Animals are available and playable in the editor. They do not have 'weapons' so only half your dream is answered.

Patch 1.02 has a line that says it fixes some crashes, lets hope it means yours. Should be out later... Just out of interest have you tried running as administrator in case you dont have correct rights ?

There has been an ArmA2 profile in the drivers since 9.4 I believe so there should be no need to rename the .exe, but if it works for you then all good. I also hear the putting lucky heather near your GPU also increases FPS but I may be mistaken.

Looks like its a purely cosmetic patch apart from a couple of AI modifications unless the understated 'Improved game stability' is a winner although I probably would have highlighted that more with some detail as to the crash opportunities...

I think you are all confused, at the high settings he used that is all realtime and not slowed down, I know misleading isn't it. ;) j/k

I appreciate the suggestions but I have enabled and disabled about everything and tested including sidebanding, fastwrites, AGP 4x/8x, underclocked, overclocked, increased power to memory, agp, increase PCI latency, removed drivers, tried no CCC, tried fan control 100%, tried with case off, tried standing on one leg, everything in game to low, 1024x768, everything to very high, running in high priority, running in lower priority, trying single, dual and all 4 CPU's, increasing AGP from 66-86Mhz, reducing down to 33Mhz, turning off DEP, turning on DEP enabling selection process, disabling LAN, disbaling Firewall, disabling Antvirus, checking power consumptio, temps, magnitic fields bounding the earth so next thing to do is to encase my machine in 6-8" lead incase there is and sort of interferrence causing this issue in just THIS game. Did I miss anything ? And the great news is the 1.02 patch appears to have little in the way of fixes but the 'important' option to disable blur effect wtf ? Looks like me and the other 'few' will have to suffer while the next option to disable somthing is added, yay.

What if the patch breaks more than it fixes ? Releasing it on a Friday just as they close shop would not be a wise move.

I wish someone could sticky the issue, the more people who get the game the more people will have this problem that only effects a small percentage of users so we will start getting loads of posts describing the same problem. So far some 'workarounds' exist but don't fix the problem, its not an overheating problem on the majority of folk as we have tested the temps.

As dvolk says, the only reason it was called final was because we got to test the 1.01 BETA prior to a final version being released.

Before you comment, this is the ONLY game in my collection of most of the new and old PC games (mainly FPS's) that has this issue. GART is 3.77 as any later it blue screens and ASRock say use 3.77. It would be so easy to say 'ah its your mobo' becuase I can't replace it at the moment... I await your startling reality check and solution to all my woes... wouldnt it be funny if patch 1.02 fixed the problem... Impressions of UK version: Same as German version but in English. Same problems exist with screen corruption, no amount of tweaking gets rid of it. The game is broken for me although I can frig my system to get it working but not a great start. If only there was some recognition of this fault with ArmA2 and certain hardware and 'we are working on a fix' from BIS would help me... Screen shots of corruption will be posted as soon as I cba in all my regular forums.

Running at 1024x768 gives me exactly the same error with massive screen corruption... where does that fit in the theory ?

This is a new game and as such will attract a new player and most probably anyone that has played a FPS that wants to try something different. Well in other FPS's the aim of the game is to run, bunny hop and kill as quickly as possible and tk is meant to be fun. We already saw this on the release of the German version but in a small scale but it can really ruin a server, I suggest that servers have admins at all times ready to perm ban the kiddies that wish to 'test out tking skills' in game. The BF2 crowd will be all over this because it looks nice, also the CS crowd will jump on baord hoping to get some CS type action out of it... we know it doesn't exist so in a week or 2 they should get bored and go back to their BF type games give us the occasional appearnce to test the admins. I do suggest that TKing at any base or spawn gets a perm ban from your server as they will not learn and come back as 'it seems like fun'. Good luck to server admins and players, please keep your cool and continue to try and play whatever mission you are on without retaliating. :bounce3:
