DM for President, I says.

I found the movie incredible, to be honest. DiCaprio and Murphy did awesome jobs as always, but the supporting cast was pretty damn good too. I quite liked Gordon-Levitt, and Page did a better job in this movie than she has in any other one of her's I've seen. The rest of the cast did a good job. Aside from the actors, the plot was very interesting. At the start I was a bit confused about what was going on, but as it progressed and the idea of dreaming came into play, it all clicked, and continued to click until the end of the movie. The CGI was also jaw-dropping in points. While not as good as The Dark Knight, in my opinion, Inception is definitely one of Nolan's best movies, and I'd recommend it to everyone.

CM Operation Flashpoint 3 announced | "Oops, they're doing it again..."
Zipper5 replied to Undeceived's topic in OFFTOPIC
Red River makes me think Codemasters are on their period... Seriously, their marketing department is retarded to let a name like this slip through. That was probably the best thing about DR; their advertising made people think it could be a decent game. Smoke and mirrors... I like how the DR forums have exploded with the announcement. As usual, the mindless masses forget how badly they were treated when templarGFX claims to have heard information from Codemasters themselves, and thus states the game will be amazing. We need to stop calling Red River the third OFP... -
What drove me away from MP was not the addons or mods used, but the maps that are constantly played. See my signature for an example.

How many people actually have Combined Operations?
Zipper5 replied to gossamersolid's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - MULTIPLAYER
I have it. -
I'd love to see improvements. Current system is not broken, does not require much effort at all to use. My argument summed up. I'm sure the old systems were really hard to use, but comparing the amount of work to get those working to how it currently is in Arma 2 and OA is pretty irrelevant due to the huge gap in between the different technologies. We're kinda offtopic, ain't we? :butbut:
-
Guess I'm not your usual 17 year old. ;) Again, I don't think that newer, modern systems for this would be detrimental, but what I do think is that the current system doesn't demand change for it to work.
-
Why do you have to do that but I can accomplish the same thing with a screenshot? I really am 17, but the oldest games I've played probably are some of the original Sonic games on an old SEGA console. Again, I would love improvements, but the notion that it's difficult or a pain in the ass to do simply indicates laziness in my eyes.
-
I'd welcome improvements to the system with open arms, I never denied that. What I'm adressing is the notion that it is "difficult" in it's current state.
-
What makes it so difficult? Note filename, do Google search for popular community website, search for it, find, download, install. Problem solved. I can understand the current gaming generation finding that too difficult, but then again, they also allow a $15 map pack lacking any real fixes to a game riddled with issues to become the highest selling DLC of all time.
-
Well, it's not the kind of game that that many people should know exists, unlike games like HALO: Reach and COD: Black Ops. But BIS have been advertising, short of giant billboards and TV spots. They've done full page magazine adverts in popular magazines like PC Gamer and Maximum PC, they've made trailers and got them on major websites like YouTube, GameTrailers, etc. They've even got PC Gamer (the US staff at least) constantly mentioning and featuring Arma 2 in their magazine. You want them to start blowing money on giant billboard ads and TV spots? That seems very pointless to me.
-
Uhuh. Well, call me an elitist if you want, but that's simply laziness. It hasn't changed since OFP, but since Arma 2 people have started to call it difficult. That's more to do with how well Arma 2 seems to have sold compared to BIS' previous games, bringing in more of the new generation of gamer. Many mods and addons are named appropriately so that you can get information from the filenames. You can find the author's tag, and you can get an idea for what the addon contains. Then simply do a search on any of the community websites and look for the most likely candidate, download it, and try it out. I remember way back when with SP campaigns on OFP.info requiring really obscure and old OFP addons which I managed to find working links to simply by following the same method. Why then have OFP, ArmA and Arma 2 all been successful financially with the use of the same system? Granted, OA has made some significant improvements to it. Oh yes, because people haven't been bitching about that attitude more than anything else, have they? No, it shows that other things need to be changed not related to BIS, but I've already gone down that road with no impact. What needs "saving" about it? I don't think anyone has thought it's in any form of peril...

Operation Flashpoint: Red River. FPDR The name Dragon Rising was easy enough to make fun of. I've not seen such a not-thought-through name since Call of Duty 3: Big Red One. -
Nope, doesn't happen with just default Arma 2. If you have OA, put down the effects modules, and set the date to the winter months, it will indeed start to snow.
-
Do you want upgraded Arma 2 content?
Zipper5 replied to AnimalMother92's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
Yes, I want it, and I'd be willing to pay for it if required, but I'd prefer for it to be free of course. :p -
British Troops DLC released & Official 1.01 Update
Zipper5 replied to Pauldarrington's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
You too seem to have misinterpreted my point. I'm definitely buying the DLC and greatly anticipate it's arrival. My point was that using only one or two addons/mods, or none at all, and locking out every other one, makes the experience become stale quite quickly in MP. -

I'm sure the moderators could easily flip a switch and revert back to the dealing-with-the-ArmA-release-fallout mode if you really want them to. Have a look at posts circa 2006 for examples. The community's simply become more light-hearted. Sorry if that's not what you like. ;) FPDR First, the DLC for OA costs $10. Second, you obviously haven't read the feature list, or have chosen to ignore the other features. I'm not going to link it here because it's not exactly hard to find. Ah right, because ArmA, Arma 2 and OA, with all their new improvements and features, have made the game more mainstream than OFP. -
British Troops DLC released & Official 1.01 Update
Zipper5 replied to Pauldarrington's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Well, what kept me coming back to OFP MP all the time was the variation. I loved playing with the FDF mod, running out of missions to play, starting up ECP, playing small coops with some friends, running into a server using CSLA 2, switching to that, then playing some crCTI on vanilla OFP. Good times... :D It was feasable in OFP to lack standardization, and has remained feasable up to now with OA. In fact I found it more unpredictable and fun to lack standardization. There's simply been a recent rise of it in the form of ACE 2 or no addons at all. -

But then what use is that if everyone does it? Because, let's face it, standardization makes it take a lot less effort on the player's/server admin's behalf. -
What is considered a good frame rate for multi-player in Arma2?
Zipper5 replied to polar bear's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
The 15 to 20 FPS region is completely playable in Arma 2. Most proper competitive maps are configured to be very FPS friendly (forced small view distance, no grass, etc.) so when you need the higher FPS, you'll get it. -

While all the mindless masses of DR's limited fanbase are led into yet another cash-grab at the expense of a great name, I'll be watching from the sidelines as the process repeats itself once more. -

That has the potential to make a previously varied and interesting experience very monotonous and boring... -
I look forward to this with great anticipation. You know you can always contact me for "assistance". :p

OA has ruined the multiplayer browsing screen
Zipper5 replied to rexehuk's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - MULTIPLAYER
The new system changes give a lot more useful information to the player, therefore I think it's improved on the original concept. ;) -
Uh... It's a 24 second teaser video? It served it's purpose in my opinion; I'm now genuinely interested. :D
