Create new task after completing previous task
SwiftyBoy posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
Hi all How do you go about "revealing" the next task in the briefing screen after the previous task has been completed? I've a simple scenario where the player is searching for a witness to a crime. The first task is to go to her house. This shows up in the map/briefing screen fine, along with the diary notes etc. Unfortunately for the player, she's not there, so the player is directed to look in the centre of town for her. Once the first task is complete, up pops the hint "Task 1 completed", so far so good, I've got this far, but... what I want to happen now is for the second task (already defined in the briefing.sqf) to now appear on the map/briefing screen. What do I need to put in the trigger for the completion of task1 to make the next task appear in the map/briefing screen? At the moment, BOTH tasks are in the briefing screen, and I only want the first one to be there until it's completed, at which point the player gets the message "New task assigned" and lo and behold, there is the next task in the briefing screen. PS I have been scouring these forums for days trying to find an answer to this specific query, without success. -
if this execVM camera.sqf [YouTube] then txt2 = text "shit shit shit the trainee video edit monkey's uploaded the wrong clip shit shit shit" then this addeventhandler ["monkey fired"]

Shoadows at distance problem needs to be fixed in arma 3.

Agreed. If they're working on "picture in picture" for vehicle wing mirrors etc, it'd be an obvious thing to apply this to weapon scope views as well, surely? -
Re. interface: I’d like the ability to set a series of attack lines/behaviours using the map on the fly, in a much more intuitive way than presently. Use the right-click function of the mouse to bring up a set of orders while in the map to plot FUPs/target/issue orders etc. So... I’d have my section standing ready at the start of the mission. I’d access the map, quickly highlight the target (in a way my friendly AI understood), draw up lines of approach with combat stances assigned, give the “Go†order when done, and then let ‘em rip. I know stuff like this is sort of possible in the map (creating waypoints on the fly), but I’d love to see much more use of the right mouse button in assigning stance/engagement/reaction levels while in the map.

Err... we all know it's based on the Greek island of Lemnos, right?
-
Yeah, I was thinking that - a re-tooled OFP using ArmA2 tech. But you're forgetting about "Persia", China, ASTUTE and Miller.
-
LOL. KoÄka means "cat" in Czech - very appropriate for a "Persian" insider, no?
-
The numbers add up to “24†– so we’ve only got 24 hours to wait! (This may not necessarily be true).
-
From the AAN report today.
-
Roger that, mate. It's been a long while since I played Flashpoint. Right - OK, I was idly speculating that the numbers, when converted into binary, might give up an IP address when converted back from binary. Unfortunately, they don't.
-
From the questions on AAN: Genuine spelling mistake? Shouldn’t it be Nogova (as in the following question)? For the 100th time, I may of course be reading too much into this.

My first thought on seeing the word “senary†was “Diceware†(you know, “11356†for “airfield†etc) – but having looked at the number strings, there’s no “zero†in diceware list, so these can’t be encoded words. That said, they may be passwords/logins for something?

What if the clues we have point to e.g. separate but related announcements i.e. 1. A new improved game engine (“ball smashes wallâ€) 2. The protagonists (“Persiansâ€/â€Chineseâ€) 3. The campaign/DLC (“The Planâ€, “Millerâ€, “Draft this guyâ€, “ASTUTEâ€) 4. The new “world†to play in (“Greek/Lefkas/Maldenâ€) 5. The theme (“Freedom fightersâ€) I can’t access armaenigma from work so what else is there?

This all reminds me of the ION-Inc/PMC stuff from last year. I guess that date is fast approaching, eh?
-
There's no reason to believe it's going 3D.

Yeah, I meant they'd maybe not reckoned with someone making the leap and trying the ftp site. But who knows? I'm at a dead end with all of this. No idea what it's supposed to be leading up to.
-
I'm not convinced we were ever meant to "see" this site - my guess is that the password(s) will be entirely unrelated to the game at hand. And of course, we have to remember that BIS are fully aware of this discussion...
-
OK, as you can see I'm obviously no techie. Scratch that then. Cheers for the explanation mate.

Anyone fancy setting up a packet analyser on ftp://p8h8.info? Although I imagine most of the traffic would be users of this thread trying to hack into it...
-
Any way of finding out who registered p8h8.info (if the domain was registered)? Just out of curiosity really, I'd be amazed if it led anywhere other than BIS...
-
Beat me to it, I was just about to say MDT or CST!

220-Local time is now 06:28. Is that your local time when you took the screengrab, or is that local to the server?
-
Maybe it is, I dunno... damn, I think we’re in danger of a “2 + 2 = 1,821†situation here. Who'd be a spook?
-
That can't be a coincidence, surely? PS http://www.wsws.org/articles/2009/jun2009/mcch-j12.shtml General Scott Miller, now.

ftp://p8h8.info/ In case no one's tried it, "Miller" as the user name, and his longform birthdate/time 221155ZJUN92 doesn't log you on. I've completely lost track of all the other possible user names we could use ("Barel", "r3dp3ga5u5" or whatever, and I can't access armaenigma at work...
