    Beautiful! Am I to understand that your SAM launcher vehicles are going to need a targeting radar in order to be able to engage targets? In other words if the targeting radar is knocked out will the launcher vehicles be unable to fire?

    Seeing you did such an excellent work on the Kuznetsov i nominate you for the job! This ship's model needs a lot of fixing! It's as if the author was making it up! The flaws on the Nimitz model that worst sting my are mainly on the rear section of the ship (the part the original author didn't have time to complete). The helo platform shouldn't be there at all, the aft ramp is too steeply angled, the aft port part of the deck is terrible, and the defensive weapons (Sea Sparrow launchers & Phalanx CIWS) have no similarities to their real-life counterparts! And what's that radar antenna doing where the meatball is supposed to be?! It's gonna fry every living thing walking on the flight deck!!

    I actually did plan to make my own F-16, but the amount of work was just daunting. Not to mention I have zero modding experience. If I ever get into modding, A decent F-16 will be my first project. KPH I don’t see the point in running a calculation script that will add lag to the game. What I meant to say was that if you're going to use absolute values, or will the speeds be 'scale-shifted' to better fit the OFP world for gameplay issues. For example, if an aircraft's stall speed would be 100 kts(~180Km/h) in real life it would be 100Km/h in the OFP world. Same kind of 'scale-shift' should apply to radar and missile ranges and velocities as well... IMHO Oh! by the way.. Red or orange gun round tracers instead of bright yellow helps in air-to-air gunnery in broad daylight.

    Sorry... I've been away for a while, and I have a lot of catching up to do in the forums, so I just quickly browsed through the thread (stopping for a minute to admire the pictures ). Hardrock doesn't seem to be releasing his Eurofighter anytime soon, but I doubt he's going to cancel it or anything. It's far to near completion! Anyway... that definately shouldn't stop you from making an Eurofighter, but maybe move the priority a bit to something like... idunno... Harrier Gr.7/9? Good point about the world of M4s out there, but an aircraft addon is something a bit bigger. My point is that if you decide to make an aircraft addon, it's so big a project that it needs to be made just right! The reason there are no high-quality F-16s out there is because there are so many low-quality ones. (No offence to Footmunch and Vit) Excellent! Will the airspeed be considered as knots or Kph? Are they automatic, or do they have to be accessed by action menu? Ah! Another good feature learned from the French Jaguar If implemented, Could it be possible to use the same kind of RWR display feature as in the DKM's Mi-28, where you can check which direction the incoming missile is coming from from the RWR display? Overall I'm pretty convinced this will be good! Don't forget to give the ASRAAMs a good off-boresight lock-on capability and agility!

    Best East Fighter Plane!

    I've done some testing and here are the results: The award for the best East fighter goes to: SU-27 beta by Spetsnaz mod!! Su-27 by Spetsnaz mod is by far the best modern Russian fighter, I've come across in the OFP community... and it's still just a beta! It's accurately modeled, has a lot of good features such as animated canopy and gear, map display, a working HUD(heading, airspeed and altitude, but no attitude indicator), HUD-view, Sorbitsya jammer and an afterburner that is engaged simply by holding the "fast forward" key instead of the clumbsy action menu which is unique to this aircraft, and it handles like a dream! However, it doesn't (yet) have much variety in weapons. It's only armed with the GSh-30-1 cannon and a full load of AA-10 Alamo missiles, both of which seem incredibly accurately modeled! I expect to see future versions include AA-11 Archers in the loadout with a high off-boresight lock-on capability and high agility. Also its nosewheel steering radius on the ground seems a bit too large (as with most OFP planes), and it shares the same problem with Hudson&Pennywise's Hornet of starting at a terribly high airspeed in the air. Also it would be useful in a dogfight, if you would be able to look around more in the cockpit (something the BOH addonmakers have already figured out). Still this addon does justice to the impressive air superiority fighter the Su-27 is! Another good eastern plane is the ubiquitous MiG-21 Bis by FDF mod. A fighter that is much needed in the OFP community (but which the FDF team seems to be reluctant to sharing unless you have something to offer in return). The author has put a lot of effort in perfecting the model of this fighter and it really shows! It has features such as a HUD, opening canopy, animated gears, afterburner(although accessed through action menu :P), and a break chute. That said it does have its flaws. AI will always eventually crash it and its handling is touchy, since most of the times it seems to get out of control. It also comes with only one weapons configuration, and its AA missiles are only good for taking down slow-flying targets such as helos. Then there is Seademon's MiG-29. Terrible ground steering and sideslipping that plagued the earlier versions have been fixed in V 3.0, but it still has faulty GSh-30-1 ammunition capacity. Afterburner effects, which are inconviniently engaged from the action menu, are exagerated(as well is the break chute) and last only for a couple of seconds at a time. Flares are treated as a weapon class, and in order for them to work, you have to have the wepon selected. This is very uncomfortable in a combat situation (I usually just out-maneuver the incoming missile)! The 3d model is nice, but the textures could be better. Cockpit is photorealistic, gauges are readable, but there is no working hud ...just some decorative symbology. The plane handles quite nicely though! Another good aircraft worth checking is TomiD's Su-39. It has New loadouts, animated gears and an optics view(useful for landings), but still has the old BIS Su-25 cockpit.

