    Full opf:r walkthrough

My faq for OpF:R is up at http://www.gamefaqs.com/computer/doswin/game/16901.html for those looking for a walkthrough. If you spot any mistakes please tell me and I'll fix it in the next update. Thanks!

    Resistance final cutscene

SPOILERS BELOW!: I believe that there are two "final" cutscenes for OpF:R - one where Victor blows up the planes and one where the planes take off and blow up Nogova. I've never been able to get the planes to take off however. If someone can tell me how (or at what time they take off) I'd appreciate it.

    Quick handgun questions

I've almost finished writing an OpF:R faq but have just realised I left some information at home. If someone could please answer the following questions I'd greatly appreciate it. 1) What is the magazine capacity of the Beretta 92F? 2) What is the magazine capacity of the Glock-17? 3) Does the Glock-17 have a burst-fire or full auto fire mode (along with it's single fire)? Thanks!

Thanks a lot for that. I've added the information into the faq - when I post it up you can tell me what I've missed! :-)

I've checked the Avon Lady's site for the walkthrough and currently the link is still broken. Could just be me, but I've emailed her about it.

    Hostage mission help

The patrols around the hostages have an RPG soldier with them. Scavenge off them. From memory, I attacked the base from the west - lots of cover and you end up mowing down the enemy as they run from building to building for cover. As for the two BMPs and T72 - I ordered my guys into the Urals (don't forget the Ural Ammo) and ran away from them to the evac site. I suppose you could hang around to destroy them, but I kept losing too many men in attempting it so I gave up. The mission should finish when you've met all the objectives (ie kill every last soldier at the second camp) and your entire squad is about 200m from the evac point. As for that bug - I noticed that not all my guys fired if I kept them in formation (didn't know why but didn't think about it; stupid me), but when I told them to engage at will they seemed to handle themselves okay. Although that could just be my imagination...

    Ofp: resistance- 4 months later

OpF:R is a solid hit for me. It added in enough stuff to make it worthwhile for me to buy it and added a nice backstory to the OpF world. Plus some of the features (handguns, dropping items) were a really great addition to the game. My cons is having to drop my visual quality in order to play the game without choppiness / crashing. I now find it very hard to shoot guys over 300m away using a normal sight, whereas in v1.4 (with better resolution) it was hard but not impossible. I know I have to upgrade my machine, but I don't like it when a game rubs it in!

Tell us about your political attitude

Australia has two main political parties - the Liberals (centre right) and Labor (centre left). The Coalition (made up of the Liberals and the National Party, who don't seem to get much attention outside of elections) is very socially conservative. Other posts have already listed the attitudes of this Government to immigrants and welfare recipients - pretty poor. There's also been a quiet campaign of censorship that has been initiated by the Government. Thank god they do this or I may have to think for myself! :-] I don't mind the GST - Australia needed a consumption tax. What wasn't done was an adequate reform of the tax system to accompany the GST's introduction. That's what has left a number of people screwed around. Sadly, there is no real competition in the Australian political scene. Labor is pretty ineffectual while the Democrats (a left-wing protest party) is currently fighting itself. The Greens hold some power, but they will never get high enough to make large changes. With any luck the Prime Minister John Howard will step down (although they may have to pry the position from his cold dead fingers) and someone else will step in... who will most likely be Peter Costello (personality of dead fish but semi-effective as Treasurer). Oh well...

    Handguns

I've done a couple of searches and came up with nothing, so I don't think this question has been asked before: What are your opinions on the handguns included in Resistance? I've read the complaints about their accuracy, but I haven't found any discussion about their effectiveness or a comparison of their attributes. Personally I've found the Sa61 Scorpion to be the best handgun available, but I really haven't used them much since rifles are so much more effective. Where handguns a useful addition to OpF?

    Handguns

I think that isn't a bad idea, but doesn't that move OpF away from being a squad-based military game? I've really never seen the ai use houses effectively - squad members seem much happier on open ground. When it comes out I'll be looking to get SWAT: Urban Justice to fill my CQC needs. Anyway, back on topic, what are people's preferred handguns?

