Bit old, but still no less pathetic.

It really does look like "the big thing" is smoke, lol. http://community.codemasters.com/forum/operation-flashpoint-dragon-rising-game-pc-113/401302-17-12-new-screenshot-upcoming-dlc-pack-2-a-3.html#post5938880

The official trailer for my up-coming mini-campaign, Operation Cobalt: Operation Cobalt Trailer on Vimeo
-
Operation Cobalt An ArmA II Mini-Campaign Operation Cobalt Trailer on Vimeo (I have to use Vimeo as YouTube has seen fit to remove the audio due to WMG.) I'm planning for the campaign to be about 5 or so missions long. It will have you taking on the role of a grunt, and quickly becoming the leader of your squad. Hopefully, I should have it finished sometime in Q1 of 2010. I am also looking for voice actors, particularly Russian and Czech speakers, who can also speak English. If anyone is interested, once I have it finished, I shall contact you and provide you with the necessary scripts. Until then, stay tuned.

PCGamer Top 100 lists ArmA 2 as the 21st best PC game of all time!
Zipper5 replied to Fudgeblood's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Very impressive for ArmA II. Seems that the PCG staff have taken a liking to it, given how many times they've mentioned it in past magazines, and even did a feature article on it. I'll be interested to see what happens with Operation: Arrowhead. -
Lol, that's just the excuse they're putting out there rather than saying they've shelved it. I don't think we'll ever see this second patch. I hope we don't, actually. Perhaps it will finally put DR to sleep. It's very unfortunate that this had to happen to the OFP name. :( Edit: Ok, lmfao, Codemasters really are just blocking out the criticism they're receiving. First patch had a few crappy maps, looks like the second one will be exactly the same. Man alive, this is just fun to watch. http://community.codemasters.com/forum/operation-flashpoint-dragon-rising-game-pc-113/401302-17-12-new-screenshot-upcoming-dlc-pack-2-a.html I wonder if colored smoke is some new awesome feature that's going to be introduced.

The quick commands are still there just like they were in OFP and ArmA II. To move someone, just select, point, and click. Same as always. However, make sure you use your mouse wheel to select "Move" instead of "Halt" in the menu that appears. Well, you don't need the camo face addon if that's the case. They're in the game already, the addon just unlocks them. So you can remove the addon. Put in the init line: this setFace "face01_camo1". That will put the unit with a camo pattern. You can do the same for every face in the game, and it goes up to camo3, I believe, for each one. I believe the screenshot issue with Print Screen was still in ArmA and OFP. Use Fraps instead to fix it. The only reason you would have green, red and white dots over units is because you're playing on Recruit. Switch to Regular and they'll disappear.

http://community.codemasters.com/forum/operation-flashpoint-dragon-rising-off-topic-1179/399448-will-you-buy-codemasters-title-future.html A poll... speaks a thousand words? I'm definitely not buying another Codemasters product myself. Edit: Oh, and this one too: http://community.codemasters.com/forum/operation-flashpoint-dragon-rising-game-pc-113/401067-everyone-please-respond.html I swear that TemplarGFX guy has been bought out by Codemasters. I love the poll results, though.

This project is what it has "evolved" in to, I suppose. As I said, more information will be coming "soon".

And another teaser for today: More information coming "soon".

Good air-based missions are much harder to make than any other type in ArmA II. That's why Str/Gaia is regarded as being as skilled as he is. All of his helicopter missions and campaigns have been some of the best missions and campaigns ever made for BIS' games. The reason there are so few is because ArmA II, and ArmA and OFP before it, are much more suited for ground-based warfare. Lack of countermeasures, proper AA defenses, sometimes odd handling of helicopters and planes by the AI, etc. all contribute to making it very hard for the mission maker to produce a good mission using them. It's unfortunate, but that's how it is.

Yeah, the game will be perfect once they fix that. Can't believe they missed out someone. It's prevented me from playing an otherwise perfect game!

