I ordered new through amazon.com about a month ago. I am currently in iraq though so I wont get the replacement CD anytime soon.

Thanks for the help, it looks like its a faulty CD according to the ofpfaq link you sent me. Kinda wierd they still have these for sale a year and a half after they found out about the problem.

I just uninstalled the game, did a chkdsk and a defrag, reinstalled still with no luck. The patches still don't want to install also. I am using the latest nvidia driver 52.16. Any other ideas?

also, yes I did try the autodetect with no luck

I did try to install V1.46, but when I click on the patch.exe I get the small ofp splash screen then it crashes, just like the game .exe

Hello, The installs without errors, but when I try and load the game it crashes right away. All I get is the little splash screen then the windows error box about sending in a error report. I tried to install some of the patches but the same exact thing happens. I click on the patch .exe I get the little splash screen then it crashes. I am using Windows XP media center edition, on a toshiba widescreen laptop with directx version 9.0b and a Geforce FX 5200 video card.
