  1. BF2_Trooper, I am not looking forward to this game because it sounds like nothing more than a generic, uninspired mainstream FPS, and because Codemasters, like every other mainstream developer it seems, treats their fanbase like shit. The fact that it outright abuses and milks the OFP name simply adds fuel to the fire.
  2. Anyone else noticed there's been no mention of a mission editor, on consoles or on the PC?
  3. Use this clearly labelled/marked/stickied thread rather than create your own. ;) And hey guys, if he has the cash, why not let him get one? It's not like Alienware PCs lack the hardware, they just cost a whole lot. He asked if it would run Arma 2, which it most certainly will, not if he'll be paying too much.
  4. You think that if they did actually play OFP and measured how and why it became successful, they would have made DR like they did? Or be making Red River how it is? It's quite simple, they're a developer that wasn't at all a part of the original game's development (none of the current team worked on the Codemasters aspects of OFP) and has never played the game to see what it did. Heck, they didn't even seem to play any Arma game. It's exactly the same thing that happened with Rainbow Six Vegas and Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter. New, never-before-related development team using an established brand to take it into the mainstream and make lots of cash for their publisher, who just-so-happens to be the same company. I couldn't expect more from these con artists.

ARMA 2: OA beta patch 72539

No comprehension of the word "beta" or the phrase "highly experimental"? ;)
  6. I have a special wing of my games shelf that has only BIS' games in it. :p OFP GOTY, ArmA, QG (burned onto a DVD), Arma 2, OA (also burned onto a DVD). Lost/broke my old OFP, Gold Upgrade and Resistance discs. I took shit care of my games back then...
  7. After seeing that Simon, I picture old Sion holding his tacticool M4 with the handle in the utterly wrong place. :p
  8. Might not be any Dragons, but if Codemasters take themselves less seriously, like BIS did with OA, then we might see some tampons and maxipads in Red River. :p
  9. Ah ok, but it still has nothing to do with the Chinese... Oh well, you know what they say - copying is a form of flattery. BIS can take great pride in knowing that they still do things better and more originally than a big-name publisher/developer like Codemasters. ;)
  10. It's the US Army now? None of the character drawings or even the concept images look like ACU or even Multicam (if it's set in the near future it could work). In fact, it looks like it's desert MARPAT. Then again, if you recall back to the DR concept art and their camo, which was supposed to be woodland MARPAT... Given the hints to the storyline and the facts about Tajikistan I predict another half-baked SP campaign. OA's campaign's fairly weak story looks like a best-selling novel compared to DR's.
  11. Say what? The PLA are still the bad guys? What the hell does Tajikstan have that China would want? It's purely a border to Afghanistan to other Coalition countries, and as far as I know doesn't have masses of oil and gas like other countries in the region. Well there surely must be a WW3 scenario involved in Red River if Chinese, American, Russian, French and Indian soldiers are all occupying the country...
  12. Now that you mention the similarities between OA and Red River (or what is so far)... Takistan... Tajikistan... *Cough* I wonder where they got the idea to use Tajikistan of all places. They've been peaceful for many years, not to mention the fact that there are currently French, Indian, Russian and American troops stationed there to guard it's border with Afghanistan. PS. Kotick is the face that embodies everything wrong with gaming today.
  13. Too much effort and not enough payoff for a bigname game developer nowadays, EricM. That's one of the biggest reasons I love BIS. They realize that they can't expect to get epic sales from their games, but that is never their main objective. They make games because they like making them. Sure, they still have monetary needs, but they have great passion for their products. It's really only BIS and Valve who I can say are remaining that way.
  14. Morons like Mr. Lenton here don't realize that most of the sane world can see the difference between a video game and reality. I still can't believe CM brought him back. Even the DR community hated him.

    Al Qaeda attacks Oil tankers.

