Sorry to say this, but Shellshock is a baaad game. Definitely not worth the money! As far as Vietnam games, I'm just waiting to see how Men of Valor: Vietnam will be. I'm carefully optimistic so far. (Although the game contains no controllable veichles... you can man chainguns, etc, in choppers, but not control them yourself ) The game does however promise at least 60 hours worth of singleplayer time, and the graphics on the PC version looks ok. And it's 2015 making the game, so it could be worth waiting for... (2015 made MOH: AA on the PC). But after a lot of games have disappointed me the last 2-3 years, I won't go out and say that this will be the greatest game ever... (I wonder if it's OFP's fault, no game lives up to it... ) Only titles I got higher hopes for, are S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and Brothers in Arms (in addition to OFP 2 of course... )

I got some suggestions to trucks it would be great to have as addons in OFP: Scania and Volvo trucks (Swedish ones), from 1960-70 up untill now. In various types...like timbertruck, dumper, etc... here are some pictures so you get an idea: So, if anyone could make some of those, it would be great!

My thoughts exactly! He can't have played H&D2 properly. H&D2 is far superior to VC, but as long as he has his mind decided that VC is gods gift to gamers nothing we say can change his mind. But that's alright, you should stick with your own opinions. (this sorta reminds me of a heated discussion I had with some members on a norwegian forum a couple of weeks ago... the threadstarter asked for good singelplayer FPS wargames...well of course I suggested OFP at the top of my list! Then a couple of others start saying that OFP sucks because none of them had managed to complete the campaigns...one actually complained that he had played OFP for a year and STILL hadn't managed to finish the CWC campaign . So they said OFP was far too difficult since you could die from one shot...I then asked what games they thought was balanced and not too hard...and OF COURSE they said CS Oh man, I and some other OFP players really nailed them to the floor after that...in the end one of them lost his temper completly and was banned for a long time because of his outburst. You gotta love CS players that thinks CS is the holy grail of gaming and probably would have a nervous breakdown if they were to be without CS for more than 2-3 days... ) Ah well, enough of my ramblings. I like H&D2, he likes VC, end of story.

But on to a more serious attitude; OFP 2 needs both a orchestral soundtrack for more dramatic moments and a more rock oriented soundtrack for the appropiate moments. They could get or license some more well-known bands/songs. Another idea I had, was that they could include working carradios with songs playing (like GTA Vice City or Battlefield Vietnam). But only in cars/trucks, and the ability to shut on/off and choose between songs.

Ok, new idea; An amusement park! I'm not sure if rollercoasters, carousels, etc. can be done in OFP? (I'm talking working animated ones!) And how about a zoo? I saw an elephant addon in the works here, but we would need more...like lions, tigers, bears, etc. These were just a couple of ideas for now... I'll keep dreaming up more

It's a small detail... but it is small details like this that in the end can produce a totally immersive feeling when playing the game. So, great idea!

I just thought I'd let you all know that I've set up a funny addons request thread right here! BTW: I love the idea of a Ghostbusters addon! Both the car and the characters with their ghostcatching equipment!

First; as you point out, Vietcong was developed by Pterodon while Hidden & Dangerous 2 was developed by Illusion Softworks. Both titles were published by Take2 in EU and Gathering in the US. Both developers are from the Czech Republic. Secondly; saying that H&D2 was rushed out the door...do you have any idea how long this game was in development? The development for H&D2 started in august 1999, and the game was released in october 2003. A little over 4 years... but some of the reasons were trouble inside the company. In 2001, both the lead designer and lead AI programmer quit their jobs at Illusion. This delayed the game quite a lot. I did like Vietcong as a game, but it never delivered 100% for me. Some things in Vietcong are great, but ultimately it failed in hooking me in. H&D2 is not great in every department, but it feels and plays much better than VC (IMHO!). I also have to state that I like WWII games more than Vietnam era games, but to get down to the point; for me, H&D2 is a much more immersive FPS experience than Vietcong.

Good to see at least some on this forum has a sense of humor... I was thinking... maybe Placebo or some other moderator could make this a sticky thread? A thread where everyone can make their requests for funny and off-the-wall addons and mods? I can keep this thread alive pretty much myself... Out of lots of crazy suggestion, surely at least something can be made into addons? But I mean it seriously, make it sticky and rename it to the official funny addon request thread or something like that. And remember to bring a sense of humor in this thread...

Great...but there will be a lot of upset swedes here if you use Llauma's map... Â Â Anyone wanna hear some great swedish jokes? I'll do one anyways; Do you know why all swedes line up in their frontdoors and smile if there's lightning outside? ...they think someone is taking a picture of them! What's funny is the joke war between Norway and Sweden...it's basically the same jokes, we just replace norwegians with swedes... Â

I could mention Battlefield Vietnam of course. It can be immersing enough if you play on the right servers with the right people... And there are spoken Vietnamese language in the game...if it's accurate and spoken by real Vietnamese I don't know? ...and as someone mentioned in your old thread; Day of Defeat (although the commercial release is shite...DoD was very good when it was a mod and up untill beta 3.0...now I'm just waiting to see how DoD: Source will be... )

The idea is good, but you have to get another euromap! The one you linked to have cut Norway in half... (No problem for me personally, as I live in the south of Norway...thank god! but there might be some polarbears from the north?) Also Sweden and Finland suffers on the map. But as I said; good idea!

Oh I'm full of crazy ideas these days... Here's some more suggestions: -A Batman mod, with Batman, Robin, The Joker, The Riddler, Catwoman, Penguin, the Batmobile, the batcave...etc... -Other kinds of superhero addons (Superman, X-men, etc.) -Islands of reallife holiday resorts (there's already a thread about it, but I mention it again here), like Ibiza, Kho Pi Pi, Phuket, Gran Canaria etc... with lots of discos etc... -Ambulances, firetrucks, policecars with stations, officers and the works - with missions for each one of them -A Police Academy addon (from the movies - we need more humor in OFP) At least, some ideas.... But how about the Postman Pat mod? I wanna drive around in that red car with the cat and sing along to the tune And I really hope someone makes the Village People and Teletubbies addons!

Hidden & Dangerous 2 is a pretty immersive FPS experience. The Splinter Cell series are also immersive, but then again; they're not FPS games, but 3rd pers. To mention some older games that I found immersive at the time; the Rainbow Six series... especially Rogue Spear/UO/COE. Not much else that springs to mind and/or fits your requirements. OFP has been the ultimate immersive gaming experience for me ever since it came out.
