I would like to introduce an addon that Le Culto and Johnson of the Blackwater France team have made: The A2T! Arma2Ts first release Version 003 (teamspeak 3 beta 1 to 17) Version 004a (teamspeak 3 beta 18 19) Version 006 (teamspeak 3 beta 20) Version 008 (teamspeak 3 beta 21) Last update : 2010-06-03 13:21:00 GMT+2 Version : 008 ------------- What is it ? It is an addon that allows Arma 2 to communicate with Teamspeak 3 to simulate realistic communications. ------------- Here is the features list : 3D sound with everybody around you (friendly and ennemy) Management of the power of voice (wishpering, talking, yelling) Radio communications short range and long range device management of 300000 frequencies realistic radio use (transmitting OR receiving, not both in the same time) Possibilities of electronic warfare goniometer possibilities of scanning frequencies ------------- What you need : 1) Arma 2 2) Teamspeak 3 client for windows (64bits or 32bits) 3) ACE mod (for long range radio device) 4) A little patience to configure the 3 keys needed ------------- What you have to do : 1) Download the addon 2) Extract the @a2t folder in your Arma base path. 3) Extract the TeamSpeak folder content in your Teamspeak 3 client plugins folder. 4) Activate the VOIP Arma 2 in your teamspeak 3 interface. 5) Launch Arma2 with @a2t mod (CBA and ACE needed !). 6) Configure 3 key wich are : User Defined Keys User1 : activate/deactivate long range radio User Defined Keys User2 : activate/deactivate short range radio User Defined Keys User3 : switching whishpering/talking/yelling mod !UPDATED! I advise you to first remove all configured key in these 3 useless actions. And then to configure the 3 keys... 7) Join any multiplayer session. 8) Enjoy ! 2 videos from TFBlackjack ------------- What you can do : You can modify/sell/make love with this addon without asking permission to anyone ! BUT, if you bring any interesting modification, we ask you to release you work with open source rules ! You can unpack the PBO with any PBO extractor. The C++ source code for teamspeak is in arma2ts_b0.5.zip ------------- What would be great : If you know how to add some DLL in the Arma process (like Kegety's did in Armalib for Arma AA) just do it ! The goal is obviously to use a clean pipe instead of windows clipboard... An other big improvement would be to attach frequencies to radio instead of attaching frequencies to soldiers... The goal is here to allow someone to steal a radio with setup on a dead body (enemy or not ) www.blackwater.fr

    You can't be 100% sure but just set the variable bwf_debug to true after the mission start. Then the script will spam you with ugly message saying who got the addon and who doesn't.

    Waiting impatiently for your work Rommel :) We tough about that but we decided to not try. By playing with this kind of feature, you take the risk of puting a terrible mess in the game. Audio feedback loop, very expensive for processor, and hard to build :p

    I noticed this kind of problem since the first time i played Arma 2. The sound start at the right position and then does'nt follow your head mouvement. I don't know where it comes from but i'm not sure our addon has a matter with this. (but with the addon, you turn your head far more often than before, maybe the reason you noticed the problem ?) New version is up (02), with new features in teamspeak plugin, a doc and ACE recent vehicle management. If you download this new version, you have to update arma AND teamspeak side.

    We tried to implements the push to talk feature... But there were too many trouble (70% people were exepriencing crash, freeze, and other trouble). It seems that it comes from a conflict with ACE, but i'm sure ACE could handle that :).

    By setting variable bwf_debug at true you will get some flooding and annoying debug informations. Put : bwf_debug=!bwf_debug; in a trigger radio to be abble to switch in debug mod. Then you will (maybe :p) see where the probleme is.

    I understand that 500 meter is not enough. But, for gameplay reason, i believe that going over 1000m for the short range radio is a mistake. (to make long range radio usefull) In real world, short range radio certainly transmit over 1000 m but in real world, HQ is not located at 1000m from fireteam. New version with 1000 m for short range and the ACE_PRC119 is supported is uploaded. For the stereo sound, we used the 3D sound feature. If the sound is only stereo, i'm not sure we can do better... It's a teamspeak limitation.

    Copy/paste is not a bug :) The main process is actually using the windows clipboard. If you look at the picture i posted in the first page, you will see two little sign about this point.

    Yes client side only ! What server is having trouble ? Arma or TS ?

    Server crash ? Did you put the addon on the server ?

    Uhh Be carefull ! Every player have to be in the same channel in teamspeak to get this addon work ! If you disptach your team around multiple channel, you won't be able to hear them. The wishper teamspeak functionnality is not used. All the work is done by the 3D placement feature.

    Arma need to speak with TS (maybe with rpt) But teamspeak need also to speak with arma. (to send the player teamspeak id) (here the rpt is useless as far as i know)

    Ah ! We actually didn't test with IA... It works fine with respawn type camp. Arma2 multiplayer behaviour is very strange. I understand this bug... I'll see what i can do... Ah ! Never heared about that ! Thanks edit : It's done ! You can get the new version at the same link, UserAction1 for long range, UserAction2 for short range, and UserAction 3 for switching voice mod.

    I DID BUILD INTERFACE MY SELF ! :p But, if we admit that their is a possibility to do better than me, i would be happy to get a nice interface :D "Any chance of a ACE-free version?" Of course, just 1 line to update in the config.cpp But without radio in the back as in ACE this is not the same...

    We tried to make a video to present, but i'm definetly not a video maker... I don't even know how to redefine width and height... If download 3.9 Go for 1.30 min, i can upload :D. But if you wish, i explain on our teamspeak 3 server how it works... 10 minutes garrantee if you know anything about clicking :p (and understand english spoken by a french guy...)
