    Norwegian Forces Pack

Hey granQ, old hand from the OFP/CWA and Arma2 NorFor crowd here, ready to help with this. Norwegian speaker. Not great with textures but I can help with photos/source material. Good knowledge of units, patches etc. Also have some personal kit at home here if you need photo references. Let me know what I can do. To start off - Norwegian version of Combatboat 90 (Stridsbåt 90N) modifications, from wikipedia. Some of these have since been adopted by Sweden, once they saw how good it became: - interior main space roof raised to 2m height - anchor mounted at the back instead of front - only one top turret (M2) - no bow guns - six of the boats were upgraded in 2015 with Sea Protector remote turret instead of M2 Apart from that, The current material in use by the Norwegian Army is listed here: https://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liste_over_Hærens_utrustning Air Force: Bell 412SP NH90 NFH Sea King SAR (being phased out) AW101 SAR (replacing Sea King) P-3 Orion (being phased out) DA-20 (being phased out) P-8 Poseidon (replacing P-3 and DA-20) F-16 A/B F-35 A/B Navy: https://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sjøforsvaret#Fartøyer NORSOF: Weapons: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forsvarets_Spesialkommando#Weapons Vehicles: Geländewagen/MB270 "Multi" variant Supacat HMT Extenda Boats: Goldfish variants: Not a complete list, I can find better/more photos and way more info later if you want.

Awesome yet again Vasilyevich! A few points/suggestions, thinking out loud again: 1. Vehicles (They look AWESOME) - Great work on the camo, I really miss the true Norwegian vehicle camo. In recent years it has gone out of fashion and been substituted for the OD green as is shown in the photos in the post before this. Likely an economic and practical choice by the MoD since OD green blends in better in a range of environments than does the old camo. But don't take it away whatever you do - or at the very least include a version of each (camo and OD green) for variation! There are still plenty of the old Geländewagons in the old camo scheme driving around the place (most recently used in Afghanistan): http://www.feltvogn.no/styled-3/index.html 2. The uniforms look FANTASTIC 3. The berets - Make the green a little darker. The colour you have gone for is the old "Olive Green" which has been replaced with "Canadian Green" as of a few years ago. The old berets looked like this: https://pics.qxlstatic.no/20_804398270_Big/militaereffekter/beret-haeren.jpg (note lighter green and gold sign) The new berets look like this: http://www.fofo.no/filestore/Kari-Flommajor.jpg (note darker green and silver sign) - Please change the sign on the beret to the correct one for the army, which is this one: https://pics.qxlstatic.no/20_805701096_Big/militaereffekter/kong-harald-5-beret-merke.jpg The one you have used is the unit insignia (arm patch) for the Telemark Batallion, and has never been a beret sign in any branch of the army. 4. The Helmets - The helmets you have included this time are the correct ones, contrary to what other posters on this forum are saying. The Norwegian Army adopted the OPS-Core FAST helmets a couple of years ago, and these are the ones seen in ArmA3. Great work! 4. MJK and FSK (Love the variations and the new uniform tops - top notch work!) - Great idea with the random insignias, however I have to add one thing: The "Viking" patch is not an armpatch in real life. It is only worn by FSK operators (never MJK), and only on the front right top pocket, like here (soldier on the left): http://gfx.dagbladet.no/labrador/215/215331/21533120/jpg/active/978x.jpg and here: http://www.krigskorset.no/pics/utdeling8511/DSC_0512.JPG So if you change this at all, please remove that particular patch from the MJK soldiers and just keep it as an armpatch "for fun" (since it does look pretty cool). 5. More armpatches - May I suggest you add more armpatches for use with the regular soldiers as well. These would be ONLY for the regular soldiers, as none of these are SOF units. Telemark Batallion (woodland/snow): http://home.online.no/~hyttervi/homepage_patches/images/norway/army/bn/tmbn/tmbn_s_2011.jpg Telemark Batallion (desert): http://home.online.no/~hyttervi/homepage_patches/images/norway/army/bn/tmbn/tmbn_d_2011.jpg 2. Batallion (wood/snow): http://home.online.no/~hyttervi/homepage_patches/images/norway/army/bn/bn2/2bn_sep2011_s.jpg 2. Batallion (desert): http://home.online.no/~hyttervi/homepage_patches/images/norway/army/bn/bn2/2bn_sep2011_d.jpg Armoured Batallion (wood/snow): http://home.online.no/~hyttervi/homepage_patches/images/norway/army/bn/pbn/pbn_2011s.jpg Armoured Batallion (desert): http://home.online.no/~hyttervi/homepage_patches/images/norway/army/bn/pbn/pbn_2011d.jpg More can be found here under Norway -> Army -> Batallions, Official and Unofficial (please note the MAJORITY of patches in there are NOT official ones, so if you are unsure just ask!) - Also, all the above batallions (and more batallions in real life) are all part of Brigade NORTH and thus wear the Brigade NORTH patch (http://home.online.no/~hyttervi/homepage_patches/images/norway/army/after06/brign_2011s.jpg and http://home.online.no/~hyttervi/homepage_patches/images/norway/army/after06/brig_n_d_p.jpg) on the left arm, and their batallion patch on their right arm, like this: http://gfx.dagbladet.no/labrador/215/215343/21534333/jpg/active/729x.jpg Again, great work! All my suggestions here are simply in the spirit of realism!

