Error when trying to go to "next page"

Just to agree that it's not only you with this problem. Get the problem with Netscape (4.78) on Unix Workstation and Explorer (5.0) on WinNT. I couldn't even use the Reply button but had to use the Quote button to write this post..... Quite annoying  (btw: I can't upgrade the versions since I'm not the Admin...) wkr WhoCares

Lock up on Multiplayer game EXIT only

If you still encounter this problem, you might try to send config.bin and flashpoint.rpt to support@bistudio.com, as stated in the famous Betatest_Rules (Dealing with crashes) wkr WhoCares

    ideas for userfriendly public MP

Well Gandalf, I don't really get your problem with OFP and BIs here. All I get out of your post is that you don't like (some) user-made MP-missions, but nobody really forces you to play them. (except if an admin is logged on the server, but you have to admit that he chooses the map he wants to play, since he paid for the maschine/connection...) There are some fine official missions delivered with OFP and Upgrades. About the custom addons, that's just another issue for the mission designer and maybe the admin, to state clearly in the mission description and the motd statement (-> check the DS description), that it uses custom addons. (some server even have names, which show they use addons...) For more detailed description of the ded. server, see the according descriptions (admin AND client) published with Upgrade 3: Coldwar The only problem that bothered me was the voting for missions, but that would be solved in 1.35, as stated by BIs some days ago. wkr WhoCares

    f***ing bad support by BIS

Maybe, it's just because the amount of posts per day is only about one-hundredth then in the english forums. Additionally, I suppose there is less spam and nonsense posts, since these people can expect more response in the english forum... And I suppose, that there are less offending posts - so they might have more satisfaction in checking them, then see complains starting with f***ing...... A little correction: relation is about 200english/1czech posts (Edited by WhoCares at 2:20 pm on Dec. 7, 2001)

    Gold Upgrade strategy guide

Bought yesterday the Gold upgrade and read a little bit in the Strategy guide (german version). And partially I didn't like what I read. For some CTF-Missions they suggest to stay as far away from the flag as possible and sniper those who try to take it, saying to regard it just as a another deathmatch. That's already a little bit weird, since we can go and remove the flag if everybody plays like that. But even worse (imho), they suggest base-raping at least for one of the team flagfights... Well, those following theses strategies might win, but (imho) they might spoil MP gameplay alot... wkr WhoCares

    # VOTE vote list

...and additionally it would be fine to see all(?) the other # commands, maybe separated by admin and client commands. e.g. the admin #shutdown

Why has the forum slowed down?

I hope it's 1 and in fact, I prefer it this way. Just check the Betatest forum with four post of Suma on top for about an hour. I especially like the one, where he tells two guys to move there personnel quarrels somewhere else. I suppose, many useful threads died because some peoples offended/felt offended (by) others and it went completly off-topic this way. I prefer less but useful posts/threads, then loads of bullsh*t... (and I suppose BIs do so as well... ) wkr WhoCares (Edited by WhoCares at 9:59 am on Nov. 30, 2001)

    CTF Discussion

@Pete: This might be a prob with few players, that's true. But then you can add some AIs and he might blow up one of them (CTF with two players only might be boring anyhow). Satchel is not that worse, since he has to go to the flag himself to place it, what makes him vulnerable. A sniper would be a bigger prob. With a Team-CTF you must expect, that someone left behind to protect the flag. And in a common CTF it's a tactic to wait for the enemy closing in, kill him and then take the flag by yourself, knowing that it's less dangerous with one less in the area. And if you respawn and nobody has taken the flag - well, now you know, that there is someone around waiting for you... As I said before, only respawn area camping is bad, since you can't control the way you enter it (except if you avoid to be killed

    CTF Discussion

The respawn area camping is a bit more critical imho. Just check the new CTF mission, where the US respawn area is covered with bushes and behind a 'hill', but the russian one on an open slope. I played it offline, just got the sniper rifle, went some steps up the hill and could control the russians respawn area... However, camping at the flag is a different thing, since its the opponents risc to enter a nonsecured area. Like the other official map, were the flag is next to this shed with an ammo crate inside - what would have been the idea of the mission designer???

    C02

@Crazed Killa: Don't talk about this d*amned sniper! I took out the armored counter attack at least 10 times and got suddenly shot right after this. I hadn't the patience to check who killed me but reloaded immediatly till I gave it up for that evening - and then I saw him... Next time I had a RPG-round just with his name on it (Edited by WhoCares at 10:28 am on Nov. 16, 2001)
  12. ... of a mission like this: Intro: -Bored squad in the night around a Heli-Base, with just the Leader having Night vision goggles (NVGs). -Boom - Heli-Base blown up -Choppers return from Night mission destroying the ships which should evaquate the Spec-Ops with there last shots! The SOps have to cross now our teritory and we have to track them down with support of the Choppers with their searchlights! So, simple question: Is it possible to have an AI-pilot tracking the enemy with the searchlights? I could also imagine a TDM or TCTF in the night with choppers as source of light (with player as pilot would be easier... PS: If sombody knows about such mission(s) or feels incited to create one I would be glad to hear. (sounds like a bit huge for the first one wkr WhoCares

    Tracking with searchlight?

Well, for sure the Choppers should report the position of the enemy. But the point is, that you would have no chance in such a mission if the chopper doesn't keep the searchlight on the enemy, since you won't see him w/o NVGs, if they don't track them with the searchlight. (just like police choppers do)

    New Guns

Well, I would suggest a MG42 for resistance. (pretty popular, e.g. in Kosovo)

    Bomber are a mint idea

I agree with those who say that we don't need bombers. Bombers are usually used against strategical targets and quiet ineffective against infantry. (I doubt that one taliban fighter was killed per bomb dropped by US). Furthermore, bombers often attack from high altitude (esp. if enemy radar capability is weak). Imagine you are gunner in a Shilka and the bomber attacks at 1500m - you can't see him due to the view_distance limitation - good luck wkr WhoCares
