In Windows, ALT+F4 will close a program down. In OFP, if you are say flying a helicopter and are looking out a side window with ALT pressed down when you decide to order team member F4 to move to a specific location...WHAMMO..OFP is terminated and you get dropped to desktop.

MR Z: Yeah, that is a real problem too. But, BIS wont fix this I dont believe. I dont see why you cant have the AI react just a little better when fired upon. If fire comes in hide in a bush or next to something (or even in something like a house)

Well Hamster, one might argue that what you saw was a trigger and not AI acting on its own. When AI is left to itself, sometimes it really stinks. Heres a recap: 1) Soldiers stand around when combat occurred nearby and they certainly would have heard the shots 2) AI has psychic powers - they know when a vehicle is stolen no matter what 3) AI fires three round bursts repeatedly at targets hundreds of meters away 4) AI needs more likelike actions rather than standing around like a statue the list goes on yet I grow weary...and I still like this game. I just want to see it improve thats all.

Yeah BIS can pound sand if they think we are going to accept that excuse for EVERY situation. They simply aren't going to fix it because they can't. In the situation above, I would most likely agree with SUMA although it is weak..I can see it. But we have all experienced the weird psychic powers of the AI and its ability to KNOW when a vehicle is occupied and or taken over. Take for example an enemy URAL. Say you find one parked by a house as a resitance outfit and comandeer it. You can drive all you want but as SOON as an enemy unit sees you whether it is an enemy soldier or enemy vehicle it fires at you. Â How in the heck do they know you have stolen a truck? And secondly BIS, you say the BMP called the Shilka on the radio and attacked it because it didn't answer? God help the poor S.O.B. whose radio breaks down or doesn't answer right away. And why not make the radio comms active so you could try to deceive the enemy? Bottom line is as I said, BIS can't fix and wont fix. I mean for Christ's sake, they can't even add a sound effect when you run through a bush on foot! And the speed of sound for LMGs doesnt work at all like other sounds effects at distance do. Here we are in ver 1.30 and it still isnt fixed. And why do soldiers fire three round bursts at you when you are hundreds of meters away? Who would do that? Can't they have single fire mode SOME OF THE TIME? And while Im at it, the AI in all of its glory, is not lifelike at all. Ever watch them just before you attack? They will all stand facing around in the same position for hours. Why not an animation of smoking a cigarette? Taking a leak? Stretching? Shaking hands? Eating? Okay, now i'm off my rocker but Im still spot on with some of the lameness and heck, I still like this game alot. Got like six friends to buy it. (Edited by TeAcH at 2:04 pm on Dec. 9, 2001)

yeah. I heard 1.35 by mid Dec - no new units or weapons - just bug fixes. Perhaps real speed of sound for LMGs and new sounds effects for running through bushes, and other weapons.

Someone said the DX8.1 is the cause and you have to use DX8 for now.

A command that would allow you to direct all AI under your control to scrounge the battlefield for AMMO and replacement weapons off of dead soldiers would be very nice. My friends and I were playing a COOP. One of us was squad leader with 6 under command. After the first battle it took way too long to issue commands to each AI to tell them to get ammo for their weapons from the dead. A scrounge command given to all or just one would be very nice indeed. We felt like yelling at our monitors, "Get ammo quick and lets move out" but we didn't because umm...that would have been pointless - ya know...to yell at our monitors. Thanks for the support. Yeah. Perhaps having it tied to skill level AND a command would be the way to go BUT I dont think that the AI can handle any more adjustments, not to slam BIS. But if you look at the AI now, it is just plain stupid. Soldiers fire three round bursts at you over huge distances, when under attack, nearby soldiers will stand around even though a battle is raging on just a hundred meters away, etc, etc. etc. Just a simple implementation in the form of an action menu command ought to do the trick. That way, in the thick of it, if you soldier says Ammo Low or Out og Ammo, you can give him the command to Scrounge when you deem it appropriate. ####, sometimes the AI causes your own team members to break formation and run ahead already. Unless BIS can really crank on the AI, just give me a menu option so I don't have to tell each soldier to pick up a clip; I can tell the whole squad to scrounge and be done with it.

If a rifle (ak47, etc) and a PK are fired at you from the same distance away, the rifle has a speed of sound effect, the PK does not. Can anyone else confirm this? Thanks, TeAcH

I saw BEL last night and it reminded me of OFP alot. Anyone else get that same feeling? The movie also illustrated the terrain in real life and what some of the shortcomings are in OFP. There needs to me more terrain differences besides trees and grass. There ought to be deadfall areas with lots of cover, grass (like that in Ghost Recon and Deadly Dozen), different terrain texturing, wheat fields, gravel, etc. Also, there really needs to be the addition of proper weapon sounds instead of same sound for Shilka, Vulcan, and helo guns if you ask me. I set the viewdistance in OFP on Malden to 2400 meters and played a tank battle. A couple of possible bugs popped up. 1) I was firing and hitting M1A1s at 1400 meters with my T80 and they never fired back. 2) I fired at T80s with my M2A2 Tows at 1500+ meters plus maintaining target lock the whole time and the TOWs kept falling short while the t80s advanced. Do these hit at those ranges for anyone?

Well I have them and they rock in some games and suck in others. Day of Defeat is downright breathtaking in 3D as is Panzer Elite. I havent tried it in OFP yet. Well, I have I just didnt have time to tweak it out so I put it on hold. Its NOT just a novelty!

I have the Elsa Geforce3 with my Audigy OEM (Gamer) and WIN98SE. DX 8 and a 1.4 gig Tbird running on v.107 bios Asus A7v133 board with Visa 4in1 4.34 final.

I DL-ed the new (11-27-01) driver for my Audigy (WIN98SE) and I think it has fixed the speed of sound issues for weapons in v1.30!!! Also, I think -THINK- the footsteps bug is gone too! Ill check and advise.

The new Audigy drivers released on 11-27-01 seems to have fixed the Speed of sound for weapons Hooray! Also, it may have fixed the footsteps bug too!! More testing then Ill report.

Is anyone getting a true speed of sound for rifle fire directed at you over distance? I am using the Audigy card.

Hmm. Don't know why it isnt working for me. I am using 98SE and an audigy card and a clean install of 1.30 What I'm talking about is this: watching soldiers fire at you over great distances and seeing their muzzle flash followed sometime later by the corresponding gunshot sound. I dont get that. Seems like although these soldiers are far enough away for me have that effect, it isnt working. I see the muzzle flash and hear the gunshot at the same time. What is confusing is that vehicles next to these firing soldiers do have the appropriate speed of sound delay when then explode (i.e. vehicle explodes then seconds later the explosion sound reaches me) I have tried it with HW accell both on and off...makes no difference. Any suggestions? BIS? Bueller?

I have noticed while hosting a 4 player and 3 player 1.30 MP game (Oil War scenario) that sometimes the T72 and BMP in that scenario will fire 2 or three rounds right in a row BAM BAM BAM. Like that. it doesnt happen all the time, but all of us have noticed it.

I don't like how the AI can use their psychic powers to determine that one of their own vehicles is being operated by the enemy and hence they open fire. d*amned Xray vision. You ought to be able to drive right around them until challenged on the radio or at a blockade. d*amn I hate that -
I have the Audigy and like it. It seems like a good step up from my Live! But, i still hear footsteps bug in OFP 1.30

I too have seen a form of this problem. While piloting my Kiowa, I hovered below the treeline of a forest. On the opposite side of the forest and COMPLETELY blocked from view, was a T80 who fired at me through the trees. Tracer fire coming right trough the forest itself. I practically had to land to get the t80 to cease firing on me. Wierd
