  1. There is a problem with OFP. You cannot fully delete a unit that is in a vehicle - residual bits remain. Instead try: {_x setPos [0,0,0];deleteVehicle _x} forEach crew vehiclename This will move all the crew (and cargo) units to 0,0,0 and then delete them. To keep it clean you might want to put an unassignVehicle instruction in there as well incase the now empty vehicle gets confused. Something like: {_x setPos [0,0,0];unassignVehicle _x;deleteVehicle _x} forEach crew vehiclename EDIT: I just read that you plan for the plane to crash anyway - so why not just kill the pilot?

What you have done is perfectly okay - don't worry. Â There are many ways to deal with this mission and yours is one of them. Remember that Alexi is 'family'. Â Look at the picture of Nikolai in the the briefing. Â Where was the photograph taken? Â Alexi knows about the place.

LoTekK: Actually I when I started I was writing the mission to be played this way - with absolutely no help from the map or briefing. So don't be embarrased. Lol You can be embarrased about that though. I am glad you like it. Â I won't answer the question about the flags. Â There is a lot of stuff in the mission that the player just has to figure out, it is meant to be part of the experience. Â Which brings me on to: Xawery & Abs_01: I never said bringing down choppers was a bad thing. Â I just asked Xawery if he really wanted to do it.

You probably got caught up in some crossfire, not just a bullet out of thin air. Â Nothing to do with me. Â This is how OFP chose to behave in that particular circumstance. Â It is interesting. Â I think I know the reason - the jeeps are strange creatures. Â Some beta testers have found that if they get in a damaged jeep then their squad will sometimes see the player as an enemy and kill him (you). Â It seems the chopper also had a degree of confusion about this. Â Bye the way though: Are you sure you really wanted to bring the chopper down?

Okay if you double clicked then that is another matter. Â The only way to protect against this is to copy and rename your save files. There are several things you could have done. Â But believe me the fighting doesn't start unless the player makes it. Â I have left the mission soak for 5 days several times just to make sure the vehicles keep running and the fighting doesn't start on its own. That would be telling

No your save hasn't gone. Â When you go back into the game you are taken to the place you were the last time you exited the mission alive. Â You may have a later save. Â To get to it press Escape and then Retry - I bet that will get you to where you expected to be. Â This is mentioned in the readme file. Quite right - I don't script things like that it would be cheating. Â It is standard OFP that if you are spotted by a unit or if you only wound a unit it will know where you are, so all the members of its group will know where you are, so all the guard groups of that side will know where you are. Â So two shots with a silenced weapon and the guy lies dead - but if the first shot didn't kill him then run like hell, and if there is a sniper in his group that has a clear shot of you .... I am glad you are sticking with it. You seem to have got them fighting each other - that is an excellent move.

If the soldiers know where you are then guard units will head your way - so no there are no safe areas.

No and maybe.I am not sure but it might have something to do with: Perhaps you were spotted and some guard units are now searching for you.

You have discovered the secrect of this mission. Â Find out what is going on before you start destroying stuff. I am glad you are enjoying it. Â On the ofpec beta thread I have just finished replying to someone who was suggesting what score this mission should be given. Â My reply was that the score was not important to me. Â What is important is comments from people who play the mission and enjoy it. Â That is the real reward. Â So please keep them coming (For those that play the mission and don't like it I have a couple of comments: - when I was building it I expected most people would hate it so I really expect it. - the time to tell me was when the mission was in beta testing. Â It is too late now. )
  11. I think you would need to create an array of all the west soldiers and use that instead of 'units group player'

Lol. Â Thank you.Yes you do have to think about what you are doing. Â Attacking the first and everything you see is not my favourite way to do the mission. Â You really need to try and understand what is going on first. To have taken any casualties at that stage means you have a bit of a problem on your hands. Â No impossible, one beta tester deliberately left his team at the lodge and did the whole mission on his own. Â I couldn't do that. Â I need to use the team.
  13. In my experience if a vehicle is badly damaged 0.9 or 0.95 I can't remember, it eventually does blow up all by itself after a few seconds.

    Abandoned Armies 1.4

Thank you for your comments I remember - you are are in the list of beta testers. On the lag in the earlier versions: I did a lot of restructuring from the first couple of versions to remove a lot of background processing. Â The acid test as you say is when things really start to get hot. Â I can't do much about lag then, it is all to do with units moving and projectiles flying. Yes I did test it for days (5 to be precise) - I wanted to make sure the island would continue to operate forever if the player did not do anything. Â In fact I tested it many times for several days at a time until I got it working properly. Â This is important. Â The mission would easily run fine for 20 hours or so and then the AI drivers would get screwed up. Â It was worth it though. Â I have just finished a complete run through of v1.4 as a player not as a builder (it is too late to make changes now). Â Mission time on completion was 24 hours and 7 minutes (I am a slow player). Â Dawn on the second day was terrific.

Thank you for your kind comments, I really do appreciate them. Â I suggest you try no ECP but full setting first. Â Full settings doesn't change the story or the fighting - but it does have very big effect on the atmosphere. I built the damned thing and some of the effect still make me jump.

I do hope you enjoy it. On how long it takes, well one tip is to collect NVGs as you go. It is embarassing to have to go hunting for them when the sun sets. On your post at OFP Base - the picture of Anropov seems to show him with some form of disguise - is this an add-on that you have?

    Abandoned Armies 1.4

LoTekK: One piece of advice: Don’t play this mission as if it were a normal OFP mission. Play it as if you were young inexperienced and on your own facing an army of soldiers. In other words: run like hell. If you stay in Vigny you will die there – the same applies to anywhere where you might think of lingering. Eventually you will be swamped by overwhelming force.

L etranger: You should also be getting some warning messages telling you to halt. If you ignore them you must understand how some nervous frightened people would deal with you.
