Very nice night effects.

I really like the swimming; I just wonder what stipulations are in place regarding units and weapons, and features. Will Special Forces be able to carry weapons while swimming? Do units suffer from fatigue while swimming? Can we actually swim under the surface? Regarding the building destruction, I think decals need to be placed when a tank shell hits the face of the wall, some indication that the building is under fire, that and more smoke would do it for me.

I see quite a few people had the same idea as me. Located somewhere in the bottom left corner, out of view from any soldiers and a getaway car hid in the bushes.

Because it would be official, the community add-ons are great and all but, if you look at it from the perspective of someone just getting into ofp/arma, it’s going to be real annoying for that group due to servers running single addons. They don’t want to be searching sites for a single tank or helicopter, making sure that it’s the right version and that it doesn’t need other addons to function. They just want to play.

For all we know BIS could be planning to release other vehicles along with patches like they did with Flashpoint.
-
Sure does look nice, especially the beach textures.

I’m just intrigued as to where CAPT Kane placed his marker. And his reasons behind it.

Funny this should be brought up, it was only a few nights ago that we (as a clan) were discussing the uses of swimming in ArmA. The conversation went on for at least an hour, the general consensus was that it would be a nice feature but probably wouldn’t be missed. Considering we haven’t seen much of any water inland, the uses would be limited, but that’s only if you’re thinking within the box (so to speak.) In view of the large modding community we have here, I’m sure there would be entire maps based around the use of a swimming feature. Maybe one designed around Alcatraz? Hans Zimmer's music playing conspicuously in the background

Placebo, any clarification to what’s happening to the soldier in the last image? Hate to speculate.
-
Ether he’s limping or it’s a animation transition to crouched or prone positions. I hope it’s the first though.
-
BIS have added six more screenshots to the official page.
-
I hope that BIS will include other animals other than birds, butterflies and dragonflies. After all, those animals don’t effect game-play whatsoever, they do add to the immersion but isn’t that killed if you keep seeing empty farms? (Didn't they have sheep and more in VBS1?)

Guess you didn't play Soldner then?

Servers have the ability to disable custom faces in Flashpoint, I’m sure they’ll have the same power to do so in Armed Assault. In regards for allowing custom faces BUT not the silly ones. Well frankly that’s just up to the administrators to stipulate that. But surely anyone with a brightly coloured face would be easier to notice, thus kill. I support custom faces, it’s a way of personalising your character, your friends and enemies will both learn your face as opposed being a generic one.

One major gripe I’ve always had with OFP’s tank aspect is the damage system. I would like the tanks in ArmA to be capable of being properly disabled and immobilized, no super healing from a repair truck. In OFP, a tank which has suffered maximum damage to its tracks is still capable of moving in a straight line, now to my knowledge that’s unrealistic (please correct me if I’m wrong on this one.) Also tanks taking damage in the engine section are still capable of functioning until the tank is destroyed. And as pointed out, tanks can be destroyed via bullets and grenades. In my opinion tanks should be feared, respected and above all, valued. It’ s no good if people see a tank driving through the countryside and think to themselves, we can easily destroy it with three RPGs and the crew will die in the explosion. Tanks in flashpoint are a death-trap, surely it would be a better idea if a tank could only be destroyed by the appropriate munitions, lesser munitions by all means could be used to disable the tank, hell it would make for some interesting sub scenarios, disabled tank needs assistance, crew taking heavy fire. I’d like that. As for the actual repairing of a tank, this shouldn’t be instantaneous as it is in Flashpoint, give it a progress bar or animation indicating that the tank is being repaired. Repairs should also be able to be carried out by crew members. If you can imagine all this then surely you can understand the prospect for large scale multiplayer games and what these features would bring to the game play. Tanks would feared but also along with that fear would be the of losing one or worse, losing one to the enemy. Anyone that has played Soldiers Heroes of World War II will undoubtedly understand what I’m raving about, all these features are capable of being implemented within OFP, I *hope* that BIS has something similar in line for the tanks in Armed Assault.

Very impressed with the animations, this video shows them off far better than we’ve seen previously. (Reminds me very much of Raven Shield with the free-leaning ability.)
-
Congratulations Placebo. Finally I’ll have something worthwhile to post on our site. (Assuming this isn’t a sick joke )
-
I don’t know if that’s entirely possible without creating severe clipping issues. In third person you see the soldiers are holding the rifle correctly and as you probably know OFP/ArmA doesn’t use a separate model for the first person view, like the majority of fps games (BF2, Raven Shield, HL2, Farcry, etc.)
-
I noticed that none of the interviewers popped the question wither or not we’ll be able to record games. It would be the ultimate training tool for clans, it was extremely useful in bf2, picking faults in different strategies, etc. Not to mention how handy it would be for the hardcore coop gamers. Just imagine the amount of fan-made movies that would appear if such a feature was available.

Adding realistic limb severing and gore would be the final icing on the cake in terms of enthralling atmosphere. Seeing a friendly soldier get cut up by enemy fire because he wasn’t in cover could really teach the new recruits a lesson. But it would send the age rating straight to 18+, which necessarily isn’t a bad thing considering it seems to be more of an attraction to the majority of gamers. But most likely frowned upon by publishers.