Corrected. Also here for good measure: http://www.vg.no/bildespesial/11774/ Thanks! ---------- Post added at 16:44 ---------- Previous post was at 16:36 ---------- Sweet! Love the idea of making our own if we want! May i suggest you make the middle flag slightly green? Like this: http://www.milrab.no/Norsk-Flagg-Green-%285x7cm%29-Velcro-MILRAB/cat-p/c/p10501604 (doesnt look terribly green there, but it has a slightly green hue in real life, not straight grey). Also I like the lower three insignias - the "wing" of the FSK operators, Odin and his two ravens. Viking power! This symbol serves the same purpose as the MJK wing you used in the last update - it is given only to newly graduated FSK operators and worn centred on the left chest pocket. So to anyone interested, the winged dagger is the FSK unit patch, while Odin is the wing of the operators (in real life in the link below, 6th picture row from the top). Incidentally, the conscripted fallskjermjegers ("para rangers") of FSK are given the wing below that on the same page. Then for MJK, the dragon (based off the galleon figure on the Oseberg viking ship) with wings and fins is the unit patch, while operators are given the "wing" (also visible in the below link, below the first row of MJK patches). http://home.online.no/~hyttervi/homepage_patches/Patches/norway/army/after06/hjk.htm (Many of those other patches are unofficial "fun" patches and old ones no longer in use). The "wings" in this context are signs of being a qualified operator (same as the US Navy SEAL Trident), and are worn in addition to parachute jump, diver and EOD wings etc. The green/black unit patches are used on woodland and multicam uniforms (as per the photoshoot I was talking about earlier). The desert ones I haven't seen in a while in the media, and the black on white ones are used on dress uniform like here on our highest decorated officer: https://fbexternal-a.akamaihd.net/safe_image.php?d=AQDQkXE1cOjBENU5&w=470&h=246&url=http%3A%2F%2Fap.mnocdn.no%2Fincoming%2Farticle7559396.ece%2FALTERNATES%2Fw1024c169%2Fafp000712313-OtSs0h0Qc0.jpg%3Fupdated%3D070520141811&cfs=1&upscale Also another idea I just had, if you are including MJK and FSK units with berets (I think you should include one plain soldier of each if its feasible - nice props for missions!). When the naval commandos and naval divers split into two units in the 1950/60's, they each adopted their own flashes - green for the operators of MJK (who also operate alot on land=green) and blue for the naval clearance divers (MDK, who do most of their work in the water=blue). The following is a photo of the MJK beret in navy blue with the green flash: https://www.google.no/search?q=marinejeger&safe=off&client=firefox-a&hs=Gy4&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&channel=sb&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=z2H_U7O9F-Hg4QS5zoGwCg&ved=0CAgQ_AUoAQ&biw=1366&bih=609#facrc=_&imgdii=_&imgrc=75XxLO68GgDrBM%253A%3BzGg7SbbPAd5BMM%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fimg691.imageshack.us%252Fimg691%252F2815%252F114di.jpg%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fmilforum.net%252Farchive%252Findex.php%252Ft-53566.html%3B800%3B600 (If that doesnt work either scroll down until you see it or here's the rather embarrassingly moulded beret of a past MJK commander: http://g.api.no/obscura/API/image/r1/escenic/478x1000r/1248883737/archive/02731/pirater-adenbukta-_2731358a.jpg) And finally, a slightly different green jump suit worn by MJK operators: http://fofo.no/Skipsjakten.b7C_xdbI1n.ips (last photo) Just an idea. Another long-winded and messy post, sorry!

