I notced a performance and sound increase (quality) when I put in a X-Fi Gamer card too before this update. I see you are running a very similar system overcloked, are you running XP64 or 32bit ?
-
Ok, are you removing the drivers first or just installing over the top ? Use Drivercleaner to remove the drivers before you change them or you may have newer or older files left on the system that could effect performance. Also, a great way of helping although I find it odd as it works 80% of the time is to put -maxmem=512 BEFORE the -mod=beta statement on your shortcut or batch file which ever you use. Performance seems to increase with this. Drivers hopefully will be fixed in the coming months... anyone from BIS care to comment ?

On explorer select Tools, Folder Options, View, and untick the Hide Extensions for known file types radar.

Odd patch behaviour or machine but if I use the maxmem=512 statement then I see to get less texture popups and performance appears to be improved (I have 2Gb DDR and 512 X1950Pro) but on some occassions I lose performance and the game runs poorly. After a reboot before the game I appear to get the best performance, is the game shutdown not clearing the memory correctly ? Is there something taht can 'clean' my ememory on exit ?

It is down to perspective and as I don't like stalker then my opinion is jaded.
-
I have STUTTER I mean STALKER and sorry but the AI isn't that great, ArmA has much better overall feel with the AI. STALKER is not a good game.

Right Click My Computer Select Advanced tab Select Performance Settings Select Advanced tab Select Virtual memory - Change Click the radar button that says No Page File, ok, and reboot. It could cause issues for other programs and windows could stop operating so be aware of that before you make changes especially if you are not that computer literate. The best advice for the pagefile I heard was 1. Make the size min to max the same (stops it constantly chanign its size) 2. Have the paging file on a separate disk preferably the fastest one and different from your o/s. 3. Never trust strangers.

Suma, (Or Moderator) wouldn't it be a good idea to make a sticky for 'Beta Patch Feedback' as to not start hundreds of posts on the same subject ? Just an idea. 7 hours to go before I can try it dammit.
-
While you are at it, why not try it on a Ramdrive too, that should be pretty quick but don't expect it to be there if you reboot
-
Thanks both, the direct scan one sorted, and I had to remove the key assignments which conflicted with keys I was already using.

Quick question, is there any way to disable the recognition of TrackIR (in my case NewView) which I use in IL2 but for some reason screws up ArmA on start making me have to alt-tab out and back for the keyboard to start working. Removing NewView dll (NPClient.dll) corrects issue so I think it is being picked up by ArmA thinking I have TrackIR... Thanks,

I just bought an X-Fi sound card to replace the mobo built in Nforce one, seems to give me better performance ! Just an idea. Anyways: Sound now is superb, EAX enabled and hearing distant gun shots, explosions, vehicles is just amazing, makes the game a true long player for me! /Signed

6.7's should work on the newer cards but using them you will lose some features that were incoroporated in the later sets or the sets that truely support your card. For one example, 6.7's on my X1950Pro does not like Call of Juarez, I end up with a dazzling colourful screen instead of gameplay. Lets hope this issue is fixed but it can be minimalised with the suggested workaround although I persoanlly haven't noticed the issue too much. On the other hand my system just likes to shutdown or reboot randomly during ArmA.

Sounds like some errors in the pbo files. I would suggest a clean re-install. Don't forget to save your custom missions etc.
-
Works much better for the majority. Shame.
-
Ok, I guess its ok to tell everyone I already have patch ? 466.3MB nice Lovelly new menu system, much more responsive, new icons etc. not played much as I am working.
-
Just a note for you - if you have modified any of your PBO files including sound / weapons etc. the installer will 'probably' fail so you may wish to do a clean re-install while waiting for it to d/l.
-
Aux missions are there to hopefully help with the main mission but yes, like you, I thought you could just do the main mission only.

Patch 1.04 to 1.05 is around 210 MB All versions to 1.05 patch is around 475 MB (when in zip files, sfx or 7z or rar can bring it even lower but not sure such option will be provided anywhere) Nice, can you pm me the link tonight so I can download just to save everyone going for it at once One day someone will fall for that and give it to me.

Phew, I thought it was just me. Weird as when I typed in console and it came up with the other persons name they didn't appear to worried about it and carried on 'trying' to play but occasionally talking to themselves.

How's the beta testing going ? I'm finding my beta testing has encountered some bugs for which BIS are fixing, oh, wait a minute, they are relasing a fix on Friday for a large amount of problems. Until then, carry on beta testing, it really helps the devs to know if there are any other bug / issues that need addressing. I must have been alpha testing with 1.01 then, is that right ? I keep walking past the English version in shops... glad I didn't wait and got the German version.

I just wanted to know if this problem exists in ALL the drivers or just the latest 7.2 release ? My first post hurrah !

I hear he is just a nice chap who trawls forums looking for answers, sort of like David Carradine in Kung Fu but without the dodgy makeup.

Unfortunately, we experience a slight delay of version 1.05. We apologize for the delay. Our current plan is to release on Friday March 2nd. More news coming soon. Not such a bad thing and only a few days. btw: for those who may be slow on the uptake if you wish to read the same sentance post by Marduk then go and read the Arma - News forum. Hope that helps.
