  1. With that logic FSX isn't a flight simulator. These games have always been military simulators but one step down from the ultra-hardcore VBS versions.
  2. Just pre-ordered mine via Sprocket. Looking forward to the 26th!
  3. Well, of course they're going to be different. OFP to them is apparently no longer a military simulator but is the so-called "tactical first-person shooter", which in other words means a barely higher level of realism than that of a Call of Duty game. Therefore the "missions" (more like "levels", now) will be suited for that type of game. Frankly I don't really care about how the game turns out nor will I be buying it, and I can accurately judge it because they've taken the OFP name and turned it into something it was never meant to be. It might be a decent game when it comes out, but it will not be an OFP game. It's a similar situation to what the Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six fans have had to face or, more recently, the Splinter Cell fans.
  4. If he was the Chief Mission Designer for DR, then I see no benefit to him now being in charge of the entire game. The campaign sucked, all the SP missions sucked and so did the MP ones. They might have been the most working aspect of the game, but that doesn't make them any better. No better sign than Sion being back on the team.
  5. I don't think many of us would say When talking about a supposed "military simulator" and expect to be taken seriously. ;)
  6. It's all advertising ploys. Many more people will see and hear that rather than looking on their forums, or the internet for that matter, for the real reaction to DR. He's not deluded, he's simply lying and has an army of people cleaning up after the mess he left so that nothing can be traced back to him unless you knew of it before hand. However, I will say he's an idiot after the things he did and said during DR's life...
  7. You have now won the internet. :D

Why is this game not more popular?

MW2 is full of bugs, as is BC2. ;)
  9. Fine then, with that logic it makes it seem that DR is an expansion to OFP. To the average person that has heard of the original OFP games, DR would definitely have first appeared to have been a sequel. No question about it.

    Is it worth it?

Lol, you guys can be real dramaqueens sometimes.
  11. You need to grow up if you're comparing the content in the BAF DLC to MW2's map packs, especially with the BAF DLC being $5 cheaper.
  12. Exaggerating is different from flat-out lying. If you think that BIS have lied as much as Codemasters did with DR (and Red River so far... "90% loved the game") then you are simply dillusional, or deliberately trolling. No matter if everyone does it, it doesn't make it any less wrong. As I said, it symbolizes everything wrong with the games industry today. The demo was released after the game was released, probably intentionally so that potential customers weren't scared off. Many obviously paid reviewers also highly praised the game, only a few slipped out saying it was as bad as it was. Those who trust the major reviewers are very naive.

    DLC - Canadian Forces

Wow, thanks for showing me that one, Coyote. Hadn't seen it before. Scott captured some awesome footage with our guys. :D
  14. If I recall correctly, they speak Spanish once or twice in the campaigns included in Queen's Gambit.
  15. No, it wouldn't. I don't know how many people I could speak for here, but I have little respect for those who support CM after the poor ethnics and business practices they employed with DR. Fraud is one of the things that makes me very sick in my stomach, and those who turn a blind eye to it are just as much at fault for allowing them to continue with such practices. Take away the fact that it's a game, the love or fanboyism we have for OFP. When you look at what CM did with DR, they acted like conartists. They tricked people into thinking it was an OFP game in the first place, and originally a sequel to OFP, which they knew BIS had exclusive rights to. Then they lied about features the game would have (dedicated servers printed right on the boxart). Then, after releasing a few crappy, overpriced DLC packs and patches that ended up causing hardware issues and locked out any community made modifications, they dropped support entirely for the game after what, a few months? That. Is. Fraud. And to turn a blind eye to that is simply naive. But hey, throw your money at them. CM replicated everything wrong with the gaming industry today with DR, and it's spreading thanks to customers who don't care.
  16. Yes, then you can go through a menu and select the fire mode, which just like the radial command menu stops movement. But unlike in Arma 2, if you use the quick firemode switch, just by tapping the button once and slowly moving through them, you'll eventually be forced to wait for the M203 to reload each time you select it. Agreed but it's still an idiotic design. Please explain the story to me, outside of the first opening cutscene (which was also a trailer...) and the last one that has one voice over. Outside of those you have no idea how the story is progressing. With that mentality you must enjoy TimeCrisis in the arcade to the same extent you enjoy a game like GTA 4 or COD4 in their story modes. No, but you certainly like to bait the more gullible people into getting angry at you.
  17. Even when just considered your usual tactical FPS, DR was still very average. Many things killed it, like the switching of fire modes (always having to reload your M203 before you can switch modes), the radial command menu locking out all other movement, the very boring campaign...
  18. I think if anyone else smoked it they'd die on the spot.

    DLC - Canadian Forces

Just outside of Edmonton, small town called Vermillion. I always say I'm from Edmonton, though. No one knows where I'm from when I tell the truth. :p Edmonton Oilers FTW! I've always been impressed by how well-trained our forces are, and by their contributions to conflicts they've been involved in (Bosnia, Yugoslavia, Afghanistan...). I also have a particular love for JTF2. Damn, now those would be awesome to have in the DLC! :D Gotta love how any mention of the Iraq war flares up aggression and anger, yet that was hardly the original person's intentions. It's like reading YouTube comments on any real military video... Anyways, fine, no need to mention it anymore.
  20. I say I'd prefer native voices but, as you said, it's damn hard to get voice actors for that... I can deal with accented English, though. :p

    disappointed

Way to register just to rant. Nice. ;) The AI in OFP was only better when vehicles worked in convoys, which is impossible now. Other than that, every aspect of the AI is obviously better. We're looking through rose-tinted spectacles too often at OFP.

    DLC - Canadian Forces

Yes, I agree. Unfortunately not too many Canadians seem to play BIS' games... There are communities for them, and there's ONS, but nothing compared to Europeans.

    DLC - Canadian Forces

This. One of the best decisions our government has made in the last decade I think. Would not have wanted to have any guilt for what's going on over there as a Canadian, I feel sorry for Americans and the British. :( I have little respect for what their governments chose to do, but I have the utmost respect for those who are fighting over there. True heroes in my eyes.
  24. Well, I can understand him slightly in that regard... ... I'd never mod DR for free. ;)

    DLC - Canadian Forces

Hey, I'm Canadian you bastards. :( I'd love to see Canadian forces in a DLC pack, but ONS are making some. Hopefully some day we'll see them finished. The reason the Canadian forces are rather... Small, is because of lack of government funding (especially in comparison to the Americans) and because we usually assume peacekeeping roles. We're in Afghanistan because we're part of NATO and the UN, but we were not going to follow the Americans into Iraq when the UN didn't, which I think had quite a big impact on American-Canadian relations. We don't like to cause shit on false premises. I'm also considering joining them when I finish school, probably going to the RMCC if I do. Make no mistake though, we ain't weak. :p Edit: For those not realizing the Canadians are in Afghanistan: B2r3C0PJ1LM Probably the most famous YouTube video of us over there. They're even from where I'm from. :D