Game of the year - semifinal voting
Zipper5 replied to Przemek_kondor's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
I don't see any radio button next to the ArmA II image... Edit: Scratch that, found it. -
That's just despicable on Codemasters part, but I would consider these guys lucky. At least they didn't end up with their names associated with such a terrible product. Bitter sweet, I guess.

You know, I saw this in a shop around here a while ago. I thought "that might be alright", but after watching that video, and reading up about it on Wikipedia, I am very thankful that I didn't. I'm surprised it's got as many people playing it as it does.

Here's a little "teaser" of something that I'm working on: Stay tuned. ;)

Patch 1.05 "Announced". Includes AH-64
Zipper5 replied to roberthammer's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
No, it isn't really. The Apache coming with 1.05 is not a port, it's been created from scratch and will be to the standards of the rest of the ArmA II vehicles, if not exceeding it given the time that BIS has had since ArmA II's release to further improve their quality and optimization, especially since it looks like this Apache was the same one planned for Operation: Arrowhead. Ports from ArmA or even OFP simply won't reach this level of quality if they aren't modified, which the current ones are, but not to the quality of this. Substantial can be defined as "large". A synonym of large is huge. So really, I didn't put words into your mouth, I simply used a synonym of it. However, I was not trying to put words into your mouth. There has been a performance gain, but it's not really "substantial" unless you're in said areas like Chernogorsk. Then you get a substantial performance boost in comparison to 1.04. The only reason I jumped on it is because many, many people are acting like performance is the be-all end-all issue with ArmA II. If the next patch doesn't fix it, they'll throw the game away. They can't see past the performance "issues" (I don't suffer from them, so I can't give a first-hand account) that they are experiencing and see the other, more important things. They expect the game to run like most current big-budget games, which, for the most part, are multiplatform releases and designed mostly for consoles, then simply ported to the PC. Somehow, somewhere, performance became a bigger issue than substance. People are even saying they want performance like in Dragon Rising, which is laughable to say the least. -
Patch 1.05 "Announced". Includes AH-64
Zipper5 replied to roberthammer's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Please, point to more than one Apache addon. In fact, point to one that isn't a port. I have yet to see one. Why not use the beta patches yourself and see how much performance gain you get? It's not a huge amount. I haven't seen anyone yet to get a drastic change in performance apart from making the larger towns of Chernogorsk and Electrozavodsk playable. Frankly, I'm more concerned about substance than performance, as I get what I believe to be excellent performance for a game of this magnitude. You seem to believe, though, that performance = substance. -

A.C.E. Advanced Combat Environment - Public Beta!

You need to add -mod=beta to your shortcut, since it would appear you are using the beta patches. -

They weren't making a whole new Commanche, Gaia/Str was using the ArmA port of it. The name of who ported it escapes me at the moment. So no model went to waste. -

Patch 1.05 "Announced". Includes AH-64
Zipper5 replied to roberthammer's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Yeah, and being above the minimum or even recommended requirements means that you should be able to run the game flawlessly? Neither of them say "Requirements to run the game flawlessly". Use the recommended ones as a base for building your PC, not going below that spec. It doesn't mean it'll run perfectly. Your setup isn't all that great either. The E6600 is fairly old by what's out today, your 9800 GTX is nothing special compared to the GTX 2xx series cards, and 2GB RAM, again, is nothing special. Sure, you'll run mainstream corridor shooters like Far Cry 2 or MW2 at full settings with great FPS, but not games like ArmA II. You simply can't expect the same performance. For reference, I run on the following: Windows XP Professional SP3 Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3.00GHz nVIDIA GeForce GTX 280 1GB 2GB DDR2 RAM And get 40 to 60 FPS most of the time. Changes depending on what's on screen, of course. In ArmA, I got over 100 FPS. Give it time, and it'll be the same with ArmA II. -

The word "beta" seems to frighten many people. That's why so many think so many things haven't been fixed, and won't be fixed.
