    Flickering guns

I have a 8500 LE Radeon card with 64 mb ram and have the same problem. Disabling HW T&L seems to solve the problem. I have read somewhere (Avon lady ofp faq) that installing the newest directx drivers (version 8.1b i think) should solve the problem also. I have not tested that so far.

    Cannot memory map file res/addons/o.pbo

I had the same error (memory-map resistance.pbo) just after a fresh install from 1.00 --> 1.30 --> 1.46 --> resistance 1.75 and using the auto-detect settings. My config: Athlon XP 1900+ Asus A7V333 mainboard 512 mb ddr sdram Hercules Radeon FDX 8500 LE graphics card Windows 98 se All with default drivers (as supplied with the hardware) no other software running exept volume control. I restarted the pc and had no error anymore (strange), the resistance campaign loaded correctly and the intro started. However, in the 3th scene the computer just freezes, sound stops and only a reset helps - it seems the scene is to 'heavy' for the pc and makes it freeze. I was able to fix the freezes by changing the ground detail to normal. -edit- the background cutscene in the mainmenu on the desert island seems to be affected directly when changing ground detail from high to normal (no slightly stuttering image anymore). Then I tried to start the original campaign, however I got the memory-map errror again. I was able to solve the memory-map error by changing the agp apperture size to 64 mb (was 256 mb) I had Windows XP Prof installed, and had no problems with freezes or errors about memory-map (same drivers as win98se, no unofficial addons and agp aperture 256 mb). I had a few crashes to desktop that appeared unexpected, but I removed XP because I had other problems with this OS (not-ofp related).

    Sith...?

I can understand why many polls are locked lately. 1) Often a poll has few options to choose from so the result of the poll will not give an accurate image, the result will be somehow 'forced'... This is not always the fault of the poll starter (10 option limit). 2) We have seen many polls with 'wanted feature', 'most annoying bug' etc. There has been a tread from the developers about what to fix in the next patch, there where tons of replies so I think the most reported bugs will be fixed. We don't need another poll... Just my thoughts about this.

What to fix in the next patch

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE"></span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">2: Bouncing vehicles when shot at with rifles (believe this is only for unmanned vehicles...)<span id='postcolor'> Can anyone give more details to it? Is it more problem in sp or mp? I am trying to reproduce it in single player but so far it doesn't look that bad. It looks not very nice for M113 (actually, it's really funny) but it's not happening to cars and other vehicles I tested so far that much. After my testing this bug seems to be minor problem but I see many people have complained about it so maybe I missed something.<span id='postcolor'> With 1.40 I noticed the bumping of a BMP in Red Hammer mission where you assault the beach with BMPs. I did some testing in the mission editor (version 1.42) and placed myself as a russian soldier on the map, with a BMP with crew. I fired at the bmp, and noticed that the vehicle moves up and than down on it's tires or tracks. It keeps down for a few seconds and than comes up again, and you can repeat this again. Other vehicles seem to be slightly above the ground, when you shoot at them the move down on the ground and tires/tracks come more to the vehicle. Other bugs/improvement suggestions: [*]when you look through transparent things (windows) you sometimes can't see other units. [*]Tanks are slow when going uphill [*]Graphics: improve clipping if possible [*]empty or dead tanks are sometimes able to move [*]AI soldiers have problem navigating through forests sometimes. An ejected AI gunner couldn't get out of the forest. [*]Tanks can't drive between houses very well: they bump into structures. [*]When hiding in bushes and shooting at enemy AI soldiers, they are unable to discover my location or (randomly) fire at me. The just run towards my location and sometimes are almost standing on me.

Maybe BIS can give us a list with known bugs, and an indication which bugs will be fixed in a future patch.

