This is turning into an interesting saga... do you know who has the tape? Is it still Zzzzz who has it then?
-
Well... isn't that just great... I wonder when... if at all!... we will get any kind of update or info on OFP 2 and OFP Xbox... If this is true, it sucks big time! ...oh well, time to start working on my other gaming sites I guess. Flashpoint2source doesen't exactly require much work or time...

Just a little sidenote since we're talking about consoles... Look what happened to Ghost Recon 2. First it were announced for all formats. Then they released the (very) different versions for consoles. And now, a couple of days ago, UBI announced that they had cancelled GR2 for PC...  The reason; they have announced GR 3 for all formats at the end of this year, and had to put all resources into the PC version of GR3. They also felt GR2 wouldn't make a good PC game... So, the morons at UBI have forgotten all about who made the GR series... that's right; the PC gamer crowd... not the console crowd. As I said somewhere before; UBI have killed off the entire Rainbow Six/Ghost Recon series for PC gamers  I'm betting R6: Lockdown will be just a dumbed-down console port for the PC... and probably GR 3 will be just the same. So, to get a little on-topic again; I'm glad BIS are going the other way around. Porting PC versions to consoles that is. But if it's possible, why not port OFP 2 to the Xbox 360 later on?
-
According to one of the recent interviews with placebo, OFP for Xbox2/360 is not being worked on at all. They had enough with OFP Xbox and OFP 2. Of course, I don't trust anyone or anything... so they might be working on or considering something for the new Xbox. The new Xbox will be revealed at MTV, and not E3 BTW.
-
Well, now it's been 2 months since I started this thread, and we're none the wiser. At least, we will get the answer to my first question in a months time or so (the question being if OFP 2 will be shown at this years E3). Waiting for OFP 2 and any information about it, is turning into a long, dark (blind?) alley.
-
Any developer that has a publishing contract with a publisher, will have to show them at the publishers stand (in most cases anyway). I would say it is 99% certain that BIS will be at the Codies stand at E3 this year. However if they will have anything from OFP 2 is far more uncertain... expect to see OFP Xbox though. I'm still waiting for the interview Claire from Codemasters had with Marek at last years E3... Supposedly he said some things about OFP 2... but the interview has never been published. First it went to various community liason persons at Codies - none of them managed to publish it. Last I heard, it were Placebo that had the tape with the interview and were going to get it published... almost a year now! What's up with not releasing this? And if it's never meant to be published; for gods sake just tell us!
-
Why not explane it then It's obvious that they feel we don't need/deserve an explanation on the matters. Why? You tell me... I wonder if we'll ever get any explanations on what's been going on the last year and a half. Or if they'll just release the games and stick to give information on just the games.
-
I see alot of other games from other publishers that's not on the list, which ought to be at E3. So this list is by no means final. We'll just have to wait for the official lineup from Codies themselves. But if it comes to this (only showing OFP for Xbox and not OFP 2), my predictions from some time back comes true... 39 days left to E3. I will say this; if nothing is shown from OFP 2 or any info given on OFP 2 at either E3 or before this summer - what will the community do? We were greatly disappointed on numerous occations during 2004 (OFP 2 first being announced, then pulled from E3 and the delay announcement in august as the worst cases). How much more can we take? I know patience is a virtue... but so much time has passed without any info on OFP 2, that BIS and Codies should really start giving us some info on what's going on. But I guess they have their reasons for it...
-
I can't really see how OFP 2 will be released before the estimated date. Although I sure could hope for it, I'm also realistic about it. I can't remember any game that this has happened to - delays are the rule in this industry. As for revenue; OFP Xbox will be released this summer (hopefully...) and should bring in some cash (although I'm not sure if this game will be a big hit on the Xbox ). Also, I would suspect VBS1 keeps BIS going financially. I'd say OFP 2 will come sometime in the period may 2006-may 2007.

