA II. But that's not to say I haven't had fun playing ArmA II, far from it. I love the game. I just love(d) OFP more. :D

It does shit all to it...

    FP : DR - News & Discussion

Lol, I can't believe some of the morons in that thread. One even said this, and I think he was being completely serious: Yeah, right, because BIS, with their extremely limited income compared to other developers, would waste money to pay off a reviewer to make their competitor game look bad. Maybe CM would do that, but not BIS. And why is everyone relating all bad thing said about the game from the Czech Republic to BIS? Jesus what a shitty community they have...

    FP : DR - News & Discussion

Well, it's a bit odd that he'd lower the score for an advertised "military simulator" (we all DR is far from that) for being "too difficult" unless it's hilariously impossible.

    FP : DR - News & Discussion

Well, if he's only criticizing that, it must be utterly terrible to justify giving it 4/10.

    Will it ever be fixed?

That's just bullshit. Plain and simple. The houses part I'll agree with. The foliage in ArmA II is completely fine. Much improved over ArmA's and doesn't cause me any lag at all. But BIS did a terrible job with modelling the buildings in the game. They are so poorly optimized. Very noticeable when you're in the larger cities. Again, bullshit. I have a GTX 280 and an Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3.00GHz and I run it at close to full settings at a perfectly acceptable FPS. Granted it's not as high as ArmA's, but I wouldn't expect it to be with ArmA II's improvements.

    FP : DR - News & Discussion

Why does everyone immediately call him a troll in that thread? No where in his post can I see anything that can be deemed as trolling. I guess anyone that says anything negative about the game is branded a troll by that "community" now. The last few threads I've read which criticize the game have all shown that trend. One thing's for sure, if DR does turn out to be a good game I am not involving myself in that "community". It's the worst I've seen in a very, very long time.

    FP : DR - News & Discussion

40 AI is ridiculous. I would quickly reach the 64 units per side limit that OFP had when making missions. But even then, OFP had 64 units and DR, it's "sequel" has 40? And at least OFP gave you an error box and the ability to change it. How can you change it if the screen just goes... Grey? Unless that's not literally what it does. DR's technical aspects are WORSE than OFP's. Isn't that kinda the opposite of the purpose of a "sequel"? Though, I still consider OFP's true sequel to be ArmA II, of course.

    FP : DR - News & Discussion

I don't get it. Is he making fun of ArmA II's hitpoint system, or something to do with DR? If it's meant to be ArmA II's, then why the hell is he using a DR screenshot?

That's great, thanks Binkowski. Glad to see that people do actually notice me posting stuff here, heh. I'll be sure to send you a PM when I need you. ;)

    BIS single missions?

I believe the only way to get them is by going to the Missions screen, holding shift and pressing the number pad - key, releasing them and typing M-I-S-S-I-O-N-S.

It just keeps getting better and better! The next thing they'll tell us is that there are only 3 rifles in the game (each trailer has really only showed a total of 3 anyways).
  17. I've not stopped playing BIS' games since the OFP demo came out. What a glorious near-decade it has been. :D

    EW

Is it the World End Tale? I just found that when looking on his website. Even if it's not fully translated I've actually downloaded it along with the WTWE addons and am going to reinstall OFP just to try it.
  19. Zipper5

    EW

He made a mission called When The World Ends for OFP, which also followed a similar storyline. I can't recall there ever being another one, though.

    Helicopters stuck on pad

What exactly is your problem? The helicopters aren't stuck on the pad. At least, not for me, or anyone else so far. Hold Q and it will turn the engine on and then fly upwards.

    missions not showing up

That won't work. At least, not properly. Just create the folder in your ArmA II directory and place it in there. Like so:

    FP : DR - News & Discussion

I can't believe you found your way to the post button. The Official Xbox 360 magazine gave the game 8 out of 10. I guess they literally haven't played anything more realistic.
  23. Zipper5

    missions not showing up

Go to your main ArmA II directory, which is by default: C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2 Inside there, you should see folders named AddOns, Missions, Dta, Keys and MPMissions. Create a new folder inside here called Campaigns. Place the usermade campaign .pbo file into this new folder. It should now work.
  24. I'm overjoyed to see that the FDF mod is still alive and kicking. And producing such awesome stuff for ArmA II. I can't wait! :D
  25. SBS is still around. They even have an ArmA II server. DK still exists too. I have some good friends who still play in it in ArmA II. MCY... Well... It's sort of around. I'm friends with Celery, and he's really the only guy I ever hear from anymore from MCY.
