Don´t worry. The AT4 is not a rocket anyway, nor is it rocket assisted. It fires the same way as a rifle bullet, but is fin stabilized. Great units by the way. Really like them.
  2. @sarge4267: If you want to create a realistic muzzle flash, don´t make one at all, or make it so bright that you can only see it in darkness. You can´t see the muzzle flash in daylight in a modern assault rifle. In darkness, the muzzle flash appears like a quick burst of sparks from most rifles.

    Swedish Army Mod

But ACOG´s ARE used on the NLAW mate. If you have a look at pictures of the thing on the Swedish armed forces´ website, you will see that they are indeed equipped with ACOG´s, just not for small arms. Yes, the magnification module will be issued for small arms weapons eventually. Does THAT make sense?

Ergo, if they´re not issued, then they are not being used. They won´t replace the old scopes for the AK4 as those scopes are going to be re-issued with modified clamps so they fit onto the rail on the reciever.

ACOG is used for the NLAW/RB57 (ATGM), but not for small arms. And the aimpoint sights have no magnification.

    British 3 Para

Bunnyman: Soldiers wearing berets may do so if the threat analysis permits it and if the patrol is a social patrol, but only if the threat analysis and intelligence permits it even during social patrols. Do you really want to play a mission in ArmA2 where you do nothing more than a social patrol? I dare to guess: no. Correct? Why would you want to wear a beret (other than the coolness factor) when it offers you no ballistic protection? Further more, they offer no shade from the sun, they are warmer (they´re made from wool, you know) than for instance, boonie hats, and the latter also offer shade from the sun and don´t look as aggressive as helmets during, for instance, a social patrol. Berets are great when you´re at the barracks and displays, not in the field where they are of no use.

    CSM Betav2 Released!!

European version. 1.14. Published by 505. Everything works except the M-16A4 ACOG-sound. Other than that, this is the best sound mod ever. I´m an FN MAG-enthusiast (as you can see in my avatar), and the M240 sound is almost erotic.

    RPG to rifle changes

The AT-4 takes a few seconds to get ready to fire, so the game is actually quite generous because you need to pull the transport safety pin, flip up the rear and front sight, front grip, shoulder rest, cock the mechanism and depress the safety before you can shoot. But it should be automatically dropped in game since it is a one-shot weapon and cannot be reloaded. But I was taught to carry it across my back with the front end by your right shoulder with front grip unfolded and transport safety pin pulled (if you expect contact with hard targets) to get your shot off faster. Just drop the rifle to hang across your chest and with your right hand grab the front grip and pull it into position on your shoulder... and so on.

    You are reservists.

    Ex-mil players?

Marine. Swedish Navy. Late 90s. Currently: Recce platoon. Swedish Home Guard. It is not possible to compare ArmA with real life soldiering as ArmA doesn´t simulate fatigue and the effects of supressive fire in its present state and it can´t simulate the physical pain from ill-fitting webbing and friction wounds on your feet, lower back and shoulders. But it is fun to play with a few good mates online if you try to make it as realistic as possible and don´t take it too seriously

    Spearhead

You need to change the Charlie G a bit. The bipod is supposed to be attached to the choulder rest, not the forward grip.

    1st Infantry Division

For the record, I hate the ACU-pattern. To quote the angry videogame nerd: "It´s a sh*t-load of f*ck" and ugly, and they stick out like a sore thumb in woodland. But these models look absolutly class, mate. Take your time to finish them. And if you should make a replacement-mod for the stock BIS-models, this will be the first and only one I´ll install.

    Rpg soldiers

@phawkins1988: Depends on the whereabouts of the personnel, mate. If inside a house, an increase of air pressure inside the room and secondary shrapnel from walls/radiators, etc will definetly wound or kill. If inside a confined space, like an APC, etc... well, it will flash burn you. The round itself produces shrapnel from the body of the round and its rather large fins, and let´s not forget the concussion blast. So it can be effective against personnel too. The hypersonic jet of molten copper is not the only advantage of HEAT-rounds.

