Question about ofp 2 marketing strategy
Tamme replied to havocsquad's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Whooa. Where did you play. I wanna go there! Welcome to Finland! I think OFP2 deserves to be advertised more, but it should be targeted to mature players who know how this game should be played and respect good simulations. Not to some kids who think this is Quake with vehicles. -
What's so odd about a chinook getting hit? Maybe some of us have been playing OFP too long. Yeah  Tamme how often do we se Chinooks falling from the sky? I dont think Iraqis have got AA or SAM with such potential as to bring a heli down. From the news i am hearing is that americans are being very lax in security they have even moved back the airport security perimeter from 5000 m to 2000 m more danger for aircrafts to be hit and i also read that they have taken the Baghdad airports Mcdonalds hostage  Ok, I get it. And that McDonalds isn't a hostage. The americans just took back what's theirs. McDonalds' are like little american embassies.

Question about ofp 2 marketing strategy

The only game that is mostly if not entirely made up of team killing no0bs. No team killing there. I've never encountered a TK in CS. Dunno what's the last time you played, but my friends lured me to play Counter-Strike a couple of months ago. I got hooked and played for about two months. It was rather civilized, they do have some sense of tactics and team play these days. Luckily that stupid Steam woke me up and I grabbed my OFP: GOTY box once again. If you wan't to hear more about my dark history, I was once a member of a CS clan. That was before OFP of course! I stopped when CS 1.0 came out. I got bored. But I've never been bored to OFP. Gee, I'm still not cured. Defending CS in the BIS Forums... (sob) -
There's no WWII in OFP2... This delay thing is not that bad. I'll have more time getting better hardware.

Question about ofp 2 marketing strategy

We need to get all the CS players to join us. My friends play CS and they don't appreciate this great game at all. I can't even get them to test it. CS is fun, but OFP is something really special and awesome. -
i don't think the recoile alters much the bipod just helps you stabilice the weapon to make it more contoleable. STGN Isn't that the same thing?

Americans aren't going to believe this BS, are they?

Sounds good. I've been thinking of trying Linux. Just to see if it's any good, and just for change really. Is it possible to customise my desktop in Win2k like that? I don't think so. Actually it's the combatibility issues that I've been worrying about. Will OFP work? This Palladium or whatever shit is really making me angry. If I wan't someone telling me what to say, what to do, what to think, I'll move to China or some other commie country. I wan't to think for myself. Win2k is controlling my doings enough already. I can't decide exactly what drivers I wan't to install, cause Windows won't let me, if it thinks the default drivers are good enough I can't change them! Â Â I'm no n00b, I wan't (and need) total control over my computer.

This was suggested before, and the discussion ended in the conclusion that it's nearly impossible to reload while moving (and not get killed). First you find cover, then you reload. I'd like the weapon actions animated too. And scrap the action menu, it's too clumsy. There are better ways to implement all the actions.

FDF Paratroop Recon Squad dropped from the sky to fight some russkies. That's the way I like it. Sometimes I take a Combat Diver, equip him with a sniper rifle and parachute in to the water, swim to a nice spot and start taking out russian officers.

Shit, what kind of a Finn am I? Unknown Soldier is a classic goddamnit. I once almost bought The Winter War, but I decided to buy some other war movie. Don't remember which one.
-
Saving Private Ryan and Band of Brothers. BoB is obviously better. I tried to watch Platoon once, but was too tired so I had to go to bed. Full Metal Jacket's good too.

My god! I've wanted to get into 3d modelling for a loong time, but even the amateur programs are too expensive, and now I can get a real professional program for free. (Or no-cost, whatever) I'll have to download it tomorrow and try learning use it.

Yep, a spacelift can't be build: 1) It ruins the landscape! 2) What if it collapses? 3) What if it's used for wrong purposes? (Taking over the world) 4) A birds path maube obstructed by it and the bird may have to go around it. And many more... They'll find something wrong with it and then the project will be canceled.

Yes, Söldner. I saw some new screenies and it looked much much better than the early ones I saw before. It might be an interesting experience.
-
Goddamnit people speak to me! What's the capitalist answer?
-
IIRC Far Cry will be just another generic shooter, but it's AI is something to look forward to.
-
Halif-Life relied heavily on scripting, i am not sure if the ai was that great... Yes almost every scene was scripted. BUT... during firefights the AI was incredibly smart. HL2 has no scripted sequences and it is promised to have an even better atmosphere than HL so I think we'll be getting a new title in our lists... um ... god knows when it's coming out.
-
Half-Life upped AI and it forced developers to think about the story and depth in first person shooters too.

I was lucky enough to get a huge crack in my original OFP cd so I had to buy GOTY. You're not missing much. There's only a few good songs there. That's what I think anyways.
-
Ummm... no. You put the first CD in to play the game and all the sounds work, nothing is missing. The third CD is an audio disc which I haven't discovered any other use than listening OFP music from it.
-
The Federation of Northern Kingdoms is almost ready to go, but I have a problem. If I answer "Strongly disagree" to "Capitalism is on the way out", does that make me a commie or a capitalist? I've never heard anyone say that so I don't know what it means.

The enemy definately knows the position of the airbase, but turning the lights off would make it a bit harder to hit. Again, the enemy pilots sure have NVGs so it propably doesn't make a big difference.
-
Yes, that's right. But if you need to take out a terrorist leader, why do you have to bomb him down with a helicopter? Wouldn't a well placed sniper do the job?
