First of all, I for one have not had a single issue with any patch or securom issues. Knock on wood. But I have a squad buddy of mine who has been pulling his hair out over this issue. He purchased the Atari digital download version and ofcourse ran into immediate issues with the 1.07 beta and all that has followed with 1.08. I am one that is very XP and PC savy and usually when anything goes wrong on someone's PC, my squad buddies turn to me for a resolution. Well this one has stumped me. My first question for him was obviously drive emulation related being that he had Alcohol120 installed at one point. But we've gone thru every song and dance to remove that issue. For that matter we've gone thru every single possible fix in the Troubleshooting thread regarding this issue including the securom patches. NOTHING!!! Well last night he (Ripper_GFA) decided to give a clean install one more time. Yet this time, for Schizzengiggles (for you Beerfest fans), he decided to stop at 1.06 and try to see if he can atleast run 1.06 to play some single player. Well, that's where it got real interesting being that even 1.06 wouldn't startup now. So after a long winded discertation, here's the answer. Instead of trying to use his XP username to start the game which Arma automatically configures if you install for multiple users, he tried using his fiances username. BAM it started up. He then proceeded to install the 1.08 while still using his fiances username. Held his breath and tried to start the game with 1.08 and..........BAM it started up no problems. At this point he went on to create a new in-game user that was slightly different then the previous username. So as I see if, the first thing you would need to do is make sure there are 2 usernames for your XP or Vista machine. Just make a phantom user. You don't need to log into this account, just create it for Arma to see when you install the game. Once the game is installed. Make sure to use the phantom account name first, then install 1.08. At this point you should be able to run the game under 1.08. Worst case you could actual log into the phantom account in XP/Vista and install the game for that single user and just use this XP login to play Arma. So bottom line it appears the securom issue is XP/Vista user login name specific. I am pretty sure I've relayed this information correctly, but I will have Ripper add any input once I get in touch with him today. Good luck gents. Oh, and I'm running 1.07 with hotfix for whats its worth. But problem appears to be both with retail 1.06 and 1.07

I purchased Arma the day it was released in US. I never played OFP so this may be something that has long beed addressed or already addressed on the forum (although I searched for days). But I'm having problems with the game even recognizing all my base DX buttons let alone all the hatswitches. I mean once you click on an item to assign a key, I don't even see the DX buttons as an option on the right hand menu options. And if I just try and click the button to assign, it either does absolutely nothing or it acts like the tab key and pans through different menus/buttons on the screen. Now I know someone is going to tell me to just use the SST software to program the default key commands to buttons on my joystick. But one, I shouldn't have to do this for a DX compatible game, and two, I've already tried it and all I get are conflicts with the programmed button also still triggering the default command for that button. I'm about to pull my hair out. Is there any way to hack the config to recognize all the buttons on the joystick or any way to get around this issue. This is the only game that I've ever had this problem. Other than that, I'm addicted. I'm an Arma junky. But man would I like to be able to use my joystick fully. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
