Vietnam: The Experience
TC Roland Deschain replied to granQ's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Just installed the VTE mods. Had a quick game, and allthough its Alpha - release, it looks awesome!!! I have not installed the COC mod yet. Could you chaps give me more details about what its for, as I am a bit confused I am a big Vietnam fan, and a big Arma fan, so I am really chuffed about this addon. Thanks to all the chaps responsible for creating this! -
Hi mate here is a link to a great beginners mission-making tutorial by Rick Rawlings. http://x.cixx-online.com/x/776_amet.zip I learnt loads from it, and it covers the basics including what you are wanting to do, and a lot more. It has a step by step walkthrough to create a mission. Also another great help is a program called ArmA Edit by Chris Henderson. http://x.cixx-online.com/x/ARMAEDIT_SETUP_112.msi This creates Mission Briefings, custom units, custom ammo crates etc, and contains full help file on the program, and also the editor and basic scripting. Also another essential tool you will require is CPBO. http://x.cixx-online.com/x/cpbo.exe Double click on the .exe file to initialise it. Then, if you play a map you like, you can put it in your My Documents/ArmA Other Profiles/(USer Name)/Missions folder. Double click on it, and it will unpack, so you can see its contents and load it into the editor. When you have finished your own map, with a briefing and a .ext Description file, you just right-click on the folder and select "Create PBO" to pack everything up so it can be used on the servers or sent to people. With these 3 files, you should easily find everything you need to know. I hope it helps m8 Use CPBO to unpack my mission. Its nothing too fancy, but you will see how I have done things, including what you mention in the posts above. http://x.cixx-online.com/x/TC_Runway(Final).Sara.pbo

Hi Smoke52, I just posted my 1st mission as well - http://x.cixx-online.com/x/TC_Runway(Final).zip I will have a go at yours, and hopefully learn some about the different ways you can do things. I will put some feedback once I have tried it.

Thanks Infamous. I would be greatful of any feedback on how things could be improved. However please don't go too technical as I am a noob with scripting. Also if you enjoyed it, please let me know.

Hi all. I have just got into the map-making side of ArmA, and would like to release my 1st map for download. http://x.cixx-online.com/x/TC_Runway(Final).zip Thanks to Rick Rawlings for a great beginners guide to mission creating, and to Chris Henderson for a great scripting program "ArmA Edit". I have enclosed a readme file in the zip with details. Hope you enjoy!
