ARMA II weapons IN OA
Tako_Kichi replied to Tako_Kichi's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
My 17 year old daughter also likes to play ARMA and I know several females who like to play the CoD series of war games. They are on different partitions of the same drive but unfortunately when I bought and installed the Steam version of OA I didn't see an option to install to my 'games' drive/partition and it installed to 'C:\Program Files\.....' instead. However, when I ran the CO option from the Steam game shortcut I could see both sets of game maps when I tried to start a LAN MP server but selecting OA's Takistan only gave me the OA weapons as usual. Maybe I am misunderstanding what CO does but I thought it combined both games into one (including weapons and vehicles) but it looks like I am just getting an interface/GUI to select either version from the same screen and then the original version runs. -
ARMA II weapons IN OA

If I start Combined Ops then when I set up the LAN MP server I can indeed see all the ARMA islands and the various OA areas but the weapons stay dedicated to each area once I pick one to play in. That's what I guessed but I was hoping for a way of doing it. She has a long history of playing FPS type games going way back through the Quake series and the original Castle Wolfenstein running in DOS on a 386! She's very good and actually outscores me in ARMA II from time to time. -
My wife and I regularly play the 'Diplomacy' missions on our LAN and both have the DVD versions of ARMA II. We recently both acquired the Steam versions of OA and found that we don't like the stock small arms as much as we do the ones from ARMA II. In particular we are really missing the Mk.12 SPR rifle. I have set up the Combined Operations option in the Steam menu but that doesn't seem to offer any additional weapons in the 'Warfare' version of OA. Is there a way of getting the Mk.12 SPR to appear as an available weapon in OA? I have looked at the weapon PBOs but they appear to have the same names so a simple replacement looks out of the question.

Thanks for that. I did search but I guess my search terms didn't turn up that link.

I would like to use the 'UK_BRITISH_FORCES_PACK_V1.0' and 'British_Royal_Marines_V2_e' addons in Warfare either as replacements for some of the West equipment/troops or in addition to them. I have unpacked the PBO and looked at the files but I am not sure just which files I need to edit or where and how. I do have some experience making missions and using scripts but I am a bit lost on just where to start. Has anyone tried adding additional units to Warfare that can help throw some light on this? I have searched this forum but not found anything useful yet.

Do you know if it is possible to add a save game option to the MP version too? Myself and a couple of friends like to play the MP version but we can never get more than one town cleared before we have to quit and that means starting again from the beginning. It would be really nice if we could save our progress and restart with the same settings. Failing that can the SP actually be played with 2-3 people? I will download the SP version now and give it a run .

Over the past couple of days a buddy and myself have been playing v3.0 with one or the other of us acting as the 'host'. We had a couple of lockups that forced us to restart and of course we lost all the game settings/ranks/scores etc. It would be nice if there was a way the 'host' could save the game at certain points so that it can be resumed at a later date. We don't have the time to play the entire mission in one sitting and we can't leave ARMA running in the background while we do other stuff as we are both beta-testers for another game and need the full computer resources when testing that. Is there a way to save the game so that it can be resumed at a later date (with the scores/ranks/objectives completed retained) and if not is it possible that a feature like that could be introduced in a later release?

I put the above files in my main ARMA directory and I am happy to report that I can now play again . It needs fixing for the final release though.

The error does NOT appear with the patch installer. It ONLY appears when you double click on the 'Launch Arma Beta Patch' shortcut. I can't comment on Joern's observation regarding .... ...as I never get to see it as the first problem stops me dead in the water. HTH Larry

Hi, I downloaded the 1.07 beta patch yesterday and then spent eight fruitless hours trying to get it to run. It took three hours to install and then crashed as soon as I tried to run it. I then defragged my HD, re-downloaded the patch from a different mirror in case I had a corrupt download and re-installed. After another three hour wait it crashed again as soon as I tried to run it. In each case I got the same error message: <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">The procedure entry point TraceMessage could not be located in the dynamic link library ADVAPI32.dll. After some searching on the web I discovered that there is a difference between the ADVAPI32.dll for Win2K and the one for XP. I can only assume that the build for the 1.07 patch did not take into consideration the users still running Win2K as the DVD case clearly states that Win2K is a supported OS. I am now left with the option of running the 1.05+ build (which runs just fine BTW) and not playing online with my friends who are now patched to 1.07, waiting for the full 1.07 patch in the hopes that this problem gets fixed or biting the bullet and upgrading to XP at a substantial cost as I have three computers on a LAN here and that money could be better spent on new hardware . It is not my intention to whine here but simply to bring the problem to the attention of the developers in case it was a simple oversight during the build process (I am a beta-tester for a well known flight sim and understand how these things can happen). Hopefully this can be addressed in the next patch or maybe someone can give me a few pointers on how to fix it to run on Win2K but I have a gut feeling that the problem lies within the patch as 1.05+ runs fine. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Larry