Awesome as usual! If you want any ideas, here are some recent photos of MJK, FSK (both in multicam) and also the police anti-terror unit Delta (in black). Theres a good shot of a MJK insignia/patch on the 7th from last photo, and a good photo of a "green colours" Norwegian flag in the last photo. Particularly the latter I think is a good idea, since the good old red, white and blue stands out quite a lot in the field. http://www.vg.no/bildespesial/11774/ Another option for that is to darken the colours a little, like in this patch: http://www.milrab.no/DataImage.ashx/10506737/150/150 (versus this one which is in full colours: http://www.milrab.no/DataImage.ashx/10506735/150/150) Again, just suggestions - Keep up the good work!

Looks awesome! All i was saying above was talking about the different uniforms we have, wasnt expecting you to make them all! Those photos look great! With regard the insignias (IF you wanted to try and remove them from SOF) - you could just make the insignia texture file empty and transparent (i think? This worked in OFP/Arma/ArmaII anyways). Just a thought I had now. That hand-drawn MJK insignia looks fantastic and way better suits your blue uniforms. The green one i posted is more woodland. Also another bit of info on equipment - The entire army was issued new OPS Core helmets last year. I'm not sure if this is doable with your addon (in OFP it would have to be remodeled, but i believe you can choose gear in Arma3?) http://farm8.static.flickr.com/7384/10083800004_6d0f30f62c_m.jpg And http://abload.de/img/horda01slyb6.jpg This article has good photos on the differences in the 'old' infantry (not many years ago) and todays 'new' infantry http://m.klikk.no/produkthjemmesider/vimenn/reportasje/article827711.ece (just if you are interested). Again man, looking great, I'm basically just thinking out loud here so feel free to ignore me!:) I might have to invest in a new laptop and Arma3 to play around with these bad boys!

Great stuff! If I may add some info on uniforms, I'll stop hassling you! - M98 has been phased out of service with most regular army units (parts of the Home Guard use it, and it is often used for new recruits during boot camp). The old M98 had ranks displayed on the shoulders, like so http://www.aftenposten.no/migration_catalog/article5441802.ece/BINARY/w380/F-Br%C3%B8dtekst-uniformR%C3%98DRING.jpg (that is incidentally the Telemark Batallion beret) - M04 is the new standard uniform. It has rank displayed on the chest, velcro patches on the sleeves, etc (intended as an improvement over the M98). The M04 can be seen here http://bloggfiler.no/grindenigarden.blogg.no/images/1242485-10-1346279810904.jpg - "Tropical" uniforms are also popular, one example can be seen to the left in this photo (Telermark BN). M04 is in the middle (Armoured BN), and Taiga jungle uniform (see below) to the right (FSK). They are lighter, slightly different colour-wise and treated with insect repellant. http://forsvaret.no/sites/media/PublishingImages/seremonien_fotoTrudeHansen-9_260412163238.jpg - FSK favour the Taiga jungle uniform (as above). Telemark Batallion also started wearing these as of this time last year. https://www.coldskills.com/linje-1-bekladnad/faltuniformer--varme/nor-kamouflage-c-386-1.aspx. It has sleeve pockets and a number of other handy features - mainly intended for jungle warfare but worn in garrison by both units. - MJK (and other navy "land-oriented" units) favour Arcteryx gear, often in combination with multicam http://s602.photobucket.com/user/vor033/media/Norway/17_zps7c3fd2e6.jpg.html (guy on the right wearing Arcteryx jacket) and http://forsvaret.no/sites/artikkelbilder/PublishingImages/_w/20130612__PEDERTORPMATHISEN_0322_jpg.jpg (with visible MJK insignia) In Somalia, they wore khaki uniforms http://forsvaret.no/sites/media/PublishingImages/Karriere%20som%20marinejeger_02.JPG. The MJK special boat operators also commonly wear green jumpsuits http://forsvaret.no/sites/artikkelbilder/PublishingImages/_w/tkR37122_jpg.jpg Now that's enough rambling, just to give you some ideas!

