Go here and download OFP Aspect Ratio v1.3, NoRailgunner. Then just follow the instructions to get it setup. :) That bug was always there in Undercover. I had to fix it for CWR2. :p

79600 is much more stable than the current patches for some people, including myself.

I don't have a beast of a PC but my processor and graphics card are faster than yours and Arma 2 still doesn't run as great as I hoped it would but it isn't unplayable. If you purchased anything through Steam alone it is up to Steam to decide to refund you, which they will not do 90% of the time. However, your post makes it sound like you own a hard copy in which case you need to contact whoever you bought it at.

Refunds will always come through the people who you bought the game from and I believe Steam has a strict no-refund policy. On the other hand, your processor is too slow and your graphics card is too weak but I guess you don't really care anymore.

Compared to every other game out there these days, Arma 2 sells mostly everywhere for cheap.

CWR2 requires ARMA 2 and I presume you are only running ARMA 2 Operation Arrowhead. That is the problem. Sorry. :(

The beta arma2oa.exe has only had its name changed to "ArmA 2 REINFORCEMENTS". Nothing to be alarmed about.

Well, my PC is playing Arma 2 so poorly it has begun to be unacceptable for me, so that's the other reason I'm upgrading now rather than later.

3 simple checks to make sure the community preview is loading properly: 1. Your target line points to takeonhpreview.exe. Example: "C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\tkoh_preview\takeonhpreview.exe" 2. Your target line includes -mod=tkoh_preview after the exe path. Example: "C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\tkoh_preview\takeonhpreview.exe" -mod=tkoh_preview 3. Your start in line points to your Arma 2 root installation folder. Example: "C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2" All of this is outlined in the readme but I'll admit I even missed it the first time around. Always read the readme, folks! Don't go reinstalling stuff!

The new UI is ugly as hell but I read that there is indeed a switch to change it back to the usual desktop style. Hopefully with that enabled it doesn't look anything like this garbage that looks like it was done with MS Word and Paint. :rolleyes:

Everyone wants it but as I said in the other thread, it's most likely not going to happen.

I think it's pretty obvious that major engine changes, such as the addition of a new flight model or render-to-texture, are only going to occur in new releases of the engine. Therefore, I believe you won't see them in Arma 2 and I'd imagine it's highly unlikely that the new flight model will be in Arma 3. Also, you need to be more patient if you're looking to get answers from BIS specifically.

No need for another thread on this subject. And in my opinion - no, it's not over. They will still forever be remembered for ruining the OFP name, just like Ubisoft will always have their Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon and now Splinter Cell failures hanging over them.

It wasn't directly aimed at you, but everyone. Even at non-ridiculous settings my OFP still goes down to 20 FPS at times, but never goes lower than that. Modern hardware just isn't fully compatible with OFP's engine.

There's a very easy fix for that: buy the game.

It's not odd that OFP performance isn't ideal on modern hardware. It simply doesn't take full advantage of it. It was designed to take advantage of 10 year old hardware instead. In other words, don't be silly and crank terrain detail and view distance to max. Your PC won't be able to take it very well.

Right Ctrl + M is the keybind to toggle the GPS provided you are using the default controls. If you've changed that binding then maybe it will work if you use your keybind for it. Edit: Scratch that. Thanks to sbsmac for pointing out the difference.

I voted 2, but instead of "once in a while", I'll probably only play it sporadically. Even then it will probably only be to play MP with friends or something.