    Rpg soldiers

There are AT-weapons that are comparable with the RPG-7 that can be used for - and fired directly at people, like our (Sweden) Carl Gustav. Here, we have a high explosive anti personell round for that purpose and can be set to airburst over an entrenched enemy. If you want to, you can fire it directly into a crowd of people if set to that distance and have it detonate in the center. It contains thousands of steel pellets that does the job. It also has a flachette round that is even worse. The RPG produces shrapnel too. Not from steel pellets, but the shell of the grenade itself when it detonates. So it does not suprise me that the AI fires their RPG´s at you. It is effective, isn´t it? In many cases, it doesn´t matter what the Geneva Convention says, like for instance, the .50 BMG round that is fired from the M2 or the M82A1 SASR-rifle is not really allowed to be fired directly at people, but they are anyway, right? Weapons that produce shrapnel are allowed in war because they are not Nuclear, Biological or Chemical weapons, unless they wound or kill indiscriminatly (when innocent civillians get in the way)

    Sharper recoils

Believe me, if the rate of fire on the m240 was 500, you´d get one round down range and then have a stoppage. The ROF in ArmA is closer to 750-800 rpm. I see myself as quite proficient with the FN MAG (9 years of experience) and have experienced stoppages due to low gas pressure many times, and trust me, the rpm in ArmA ain´t that low by a long shot
  17. Tigerhund

    Sharper recoils

I think the MG-recoil in the prone position is pretty much dead on. The difference is that in real life, the smoke from the muzzle obscures your vision and you´ll lose sight of your target quickly. Like stated earlier, the recoil is absorbed by the shooter´s body and shakes your head around more than actually having the muzzle rise. @Q1184: When firing the FN MAG (M240) from an unsupported position (from the hip with the sling around your neck) you hold your left arm on top of the sling and your hand around the carrying handle (as it is done in the Swedish military) to hold it down. Since the weapon is rather heavy, the muzzle doesn´t rise very much but you will feel the recoil pushing you backwards, but losing your balance can be prevented by leaning forward and into the weapon. I´ve never tried to shoot it un-supported from the shoulder as there´s no way to hold it without getting a handfull of hot brass (the ejection port is underneeth the reciever). I hope this information will help you out a bit.

And to conclude what Vinci said, a pbo would be nice for us who are inept at editing and all that stuff. You lose a lot of "clients" this way.

    ArmA Effects

And the third video shows the Hellfire SDS (Shore Defence System), which is usually fired at ships, as it has a different warhead (delayed detonation fragmentation warhead) so it can penetrate a ship´s hull before detonating. It is currently used by the Swedish and Norwegian amphibious forces. @mr.g-c: Im referring to the SDS-version, not the AGM-version. The SDS-version is a Bofors modification of the AGM114 Hellfire and carries a different warhead. The tank in the javelin-vid was most likely propped with gasoline to make a big fireball. An AT-missile commonly detonates on top of the tank where its shaped charge (the penetrator consists of molten copper) penetrates the armor and creates an increased pressure and heat inside the tank. This disables the crew and sometimes ignites the tank´s ammunition. This won´t make the tank blow up into a million pieces, but it will make fire spew out from under the turret and the turret might fly off.

    ArmA Effects

I´ve tossed a few live fragmentation grenades and one concussion grenade (produces no shrapnel but a powerful pressure increase in confined areas), and I have seen a few detonate. I never saw any large rocks flying around, but rather gravel and mud. I still fancy the effect a lot, and the smoke effect is spot on. That´s what it looks like IRL, but perhaps you could tone down the large rocks.
  22. I have a problem with custom faces. When I use cammoed faces that were installed as a pbo.file, they are really nice and dark, the way they should be, but when I use a jpg.file as a custom face, it is awfully bright in-game. A cammoed face, that in the jpg immage itself when viewed in windows looks great, but when in-game, the green fields in the face is lime green and what´s supposed to be black paint is instead shown as gray/green or even brown in-game. I want to use a custom face in game because it´s visible in multiplayer, while those installed as a pbo.file is not. I never had this problem in OFP. Any ideas on what to do?
  23. Tigerhund

    Custom faces too bright.

Yeah, It´s an ATI-card. So, therein lies the problem then.

    Player jumping

It´s sad to say, but I don´t like it. This isn´t a rant, so don´t take it that way. It would be more realistic if he actually climbs over it. It´s damn near impossible to jump that high in full combat order. (Helmet, body armor, ammunition, weapon/s, explosives, etc) Of course, it´s limited to the current animations untill the tools are out, but a climb-animation would be a lot more realistic. I like the idea of negotiating obstacles. Just not jumping over them. I tried jumping straight up, wearing full combat order, FN MAG (M240) and about 800 rounds of linked ammunition in my beltkit and I didn´t get very far. If I tried to jump over that pile of sandbags, I´d fall flat on my face.

    ArmA Effects

I have an idea for you. Could you use the muzzle blast from the Mk19 for the backblast effect on the AT-4, apart from looking into the "shockwave"-effects suggested earlier? And perhaps remove the smoke trails from said weapon as the AT-4 isn´t rocket propelled. And oh, before I forget; Great job, mate.