Hey Vasilyevich, great looking addon. Haven't had the pleasure of trying them out in-game yet, but they sure look good! A few suggestions, for realism: 1. The beret badge worn by the Norwegian army is slightly different from the one you are using. A picture of it can be found at the top right of page 5 in this document (army head dress regulation): http://web.medaljemontasje.com/Harenshodeplagg.pdf. - all the circles below it are different flashes worn behind the beret, depending on what branch of the army the soldier is in. - the beret colours of the Norwegian army can be found on the next page of that same document. For the purposes of your addon i think the beret you have chosen works well - dark green is the "generic" army beret and suits your addon nicely. Other good options would be emerald green (Telemark Batallion), Black (Armoured Batallion) or Sand (2nd Batallion). -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. MJK and FSK do not use their unit insignias in quite the same way as you have chosen for this addon. - firstly, the unit insignia for MJK is actually this: http://home.online.no/~hyttervi/homepage_patches/images/norway/Navy/mjk/mar_mjk.jpg The insignia you have used is the "wing" given to operators at MJK when they are declared operative (after initial training). This wing is only worn by operators and nobody else (like support staff, etc). So the correct insignia to use for MJK in this situation would be the one in the link. I realise this doesn't work as well with the blue uniforms, but that is the official MJK unit insignia. - FSK would usually use a "subdued" version of their patch when wearing a camo uniform, like this: http://home.online.no/~hyttervi/homepage_patches/images/norway/army/after06/hjk/fsk_hjk_2011_s.jpg. For your addon I think maybe the desert version works better with the multicam uniforms: http://home.online.no/~hyttervi/homepage_patches/images/norway/army/after06/hjk/fsk_hjk_2011_d.jpg But with all that said, the SOF never wear unit insignias when on operation (or certainly I haven't ever seen photos of them wearing them). They wear them sometimes for exercises and demonstrations. I think they look cool in your addon, and I think so does most people, so it's a dilemma between realism and coolness :) (another option is to remove the insignias for the SOF altogether and just keep one soldier with each uniform with insignias - or the other way around!) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Just my two cents/øre :) I love to see Norwegian stuff like this so I just thought I'd throw in some ideas! Excellent job, keep it up, and I look forward to seeing more Norwegian units for Arma 3! I was part of Norfor making addons for OFP/Arma/ArmaII and have loads of ideas for Norwegian stuff if you are interested!

    Norwegian Recce Pack

Gode greier dette, freddern! (Good stuff) Thanks for the credits. If you ever get around to making more stuff (trust me i know how time consuming it is:)), could I suggest winter soldiers and also the new IVECO vehicle? Never got around to making the IVECO in Flashpoint myself, but would love to see it in a BIS game with a Norwegian Flag:) Also, you might want to add aimpoints/ACOGs to the AG3's, as they are pretty common in intops. But all this is just minor detail - great addon nonetheless! PS: Excuse me if I'm wrong in anything I say - haven't got ArmA so can't test them ingame!

    Bronco ATTC

OK, I've had a word with Footmunch now, and I can use his script along with the BV-202 (turns out the Norwegian Army also uses/used this). More screenshots soon to come (now with Footmunch's already finished BV-202, only lacking camo textures, I might have some ingame screens next)

    Bronco ATTC

Will do, thanks for the info! Might also try my luck on borrowing the BV-202 - Norway uses/has used them aswell...

    Bronco ATTC

OK, mates, thanks for the answers and suggestions. Coyote Commander, Yes, it will be armed, most likely with an MG-3 - but I'll probably add an unarmed version too Hmm, the Falklands have a BV-206? Interesting...

    Bronco ATTC

Back again, this time with pictures before bedtime. Enjoy. (these are taken with all the stash - mirrors, lights, gun, etc. removed) Vehicle has been edited since - new texture on front roof, added and textured back roof, textured the rear of the vehicle. Also starting into the stuff inside it. Questions: 1. Does anyone know where I could get the textures that were originally on this? 2. Anyone have a trailer script?
  14. viking19

    Bronco ATTC

Excellent, mate! Â You just made my day (and into the Credits list! I'll be along with some pictures soon enough.. Maybe people could post what they'd like to see in this pack? So far: - Infantry (Canon fodder type) - Jegerkompaniet (Recce units) - Winter version of the above Planned: - BV-206 - Desert version of above units (Lebanon style) - Miscellaneous units (driver, officer, security etc.) - Saboteur/Special Forces If you propose an idea, please bear in mind that these units are intended for use in 1970 - early 1990 scenarios, i.e. no HK416 units, special forces with 2006 version equipment, you get the idea. I'm going for the simple style like FDF MOD. No CPU intensive units. PS: Could a moderator change the topic name to "Norwegian Soldiers Cold War Era"? I see now that "Bronco ATTC" doesn't really suit!

    Bronco ATTC

Hey I'm planning to finish Takano's great Bronco ATTC addon: Ofp.info new link The problem is I don't have the p3d model any longer - does anyone around here have it on their harddrives? The download link doesn't work any longer. I'm planning to release this addon with some Norwegian 1980s-1990s infantry for use in the OFP environment (without having to use modern OPFOR, but rather just the Russian Forces already in game). Since Norway doesn't use the "Bronco ATTC" but rather the Hägglunds BV-206, I'' release it under this name, since they are only different variations of basically the same vehicle. Hope to get my hands on that p3d so I can start! PS: This is not an Addon Request. I will be posting pictures and updates about the Norwegian infantry soon enough!