    These projects caught my attention, especially the Tornados since the G8 ones are getting quite old. I'm gonna have to question the need for an RAF Eurofighter... I thought this was covered by Hardrock (although his release has been continuously postponed). I'd also like to request some features for the Tornados (and other aircraft for that matter): -HUD: Assuming these versions will incorporate a working HUD, I suggest you make the horizon ball big enough for the pitch lines to coincide with the horizon. Might take a lot of trial and error, but the results speak for themselves! Take a look at the French Jaguars and you see what I mean. -Try not to clutter the action menu with too many items! Things such as countermeasures release and canopy opening should be automatic and for afterburner you could follow the example of the Spetsnaz's SU-27 and bind the afterburner effect with "fast forward" key. -Nosewheel steering: Idreally the plane's turning radius should be less than the aircraft's wingspan. -Afterburner: Most aicraft addonmakers tend to exagerate the effectiveness of their afterburners. Please don't make this mistake! Continuous climbing straight up even in full afterburner should eventually result in a stall. Good luck with your projects!

  18. Upon launching OFP:R Catalyst seems to reset the gamma to default, which is way too dark. Even when I leave OFP the gamma setting remains on desktop. I can restore the gamma by readjusting it from the Catalyst control center colors page (When I tried it on Catalyst control panel I got a runtime error message). I don't have this problem with my other games such as BF1942 or BF2. My graphics card is an ATI X600 and I have the catalyst drivers version 5.9 with catalyst control center on XP environment.

    I tried Omega as well as Rage3d. Omega drivers fixed the problem with BF1942 and other games, but the problem persists in OFP:R Do you suppose dxdll might have something to do with it?

    Correction... it seems as if it applies to ALL of my 3d games! Catalyst won't keep the gamma settings I adjusted in the control panel, but resets to default whenever launching a game! I tried installing an older gamma-hotfix for catalyst 4.2-4.4, but I got an "inf error". I'm really up a creek with this one! Please help!

    If you're talking about the famous video where the chaingun rips apart suspected iraqi insurgents stashing weapons, it looked to me as if it fired 20-round bursts every time. The ammo counter confirms that.

    I don't understand how the AH-1 HUD is a necessity... DKM doesn't seem to have it with their Mi-28 How about the ability to select burst lengths from the action menu? That might clutter it up too much though I'd be happy if the cannon fired only in 20-round bursts too.

    By far the most realistic AH-64 addon out there! You have certainly done your homework! Brings back memories from my Longbow 2 days! Are you planning to remove the AH-1's TOW aiming boxes from the IHADDs? As you probably know, AH-64's Hydra pods can elevate following the locked target up and down, but not side to side. Do you have any plans for any kind of workaround to make it work in the game? Could it be possible to make the cannon fire in selectable bursts of 10, 20, 50 and 100 rounds? The cursor changes to the correct symbology according to the selected weapon. Nice touch, but could it be done that it is the selected target indicator that changes to the respective symbology rather than the cursor? In fact, could the Target box and the "locked"-diamond be replaced with dashed(selected) and solid(locked) symbology?