Operation flashpoint: game of the year edition

I don't know - I was playing a mission or two of RH last night under v1.75 and found that some of the bugs that had irritated me have been ironed out. In some cases fixing the engine bugs obviously fixed the mission bugs.

    Careers

I'll add to Ralph Wiggum's suggestion of choosing courses: Choose things that are going to make you think. A whole heap of guys I went to school with ended up as accountants because it was easy to do at uni and gave them plenty of drinking time. I did other commerce majors (Marketing and Information Management) which while not a huge strain on the brain all the time, developed some interesting skills and made me think about the world in different ways. Going into the military or police is fine if you know what you are getting yourself into. Speak to a couple of current / ex-members of these groups and see if you like what they say. My brother was all set to go into the police force until he heard about the amount of paperwork they had to do for every little thing that happened. If you want to know about the military, well, the OpF boards probably aren't a bad place to start. To answer your question: while I wouldn't mind changing a few things I did, I wouldn't alter the courses I did at uni.

The right to keep and bear arms?

If you can point out a person to me as a criminal or a law-abiding citizen when just walking down the street you are a greater person than I. The distinction of "criminal" and "law-abiding" is used as an absolute, when it is almost never the case. The difference is often just a single point in time or a bad choice. The "evil" deliberate criminal is a rare thing. How many US citizens die from gunshot wounds inflicted in the home? They can be as sane and law-abiding as they want, but having a gun automatically increases the risk in a household. Uncle Larry gets mean drunk at Thanksgiving, little Joey goes into Daddy's things looking for something to play with, Mike comes home drunk from a frat party and decides to sneak through the back window; all of these cases can lead to accidental deaths through shooting almost directly because guns are so accessable in the US. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter how many people die due to accidental shooting or how high / low the crime rate gets, the US will always want guns because it has a gun culture. A real American is one who has a gun. You have to arm yourself because everyone else is. Criminals have guns so you need one to protect yourself. This cycle repeats endlessly and will continue to do so until the gun culture is changed.

    Hatred of ofp

I didn't mind Red Hammer at all. Since I'm not anti-CM, I didn't mind what they had done with some of the missions. The missions were generally longer and harder than CWC, but I put that down to a rogue General pushing his troops to do more when compared to the strategic US CWC missions. The voice acting was pretty bad though.

    Rescue sergei

I've written an faq for Red Hammer available at Gamefaqs: http://www.gamefaqs.com/computer/doswin/game/31534.html It's in the wrong place, despite me asking them to shift it. Anyway, from it: Race Against Time ----------------- The rule of this mission is to keep moving. Make yourself commander of the T80 and tell your other guys to get in. Use tactical view to drive (delete key on keypad). Switch to HEAT rounds. Start to move down the road and take out the BMP and the infantry squad. Continue moving down this road toward the base on the map, but aim to go around the east side of the base (between the sea and the base). There is a Shilka and a RPG soldier to watch out for and a BMP behind the base. Fire at them to take them out, but keep moving down the road. If a Hind appears, target it with your machine gun and you can shoot it down (eventually). When you get to about Ge47, take a shortcut up the hill through Gd46 (the gap in the forest). This way you save time and miss the jeep roadblock. Take out the two BMPs as you move towards the waypoint. Once you get to the base, you will hit a retry point. Drive slowly through the base, taking out the two Spetznatz in front of the captive's tent and watch out for the RPG soldier behind them. You may be getting attacked by a Hind during all of this, so you want to send your driver to become a gunner for the Shilka. When you get close enough, you will hear "Four, follow One!". When this happens and he pops up on your squad bar, action him to get a weapon. Turn around and watch the entrance to the base - there may still be soldiers lurking. Depending on how badly you are damaged, it is up to you to choose your escape vehicles. I favour sending squad members two and three to the Shilka and telling Four to be your gunner, then switching to driver. Get everyone back into formation, then drive up through Gb40 to the top road and down to about Ef58 before heading to extraction. I found a BMP or two in front of the base shown on the map and a Hind attacked as well. I kept the T80 moving, the Shilka took out the Hind and the trip back wasn't too hard. An alternate method is to get into the jeep, drive along the top road and then ditch into the forest when the Hind starts attacking. You can use the forest for cover and the Hind appears to only fire on vehicles. It just takes longer to run back.
