    Arma under Linux

I am in a long process migrating to Linux, games and some drivers holding me back a bit. I cannot refer to where I got it, but OFP and ArmA have been tested on both Wine and Cedega. But there was no info how they did it and how they managed to not get conflicts with Securom7/Starforce4 and probably Fade. About Linux and Windows performance. My opinion is Linux runs games faster cause, it is a multitasking operating system. When disk access occurs, other processes are not waiting for it to finish or give right of way. I have never experienced my radio pause playing on Linux when starting a game. Not to say the same about Windows. Also swap file usage is not overused. Thats why it is faster. I just wonder, how the DX transition to OpenGL is not slowing it much more down.

Bring back driving and cursor as in OFP

As I remember, in OFP, when you start using one device to control your vehicle, others (if not touched) are not controlling anything. Now in ArmA, you have all devices active at the same time. Not good, because if I havent zeroed my joystick throttle, I cannot full control with keyboard and mouse. Also I can use full throttle on my joystick and press SHIFT on keyboard - every vehicle goes faster, you can hear it too. So I dont have freedom of choice - there is only one best way of doing it. Hope this gets done in 1.03.

    Elevators?

To johnwilso007 If you are talking about lifts, then real lifts have at least 2 safety mechanisms. If the cables get cut, it just gets stuck in the trunk. Falling lifts are only in Hooliowood. Real ones are quite safe.

    Islands complexity

Isn't OFP allready using some kind of Geometry Instancing? Of course software way. All bushes are just copies of other bushes. And forests, houses. Of course hardware way would be faster. But I dont see exactly how it would be dramatically faster? Or is OFP having a lot of same type objects in memory at same time and only using same models for not wasting HDD space, but not RAM?
  5. Could be nice of being able to play more realistic with the radar responder system onboard. Not only the red-green-yellow-white radar scheme. If you dont know what it is, see: http://www.globalsecurity.org/militar....iff.htm For example in missions where a code and aircraft is stolen and a whole bunch of enemies comes out right in the middle of the base.
