I'm bumping this up because Marss911 doesn't seem to have seen it and I have sent him a private message offering sound effects help, which he also hasn't answered, yet. (Unless his reply got sent to that other profile that I.E. somehow defaulted to...)

Why can't you make it with the bomb bay doors open? That's not such a big deal, especially when you're only 6 miles from the most distant target, anyway.

Wasn't that why Baghdad was putting up the fireworks show? They couldn't lock onto anything? And the F117's relative absence of jet thrust illumination is a moot point because jet engines don't flame in OFP, yet (a hopeful word).

I'm working on packaging up a bunch of Cold War-era addons into one big .zip that I will upload to FilePlanet (assuming they allow large uploads). Any Cold War-era addons that you especially want to see in version 1?

The Black Things are Fuel Blivets
-
Yeah? Are you? You wouldn't happen to work for Nokia, would you?
-
Well, one thing that needs to happen is to have a script where holes get shot in the fuel cells of a vehicle as it takes projectile damage (provided it doesn't take so much that it blows up or starts flaming)... then fuel consumption could take place at a much quicker pace. And for wheeled vehicles, it seems like if you have 75% damage, you're not going anywhere, anyway, because you can't drive on flat tires. I'd like to make a script for helos where you start to lose ammo and fuel as you take damage and where it can start flaming at one point, causing progressive damage, like in IL-2 Sturmovik. I'd also like to see the engine go out totally (by fuel=zero), shot out by enemy fire, so that you can start to fall out of the air. At another point, you could have rotor damage, causing a loss in altitude that is difficult to fight by up'ing your collective.

Who is the chick in your signature graphic, Placebo?

Read the link I posted, Goeth.

No joy, mate. Access Forbidden.

Yeah, you know, WW3 never happened, so no, she probably doesn't see combat.

I don't want "drums". I want fuel blivets. Why? Because fuel blivets are what was used during the Cold War for FARPs in the U.S. Army. If I wanted something that didn't fit, I'd opt for a refueling UFO.
-
Page 5 Has Pics of 500-gallon Fuel Blivets (.pdf) They are black rubber-looking bladders with sling connections on the ends. I don't remember where the fuel comes out of, but that doesn't really matter in OFP, anyway. I may have a picture or two of my own. Under stress they would probably make a big fire. hehe A Model for Sale

The 1.85 patch will enable flyInHeight for planes, too, so you should be able to get them to fly lower real soon.

Is this the same truck called the "Deuce and a Half" (meaning, "2 1/2"). It looks like it, but the front end seems rather imposing for a Deuce'n'Half. Also, where is the exhaust pipe on this babe? It's looking good... As I recall, a Deuce'n'Half had a whistling exhaust pipe that made a wharbling bird sound, like a whistle blown through a pipe with a little bit of water in it. The pitch of the whistle would get higher as the engine revved higher. I'll see if I can record a sound bite from a movie on DVD... uziyahu AT yahoo DOT com to remind me.

Well, I think it was on opflash.org that the description for Kegetys Editor Update (for Resistance) says that it is to be used in conjunction with Gunslingers... Lemme find it... Object Addons at OpFlash.org First "no picture" paragraph as you scroll down. How much RAM do you have, Cassandra?

Hmm, okay. Thanks for the tip, but I haven't noticed any problems having them that way. *shrugs*

Relax, Placebo. I only said that so you'd know that I wasn't breaking another rule by criticizing how you run this place.

Probably because they couldn't get their hands on appropriate Spetznaz uniforms for that time period. How many people could say, "That's not what Spetznaz wear!"?

I don't think you have to copy anything... In your Operation Flashpoint folder, create a new folder called "vietnam" (no quotes). In your vietnam folder create another folder called "Addons" Simply put your Vietnam addons in that. Now, create a desktop shortcut (I simply make a copy of my Resistance desktop shortcut), right click on it, after you've changed the shortcut name to "Vietnam Flashpoint". Select "properties". In the Target box, add "-nosplash -mod=vietnam" (no quotes) AFTER ...Resistance.exe" I have done the same for ww2, coldwar, modern Note that any addons that you have in your OFP/Addons or OFP/Res/Addons folders will probably show up when you start one of your mod Shortcuts, so you need to leave the default addons, there, but move each user-made addon to its appropriate folder, making copies where addons overlap time-periods (for example, M16A1 user-made addon should be in both vietnam and coldwar folders, while guerilla fighters in the Phillipines or Israeli soldiers might warrant you copying m16a1.pbo to your modern folder, also, if you want to make missions in the Filipines or Israel). It works great!

I'd take an M16 only because I've been trained on it; otherwise, I'd take an AK over an M16, any day. I'd take a Galil over them both.

The Galil was standard carry for Israel in the early 80's, and I don't remember Israel having any M16A2's in 1985 when the United States Marine Corps and Army started getting them. This means that, at best, the IDF had M16A1's to supplement their supply of Galil's and Israeli FN-FAL's in 1985. And really, this is the way I remember it, back in '85. For about a decade the Galil was considered the best assault rifle in the world. See the movie "Renaissance Man" and behold the reputation that the Galil had even in the United States Army. It was a mating of the AK and the M16, just as the Valmet was (another assault rifle considered top-of-the-line). The Enfield Bullpup and the FAMAS both existed around the same time, but the Enfield had problems and the FAMAS didn't get much circulation. The Galil was also popular with mercenaries, and with good reason. The M4 wasn't out in 1985. --Uziyahu_IDF