    1.4 Single player bugs

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote (Greg @ Jan. 13 2002,07:13)</td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">2) I now have Geforce3ti and I often see a very green tinge in one part of  the sky, during sunrise I think.  This may not be a bug, but I never noticed it before.<span id='postcolor'> I have Riva TNT2 M64 with 32mb RAM onboard video, and until 1.40 I have *never* experienced this problem. Since 1.40, when flying a chopper or airplane sometimes I see a green surface in the sky. I am not sure under which conditions this happens. I would like to add the following: 1) Vehicles are bouncing when you shoot at them (will not be fixed in the next patch, maybe in a later patch, according to the developers) 2) AI soldiers seem to have problems with navigating through forests sometimes. I have experienced this once when I was pilot on a chopper (AH64) and ordered my gunner (AI) to eject. I also ejected and began a search for my gunner. I couldn't find him, so I gave him a move order. He answered negative. After 2 minutes, I finally found him at the border of the forest. He had a direct line of sight with no obvious obstructions in his path, but he couldn't get to me. 3) The radio voice seems to go wrong sometimes. This happens in Singleplayer only so far. Parts of messages are repeated (I do not mean the 'damn, x is down' repeating message bug) for example 'ONE, POSITION Dee34' (extra 'e'). I am not sure under which conditions these happens, but I experience this since 1.00 I think. It might be related to my system, since other users have not reported this bug. My system: PIII 500 Mhz, 192 MB SDRAM, Creative PCI 128 onboard, WD 13 gb harddisk with 1,5 gb free
  8. I would like to add the following: * Vehicles are bouncing when you shoot at them * AI soldiers sometimes seem to have problems navigating when they are in a forest: they won't fall back into formation or move to the assigned position (answer: 'negative'). I am not sure if this problem still exists in bases (getting in and out of bases bug).

    Bugs in 1.40

    Bugs in 1.40

This is even with direct orders to get back into formation or move orders. (I reckon they should all be courtmarshalled!).<p>On the subject of troops, the medic hardly ever heals himself when wounded, or worse still gets stuck...I give him an order...he responds...supporting..?...who...supporting who...oh I see that dead soldier lying next to him!<span id='postcolor'> I have experienced a problem (singleplayer) when I was flying a AH64 and ordered my gunner (AI) to eject. He landed in a forest. I also ejected and ordered the gunner to return to formation. He answered 'roger' but a few seconds later 'negative'. He was standing near the edge of the forest and couldn't get to me while he could see me, the distance was around 50 meter! I also experienced a problem with the medic when playing a mission from Red Hammer. I ordered the medic to return to formation but he reported 'Supporting'. A unit named Kilo ordered him to give support (blue text on the radio line). I suspect that Kilo is probably a leader of another squad (AI) which did not has a medic anymore at that time, the medic was ordered to 'go to x' by kilo.

    What will be fixed.

1 I would like to see the bounching vehicle bug (when you shoot at them) fixed. 2 Some objects (like trabant) are not visible when you view through windows in the game. Will this be fixed? And to answer an other FAQ: There where rumours about a possible addon to be released in April 2002. Well, the dutch website gamers.nl has received a list of game releases in 2002 by Codemasters. Guess what? Operation Flashpoint Expansion is in the list! It is expected in June 2002.

    The "Official" Prima Strategy guide

I am the owner of the dutch strategy guide. First of all, translation seems to be done too quick: layout codes are visible in the text, there are some grammar errors, and some english terms are translated wrong. I agree that the walkthrough for the 1985 campaign is too late. It is however a good walkthrough. The multiplayer section gives you some tactics and hints, it's pretty good. The mission editing section gives a overview of many options in the editor. Nice for beginning mission editors. Overall, it is a good strategy guide. I really would like to see a Operation Flashpoint Guide with *all* the information, like: unit/vehicles/weapon profiles, info about the OFP settings, common tactics, multiplayer information, mission editing etc etc. I realize this information is available on the web, but the information in one book would be could especially since the official game manual is very thrifty with this information.
  13. Is a walkthrough for the Red Hammer campaign available on the internet?
