    Desert storm new beta!

DOH! When I said right, I meant correct. Earlier birds had the rotor on the left side of the tail: http://incolor.inebraska.com/iceman/data/uh-1m-9.jpg While I was looking for evidence, I found this site. Check the "Aircraft Recognition Section." Very cool stop for modellers. http://incolor.inebraska.com/iceman/ Confirms that when they reached the UH1N, they did switch sides. My mistake.

Hmmm. I stand corrected. It's certainly right with the earlier hueys; I have models of the B and D on a table not too far away.

    New helicopter in resistance

The Mi2 is a lightweight ute. There probably is a civilian version, and given the Eastbloc style of previous civvie kit, a bit liklier than an MD500, Jetranger, Soux, Alouette or Gazelle.

if it's for the resisitance, my guess is an Mi2. The Reds need something in that class.

Max. speed : 1,452mph (2,336km/h) at 36,000ft (11,000m) and it probably takes about ten minutes in a straight line to get to that speed, and the tornado's wings are made so it has high manouverability at low speed, and with the lgb's it only needs a laser target and if not use them as dumb 2000lb bombs, the brimstone: snip--- i was considering going with '1985' sort of plane but the tornado didnt see action until 1991 so theres no point...<span id='postcolor'> Actually how you described the HARM missile is only ONE mode that the missle has called a "Loitering" capability. Â For example in real life, when an enemy AA facility detects a HARM launch, they will shut off their radar to protect themselves from the HARM missle. Â Sometimes the HARM will remember the location (if it's close enough) and strike the radar or very close to it. Â However it will usually then go into its secondary mode which is when it zooms up to 30,000 feet and slowly descends on a parachute. Â Only when it detects a radar turning on again will it release the parachute and fly towards that radar. Â However for OFP, you DON'T need to include that loitering capability. Â It's normal mode has it acting basically exactly as a Maverick missle, however it should only lock onto any AA threat that has a radar like the Shilka or Vulcan. Â Actually I believe it can also lock onto airborne radars as well...but I'm not for certain how effective it is as an AA missle. Â But keep reading up on it. Â If you can figure out how to make it lock onto only Shilkas (or Vulcans) then you'd be in business. Â "Wild Weasels" would be awesome! Â Those pilots in real life have cajones the size of melons!!! Â But then again so do pilots who fly "runway denial" missions. Â They took heavy losses in the Gulf War. Â They work better in hill, mountainous terrain, not desert terrain where radar and gunners can see them coming from far away and then line them up easily with their AA guns. Â If anyone here has ever seen them operating in England practicing low level flying I think you'd agree that they have cajones of steel. Â Personally I just want to see the JP233 munitions dispenser in OFP. Â For one thing I think it would be VERY feasible to make this weapon system in OFP (Much easier then a cluster bomb), and it would just be so awesome to hold down the trigger as you release all those bomblets over a target area and look back behind you to see them exploding in a big trail of distruction. Â Â PLEEEEAAASE add this weapon system. Â It would be make the Tornado a thousand times funner to fly. Â Just remember that it's not a bomb, it's a dispenser that simply releases lots of bomblets while it stays on the aircraft. Â Just use a script that creates "handgrenade" objects just under the aircraft everytime the trigger is pressed with maybe .05 second increments. Â The hard part would be scripting that where it's a function of the firing button (weapons release). Â If worse comes to worse I guess I could just simulate JP233 runs using a script on a map. Â If anyone is interested I can make a demonstration mission with using an A10 that shows what a JP233 attack should look like (using a script). Â Â I'm going to start working on that right now. Â Maybe that will get some ideas going. Â Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD><span id='postcolor'> He means ALARM not HARM. God, a weapon like that makes you proud to be British. Correction; a weapon like that makes you feel SAFER to be British!

    Paintball sniper rifle

Damn this one got me thinking about the old days I used to own a Budd-Orr Ranger. One thing about that puppy was that the barrels were removeable, and in fact identical to the barrels on it's big bro, the Budd-Orr Sniper. I just had a quick look, and the same basic design is still considered current. You can buy a barrel ready made. You'll have to check prices, though. Then all you have to do is remove the chuckker's current barrel, drill out the receiver precisely with the correct thread, and screw in a 21" precision honed tube in its place. A doddle.

Inner tube drilled with holes to vent the gas into the main tube which was filled with something like scotchbrite. Within about 45 degrees of the naughty end it was quite loud, but outside that arc it made an appreciable difference to the noise level. Didn't matter. anybody within 45 degrees of my muzzle was walking anyway.

There's a hint in there somewhere BTW, the ADV is only used by the UK. the fuselage forward of the engine intakes is somewhat different; about 3 metres longer, if I remember right. So it wouldn't be just a matter of reskinning this very fine model, you would need a new one. But I wouldn't bother with the ADV anyway. The IDS carries up to four Sidewinders for self defence on top of its strike armament, and that should be enough for the purposes of OFP.

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote (MDRZulu @ June 15 2002,13:05)</td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">A friend and I want to construct a paintball sniper rifle for some reason. We know very little about paintball guns and how they work. We basically want to buy a gun that costs no more that $100 and modify it with the rest all homemade parts. So if you know anything about paintball guns try to answer some of these questions and remember we dont want to buy any other manufactured parts. 1. The hardest part, how can we make an extended barrell that is the right radius, is there any metal orplastic piping that is the size of paintballs. 2. what is the standard radius of a paintball barrell. 3. How can we increase the velocity a bit without breaking the ball and 4. how can we increase the accuracy. 5. Any accessories you would reccomend like a bipod, certain type of stock etc. Â And dont say you cant do it because we are going to try to do it anyway so it will just be a waste of your time to say that. Ok thankyou to whoever helps me out.<span id='postcolor'> It's been over 10 years since I played, but I guess somethings remain the same. 1. Visit a pipe supplier, though I think you understimate the problems you are going to face. 2. The standard calibre was, and remains .68" 3. The maximum velocity allowed in tournament was, and probably still is 300 feet per second. I have seen an old Sheridan jacked up to 450+ fps over the chronograph without shattering the rounds. I also saw that same gun hit a bloke's hand and crush a ring he was wearing so badly that he was taken to hospital to get it cut off. He returned to the site a few weeks later, grabbed the gun off its owner and smacked him over the head with the butt. I suggest you do not tamper with muzzle velocity. 4. If you find a suitable barrel, get a gunsmith to hone the inner as finely as possible. Another trick was to have the final few inches of the barrel drilled through in a helical pattern; this serves to impart spin to the round; about as close as a paintgun can get to rifling. Muzzle brakes were/are available which were supposed to have the same effect. 5. sights? I tried many types, and had most succes with bog-standard open sights. scopes of various kinds look cool, but I wouldn't say they particularly helped. Lasers are bloody useless, except in low-light conditions. stocks and grips are just a matter of personal taste, but a good silencer can be an asset. That's it. I'd be interested to see how you get on.

    2 questions about wrpedit

If they considered it illegal, I think BIS would have commented by now. After all this is their forum. As for importing maps, you must be doing something wrong. I never had any problems. Mind you, I can't get the OFP engine to recognise them.
