lol to me, Atari's little box illustraion would fall somewhere under false advertisement... anyone want to file a lawsuit??? lol I j/k. Why can't someone who owns VBS2 take code from it and transfer it over to arma. I'm sure it wouln't be that hard considering they probably use the exact same parsing and such. Someone who was dumb enough to buy the training sim should look into the code and see if it can be used for ArmA mods/addons.

Anyone?

They messed up the ACOG sight now, lol check the lines, they are so thick you can't even see your target. good job Bohemia -
1.07 beta 8800 GTX texture bug
USM-75R.Hspd -XO- replied to shadowze's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I updated to the latest ATI Catalyst 7.4 and I am attempting to update DirectX to the latest version as well. I'm about to install Windows Vista, hopefully this will fix my problem. -
1.07 beta 8800 GTX texture bug
USM-75R.Hspd -XO- replied to shadowze's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Hey you 8800 guys aren't the only one having the problems. I just did a reformat, and now I have issues with seeing polygons, and after like 3 minutes of playing my game will just crash to the desktop. I'm getting sick and tired of this... seems everytime BIS gets their hands on the game they jack something else up. BIS ==> -
I searched but can't find an answer to my question... I've noticed something I don't think has been mentioned in the community bugtracker and I was either wanting to add it myself or have someone else do so. The tanks turret depression is simulated realistically 12 degree hull down, however if you raise your barrel up as high as possible in game it is almost vertical. That is completely unrealistic. I think it should be addressed. You can hardly fly a chopper into battle as it is without some tank whore shootin vertically at you. So please can someone either tell me how I can register for bugtracker or post it there themselves? Thanks in advance. Edit: found the topic on how to register with BTS.

i think what you talk about is not only about ballistic now, but also how your rifle is zeroed No. Weapons zeroing is so you can get a proper sight picture and so that your eyes aren't fooled sorta speak. The way I described the aiming vs the targets also has nothing to do with wind... if the bullets were properly simulated this would be the case. Here is my proof. Here are adjustments for wind. I'm done arguing over this now... I just feel its safe to say that the bullet trajectory is NOT properly simulated, if it were then the rifling wave would be simulated.
-
cause they are lazy... they get their money no matter what... they hardly care.
-
all I know is this... when training on the rifle in real time, we were told that the round travels, in a wave sort of motion, very slight but still a wave. The bullet drops and raises, but each time it raises it is just a little lower than the prior. When striking at a 50m IRL you aim center of mass on the target, at 100m you aim a little lower, 150m is when you start heading back up for the center of mass aiming just a little up from where you did the 100m target. at 200 meters you are a little higher, 250m you are just under center of mass, and then finally at 300 you are center of mass of the target. Beyond 300 your round starts to loose its momentum and thus you have to aim a bit higher than usual. I only qualified to 300m but I'm guessing a marine qualifying at 500 would agree with me.
-
lol take an M16 IRL, or even your kiddy bee bee gun and look down the sight. Aim at something about 300 meters out there, then zoom in It takes skill to fire the iron sights at long distance, and like majoris23 said, "Welcome to realism".
-
That makes absolutely no sense what you just said, but whatever... what they should do is fix it properly if they are going to fix it at all it will not require a whole new set of anims I can assure you.
-
THE JAVELIN IS STILL MESSED UP!!!!! Yes they did the model, yes on the optics, zoom and stuff, yes on the vertical hit... NO it doesn't hit the target AT ALL!!! and when you lay down with the javelin on your back it glitches into your face and you an't see anything but the javelin model's artifacts around your face.
-
Javelins are jacked up still... they did the modeling.. and optics good, but it still misses horridly and when you lay down with the javelin on your back it blocks your line of sight really bad.
-
Ok first of all, nice 203 sight, however, it isn't adjustable, which isn't all that bad, you can still use it... The worst thing I've discovered is that the 203 sight isn't collapsible. You are supposed to be able to raise and lower the M203 sight, instead when you switch to semi or burst you have to look through the 203 Ironsight and at your front sight post. Another thing... when are we going to be able to use the sight post on top of the M4 ACOG? that is infact for close range. I got slight performance increase with an X800XL everything seems a bit better. Am overwhelmed that the javelin works... there won't be much tank whores now that its back in action. I recommend fixing these 8800 errors cause a lot of people have those cards.