Damn walker, don't you think you're being a bit of a conspiracy theorist with that last part? :butbut:
  16. Black Ops is apparently already doing that, therefore, as-of-yet, Red River has no unique features. At least DR had scope... *Cough* I call it: Operation Dutypoint: Bad Red 2

New Medal of Honor game trailer

Aw, Clavicula, you missed such a great humorous opportunity there. You should have written it like the marine delta ranger SEALz recon would never let themselfs got shot down :p There are many more mature forum members here than there are... Retarded. ;) I have played COD4, WaW and MW2 on the PS3. Not yet have I met a single person I would ever want to be in a party with. Playing them on the PC is exactly the same. The people playing these games are, for the most part, retarded. It takes a lot of effort to find normal people playing them... Accuracy doesn't matter when you have weapons like MW2's M16A4, FAMAS, ACR, Tavor 21 or M4A1. Everything else, yes, I'll agree they play a part, but much less when using the weapons in MW2 combined with the new Perks and attachments. It makes the game far too easy. I play COD4 and WaW because they don't have such exaggerated versions of these, and therefore are at least a slight challenge for me. Oh, and the majority of players I get put up against suck on both consoles or PCs. You have to enter competitive groups to be put up against good players, and even then it's entirely random. Promod on COD4 isn't an option for me. I tried it once and it's full of egotistical tryhards.
  18. To milk the fanbase. ;) Wait what? No PvP because of the war in Afghanistan? I'm sorry, but MOH is doing it and there hasn't been a backlash. I guess it's okay to shoot Tajikistanis in the face, but not American soldiers, in a video game...
  19. Lol, Sion. You ruffian. Oh, and more renders: Source. Looking at that picture the dam reminds me of the Hoover Dam. Guess Codemasters might also jump on the "America under attack" bandwagon. I look forward to Homefront. Edit: Bah, already linked by gulag. Check out those character drawings, especially the obvious MW2 ripoff. :D

I also consider myself to be quite good at both MW2 and BFBC2. I never play either game to get the highest score or compete, however. I play them for mindless fun. If I want to be competitive, I go back to COD4 where it actually still matters in the PC world... As much as I may sometimes find MW2 and BFBC2 fun, they are both a clear shout to their original fanbases on the PC that they couldn't care less about us anymore, and can also be incredibly frustrating, moreso than BIS' games, thanks to many bugs and a largely unbalanced experience so as to accomodate the new guy. There is no point trying to exhibit any form of "skill" in either game because the last games in their franchises which took any "skill" at all were World at War and Battlefield 2. I am not going to buy a FPS on a console as I simply can't see myself using the damn thumb sticks instead of a mouse. For me, COD died with MW2, and Battlefield died with the first Bad Company. Two, PC-originated franchises that showed such fantastic promise spat in their faces and sided with the ever-mindless, money-churning console crowd. I've played many MP games on consoles, so you can't argue with me that most players you come across aren't mindless or border-line retarded. Still, in direct competition between the two games, BC2 wins for being slightly more appreciative of it's PC fans. Heck, the game sold more on the PC than it did on either console. To most normal people that would show if you treat PC gamers with an ounce of respect then you'll get sales from them, but the suits in the publishing companies like EA and Activision are blind.
  21. Nope. As of now I simply look forward to CM utterly failing to compete in the FPS genre with the OFP name, and will simply let the name go the way of R6 and GR. Seriously, they need to take their heads out of their asses if they think they could even do a decent FPS game...
  22. DR had some aspects you could use in comparing it to Arma 2. Red River will have none, by the looks of things. It's trying (and is most likely failing) to bring OFP into today's "mainstream", and can therefore suck it...

As cool as that does look, no SP campaign in a MOH game since Spearhead has actually kept me playing until I finished it. Unless MOH has a significantly improved storyline, for whatever reason, it might turn out like how BC2's campaign was to me - average, disappointing and short. I dunno if it's worth the $60 price for just the SP though. Only games I'd pay that much for just the SP are BIS'. :p Edit: Quite the IW fan aren't you, Prydain? I dunno why you would be. They, along with DICE, treat their fanbase (old (PC) and new (consoles)) like shit. I wonder if a major reason for why Eminem is suddenly popular again is because of MW2 and Black Ops...
  24. Oh my God... No. NO. No no no no... :( Burn in hell, Codemasters. Not only did you have to screw up the OFP name enough with Dragon Rising, you're doing this to it just like Ubisoft did to R6 and GR. With Sion 'Nice.....' Lenton back on the project it's obvious you learned nothing, will learn nothing, and will continue to milk established fanbases until the cow runs dry. Oh, and templarGFX can go with them after saying it's going to be awesome... I always thought the OFP brand would be the last to go the way of the modern FPS. Seems that day has come... R.I.P. Operation Flashpoint I'd be perfectly happy for them to go off and make their own sub-par FPS so long as it didn't carry the OFP name.
