    Hi, Many thanks for all your work - really useful module. Little 'bug' I think we found last night. Have created a coop mission and found that if near a vehicle when dead you can roll to it, get inside and use mounted guns etc as tho still concious. also the hact that you can roll means easy for injured players to roll into cover which negates teamate need to drag bodies to cover before first aid. Is this something that can be fixed?

    There just arent enough zombies in it to justify spending time and money I guess :rolleyes: I guess sooner or later the modding community may be the saviour, thats where more of the better developments with this engine seem to originate. I did kind of envisage this to game to be kind of like Warfare on ArmA2 but on a continental scale - maybe theres something in that for multiplayer ? ;) BTW these or only my opinions, feel free to ignore - Im probably wrong :p.
  3. Awesome work again craig. Hope you dont mind but had a few thoughts after trying to play DAYZ again the other day. I know some of these have been touched on before but wondered if there was any new thoughts following your additional work on these. Was wondering if you will ever put a food / hunger / repair system in here? also I believe a persistant database was mentioned a while ago. The reason I bring this up is after (trying) to play DAYZ again realised that one of the biggest problems is now hackers. Now seeing as this and DAYZ are a survival game ( at least thats the part which I believe the most fun and different from other The hacking in DAYZ kills the game totally however this could be solved easily by allowing admins to password or lock the server. Now because this does run off a central database I can see the point of this but it doesnt help the server admins protect the server or their users. Now with DZS I believe this could aspire to the role of a true survival game which allows users to log in with stuff they might have found / food etc and barricades / built bases still in place however this is only saved on the server that hosts the game. Now personally I would run this probably on veteran, with low food / guns / vehicles - probably good for about 10 players. Users would have to have a PW pm- through forums so would have to register, but thats all. The advantages of this would be a game 'world' which those users could feel is their own to scavenge and barricade. Server restart would of course refresh resources and zeds and would imagine a 'game' lasting 3 days to a week. Now Im not trying to steel the thunder of DAYZ with these ideas, as I do prefer DZS and love the idea that DZS requires no mods which is a great strength. ..maybe this is not for the original DZS as you have built it - but a mission maybe created in parallel (based on the latest current version) could be an idea if any others have the talent (unfortunately I only have the ideas and limited scripting ability) Would like to know what the DZS community think about this. EDIT - An additional idea I had was a more PvP oriented game with sides and scores (maybe 5v5 or 10v10). No database on this one - but a scoreboard, side missions to fight over and both teams starting from predetermined fixed spawn points (bases) which can be extended and improved (but 2 or 3 set random spawn points). More basic weapons ie no TWS or armored vehicles / helicopters. Could be a fun competative element with zombie survival mixed in - if theres a way to sort the problem you had with sides and zed aggression. Sorry for the long post but if I had the talent I would try this myself. Hope something here is inspirational to youself or the other the talented scripters.

  9. Hmm strange things happening.. started as bluefor and with 2 scars already on spawn 20 zeds per km and even with just me on server they were running in slomo. Died and respawned - with an m16? - was set to no weapons Restarted mission again as civilian and spawned with no NV (was in params to start with NV) Saying that for some reason nights seam a little lighter, but did start mission as mid-day - tho started as night again. used 10 zeds per km and didnt have any noticable lag, though for some reason ever since the 1.0 versions keep getting 'no message from server' every now and then 10 to 15 seconds. Found perfect Humvee - no damage. Crashed into a small tree (not even fast) and died instantly?? will try again later when have more time.

  11. Yes thats the one I uploaded. It seams that if I start as Admin and change any parameters the game sticks on splash screen (loading objects). If i then disconnect I can log in but not as admin. Not sure if its a problem with admin slot or changing parameters tho. Its playing now, but getting laggy again, moonwalking zeds etc. ..and tonight is the first time I have seen a zed get throughh the barriers at the AI base mission - usually thats pretty solid.

  15. Joshy, tbh theres not much point running a dedicated server and your client on one machine. Just causes too much CPU stress, tho might be ok for testing purposes - just expect more lag. Most of the dedis out there (like ours) are using 100M lines and are dedicated to just running the servers. You can easily set up a dedi on your own machine if you want to try it by running the ArmA2OAserver.exe in your game directory. Look at some of the many guides available such as http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/ArmA:_Dedicated_Server http://www.kellys-heroes.eu/files/tutorials/dedicated/ TBH tho running client as well might not be worth it.
  16. Not sure if lag is any worse , I dont believe so. would be interesting to know how the zombie spawns are set up. Do they exist only when a player enters an area? or do they all spawn when the game starts? sometimes I notice the (server) lag gets better as the game goes on Could this be that the game is creating objects still and 'activating' zeds by being in the area just chokes things up until everything has spawned? If there is more info or specific gameplay tests you would like us to try Craig, please list - would be happy to help how I can.

  18. joshy145 Im running a dedicated server name [OAP] Zombtards IP 109.70.148.73:2314 This is running the 1.0 testing version - give it a try and see if you can move objects on there - if not guessing its some syncing problem with client I imagine, never had a problem moving stuff myself. skt2008 I'm kind of getting a ssytem when I place things now, just make sute they dont intersect existing world objects and 'seems' to work - its hit and miss. TBH Im finding that by the time I have a base built, even a small one - I've killed every zed in the area which makes it kind of pointless. Also when the barriers do work the zeds just stand there with their hands behind their sides looking at you. Would be awesome if they tried to climb over or something - kind of ruins any immersion. ! am running 20 per km as any more and get massive lag still.
  19. Ive never had a problem yet with moving objects tbh. If you give them some time the menu does appear. I usually 'initialise' the menu on a vehicle firest (load menu) then give it a few seconds and it will appear when facing any object. Did a bit more testing with zombies walking through objects last night. Not conclusive but it seems zombies have an easier job passing through objects if they intersect an existing object in the universe - say a wall or house etc.

Tried to run the 1.0 testing version tonight and had some problems. Generally Zeds almost running on the spot. Now I imagine this is some kind of server lag but thought I'd fixed this before by tinkering with the arma.cfg Also lots getting kicked and banned tonight. So I guess my questions are threefold. 1. Any suggestions as to why all of a sudden the game lags real hard and zeds are moonwalking. 2. Any suggestions for editing the ArmA.cfg (or server config) to allow smoother gameplay bearing in mind the amount of AI in this mission 3. are there any other reasons why people are getting kicked / banned or is this just down to Battleye connection errors? Hope someone can help

  22. no offence but personally I wish people would stop going on about ArmA3. As far as we know its not arriving til 2013. That means plenty of time to enjoy and explore ArmA2 to its fullest. Sorry for the rant I just hope that the current 'lets wait for ArmA3' comments doesnt rub off on the mission makers and devs - if so then ArmA2 will die. I would like to think that Craig and the other talented guys keep building for the present version (and I think the missions etc should be 'similar' to port easily)