Someone did reply via PM in regards to simulation laws, heh and it actually made perfect sense. I guess they don't want to make it so much of a simulation that the developers would be basically putting you through military training material virtually. So basically what I'm gathering is that there will most likely never be a game that sports everything to the point mathematically accurate due to the rules of simulation in games. By the way... when I say mathematically accurate, I'm thinking of... what I know as a prior service member with bullet travel, aimpoints and stuff like that... I will admit it would be alot to take into count mathematically speaking of course. First of all the bullet is spinning when it leaves the barrel due to the rifling, then you have the gravity function, speed of the round, weight of the weapon, weight of the bullet lol. I'm asking too much I know, I just want REALISM to the max.
-
Computer programmers... I am a novice by far, however I do know that it takes a great deal of mathematical knowledge to program, especially a game like ArmA. Now I don't know the exact figures right off the top of my head, but I know that they are out there. And generally wouldn't IMO be to hard to implement into a game. By the way I'm talking about bullet drop, gravity pull, maybe even random windage. I think it would be godly if the bullets were simulated correctly. Why can't/hasn't this been done ever? I served in the military, I shot 34/40 with my weapon and I know the sight pictures and referenced aim points rather well for your standard M16 Iron sight at ranges up to 300M. Seems to me in ArmA if you can aim center mast, you're set. WHY? lol make them work for their shot BIS... NO FLAMING just post your opinions.

Tips for firing the M136 AT-4 in ArmA
USM-75R.Hspd -XO- replied to frederf's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
Something else I'd like to add. Since you all are on the topic of realism. Yes the rockets need to be faster, IRL they travel at supersonic speed. Produce a supersonic back blast with a supersonic sound. lol The back blast area is a 90 degree fan 100M to the rear anything within that fan stands a chance at becoming slightly well done. Also those AT4's let me tell you, they have one hell of a boom that can knock you on your ass if you aren't prepared, hence there should be a slight bit more recoil. -
Tips for firing the M136 AT-4 in ArmA
USM-75R.Hspd -XO- replied to frederf's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
Generally IRL there is no early warning systems that I've ever heard of to let you know of a shoulder fired rocket coming your direction. Now the M-47 DRAGON Anti-Tank Guided Missile (used in BF2) that can produce a warning system cause it is radar guided. An early warning system for your standard inbound rocket would generally most likely become somewhat as effective as a car alarm in the sense that it would pick up any traveling rocket. Anyway... what are you going to do anyway? run? I mean shit if a rocket is fired at you... you have only a second to exit the vehicle and run away... not possible. -
Have ran RTS4 before on our server, and persistent battlefield works fine, have had no problems at all to report. Do you use ArmAtech? I've found its a rather useful tool. Get it from armatech.com I believe if you haven't already.

RTS4 up on our server as well now called THE USM KILLZONE lately have had it on that map but no one seems to drop in. Server is great, good ping 10-40 ping for most of the US gamers jump on in check out Karrilion's kick ass missions.

As far as helping you... sure maybe people would join up with ya, and this would be the place to put yer stuff, however as far as other clans helping you out, depends on what you mean. Pretty much its a "fend for yourself" type of scenario. If you need a dedicated teamspeak server drop by ts.usmsquad.com:8767 and we may work something out with you for a cheap price.

WOAH, thats a big step there mayne, sure you don't want to try something a lil easier... say... JO or BF2 for a while? to arma

I'll have the game tomorrow so it seems a waste to ask... but... Screenshots
