Really? A crosshair for a "realistic" sim?
teach replied to teach's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
True, but what about multiplayer? Is that a problem? And options aside, why is it even there to begin with? I know some people like it but what about turning it off by default? Is this some sort of Xbox360 thing? Still, I find it a reality killer that BIS has this in game...even if some folks like it. -
I brought her to LZ and fought off insurgents attacking in two MG equipped UAZ or cars or whatever. Funny thing is I later found her running through the woods but couldnt interact with her or capture her or anything and it still marked my mission off as completed.

NVIDIA video card(s) owners read here!
teach replied to Dwarden's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I recently found if I use render ahead of 8 and triple buffering with vsync on for my GTX275 in Arma 2, I actually get stable frame rates that dont dip or crash when looking various directions. -
I fixed this but I have a Razor Copperhead laser mouse and I set the resolution up to like 2000dpi. The mouse is very responsive in Windows (almost too sensitive) but just right in ARMA2. Without that setting, I get the mouse lag that everyone else gets and it really sucks. (EDIT) After using this for some time, this does NOT truly fix it afterall. Bummer. Still get bad mouse drift.

So your initial post didnt fix anyting after all? Your fix of going to 182.50 doesnt work? -
I still get the weird HDR bug. WHen I look at the ground, everything is as bright as one would expect for a sunny day (its actually how I wished it looked). However, when I looked up normally to see the horizon, it instantly gets darker somewhat like the sun moved behind a rain cloud. I sure wish there was a way to turn off HDR or fix this. Also, NV goggles at night show jet black people and terrain with light skyline until I look down at my feet then I get it to brighten up normally. Vista SP1RC1 8800 GT 169.25 driver Thanks

I have the HDR problem of everything being darker a little bit while playing but brighten up how I like it when I look at my feet. Is there a fix for this?

So I get the HDR problem of darker screens when I look around that brighten up when I look at my feet. Is there a fix? I use Vista SP1, Nvidia 169.25, and get it with both 1.08 and 1.11 Thanks.

AI soldiers (both friend and foe) need to yell and stuff during battle - like in Russian or English or something. In the Retaliation demo that was put out by one group, they have triggers of soldiers shouting and such during battle - neat stuff. Where's that? And one more thing, where's the sound for going through bushes?

C'Mon BIS, where's the scrounge command. For a game that has to do with gathering weapons from dead soldiers, seems like you all should have added a "SCROUNGE" command with subcommands/submenus like, "GATHER MGs", "GATHER RPGs", "GATHER AMMO" etc etc etc. Where all teammates would get busy. Issuing these orders one at a time is, well, idiotic. Seems not only ridiculous to me but blows some of the sense of immersion in the game when your AI mates just stand around with their thumbs up their asses when they know what the overall mission is (kill guys and take their stuff!. And while I'm at it, these AI soldiers (both friend and foe) need to yell and stuff during battle - like in Russian or English or something. Man, how about adding the occasional surrendering soldier or disabled tank crew BIS? You know, a model that drops his weapon, raises his hands in the air and stands up (or walks towards you - hands raised)? Then you add new commands RESTRAIN PRISONER or COVER PRISONER and a soldier stays to cover someone or the prisoner is bound and left at a location. Of course there will be the player who takes no prisoners and shoots everyone - thats cool. But this needs to be considered for a patch. It sure would do a lot to break the AI out of the mold of drones and add a little character to them. ####, Id even like to see the soldiers shout more or wail after being wounded. My two cents: I have young kids who get into everything and sometimes I find my CD cases rifled through and the CDs all over the place. Id copy my OFP if I had the chance. I copied my Combat Mission www.battlefront.com)'>(www.battlefront.com) CD and it saved me when it got cracked by a kid who stepped on it.

Yup! Way to go BIS! Thanks for the PROMPT fix.

<---waiting like everyone else for this Soundpack mod. The orig sounds in OFP werent that bad but they could have been WAY better.

BTW, Avon lady your FAQ is a great service to OFP players around the world. Thank you very much for it. Im surprised BIS doesnt have something similar. Keep up the great work, TeAcH -
FIXED! I did a complete reinstall from CD to 1.2 to 1.3 then to 1.4 and all is well.

Anyone else see this?

When you designate a trooper to enter a truck, the game calls it a CAR. Anyone else see this?

Kinda says it all doesn't it. I also think this is not new but just something that I have wanted to post for awhile. Why do hand grenades explode on contact rather than after a delay? If you toss one off a cliff, it wont explode until it hits the ground. If you toss one and it hits a wall 1 foot from you...it instantly explodes.

While walking towards a town on foot at night, the lighted street lamp could be seen through the hillside.

I have it too...the BMP problem that is (v1.30). But overall the AI is not realistic enough when left to its own devices. I really lose the immersion factor when I see the AI acting poorly. (Edited by TeAcH at 11:52 pm on Dec. 10, 2001)