Why not get Llauma to publish them on his Operation Flashpoint 2 - unofficial news site ? Perfect match if you ask me -

Just something I threw together; -
This years expo at E3, is may 18-20. Expect Codemasters to announce their E3 lineup sometime around mid/end april. Where did you read that OFP 2 definitely will be at this years E3? (I say trust no one... we all remember last years E3 screwup... )
-
Question is, how much work has been done on OFP 2 so far? Is the graphics engine done yet? No one outside BIS knows... Well, hopefully we will get the first screens from OFP 2 at this years E3. I certainly hope they are at least as good-looking as the 8 screens from Enemy in Sight. Now, graphics ain't everything in a game... but let's face it; all of us hope for at least something similar or better than VBS1.
-
Might as well ask here... Has there ever been made a US ambulance as an addon for OFP? Something like this: I can't remember seeing one, but who knows... maybe I have overlooked it There is a US firetruck and US policecars, but to my knowledge no ambulance? If there are none... well at least it is an idea for addonmakers out there?
-
You can never have too many PC's I have 2 PC's running now, and enough parts to have at least one more up and running... I know, I have too much hardware floating around... something my missus reminds me of constantly
-
Hehe, I was aware of that But I just love conspiracy plots (watched too much X Files perhaps... ). As long as I put it like this: I hope most people understand what the means And, of course we can have fun with stuff like this
-
Yes, most bets are on for them being there and showing us OFP 2. But... if OFP ships in late 2006, then they can show it at E3 2006, and still have maybe 5-7 months before they release it. So, we just have to wait a month or so to get it confirmed.
-
You mean like don't buy a new PC ever? For us gamers, that has never been an option. I will build a new gaming rig this summer, my old one from summer 2003 isn't quite cutting it anymore in the newer games. Hopefully it will play OFP 2 quite nicely, although it will come out a year (or more...) after I've put it togheter. (For those interested, it will be something like this: AMD64 3500+, 1 gig dualchannel ram, Radeon X850XT PE 256MB, DFI Lanparty UT NF4 Ultra-D mobo and a WD 74GB Raptor hdd... + other stash as well, but those are the key components)

Hmmm, so the plot thickens
-
Hmmm yeah... it is a theory  How far is it from Prague to Brno? As far as I know, BIS have its headquarters somewhere in Prague, while IS is based in Brno. It would be quite da bomb if this were to be the case  But what would Codemasters say... if suddenly Atari is publishing it instead of them... Well theories aside; it's safe to say this is two separate games, and maybe it's about time OFP got some serious competition? EDIT: I see IS have a registered adress in Prague as well: Illusion Softworks, a.s. Opatovická 4 110 00 Praha 1 Czech Republic While their headquarter is in Brno: Illusion Softworks, a.s. Hlinky 118c 603 00 Brno Czech Republic

Fortunately you're one of the few with that opinion. H&D 2 with Sabre Sqaudron is one of the best WWII games so far (singleplayer wise). But you're entitled to your opinion... but my opinion is that H&D 2 is a great game, so i totally disagree with you. BTW: since you obviously have played both Mafia and H&D 2... how come you still thought that IS were a publisher?
-
Well, you're wrong on that one. Atari are indeed the publishers, but Illusion Softworks are a developer (if you've read the thread, they're the developer behind such titles as the Hidden & Dangerous series, Vietcong and Mafia...). So, IS are the developers of Enemy in Sight. Competition is always healthy, and although this game is resembling OFP in some ways, I for one will follow this game closely. So far it sounds and looks promising (but I will have to see more than 2 screenshots before I fall head over heels).

Ok, the other interview with placebo is online... only catch is the fact that it's only in polish so far... eJay has promised to put up a english version sometime over the next few days... until then; any nice polish people here who cares to give us the highlights? Interview is here - at GRY Online!

uummmm... no, you don't HAVE to pay... Fileplanet offers 2 types of dl servers: High-Speed Servers for FilePlanet Subscribers & Free Public Servers (but at times you have to wait in line for lenghty periods of time...) You do however need to have gamespy account, but that's also free in its basic form. Well, that said... have you looked HERE?

Yes, I'm aware of all those other civilan and military ambulances. But as I suspected there is no US ambulances made So, how about it; anyone up for the challenge of making one?
