ParameterPoor FPS with a HD4870, Q4 Phenom 9950
Sceaduwe replied to DutchNeon's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
The same thing is also happening with the some newer processors and nvidia newer graphics cards, it's not just limited to ATI's cards. A friend of mine reports about the same performance (8-12fps - using fraps), not in big cities but in open areas with not alot of objects around him. Friends system is: Windows Vista - 64 Bit (All updated) Intel Q6600 @ 2.4Ghz. Nvidia GTX295 - Latest Drivers Asus P5K 8GB's Ram We've been through the crysis profile swapping, turning off windows searching, fiddling with all options in game and out.Any other suggestions are very welcome. Sceaduwe. -
Having the same problem, but with vista and BSOD (thought this was meant to be a thing of the past with vista, what gives?!?) - Ha10kx2k.sys problem which when traced down is the creative drivers. Seems really intermittent at the moment.

Stop your winning, I too have a 8800 card - I too have some graphical issues - I don't come on the forums and just start being a mouthy idiot. Â I am sure the developers are working hard on it and hopefully they will release a patch to correct the issue, if not this one then in another one. You might want to try lowering your in game settings (yes, you shouldn't have to... yada yada..) which should help and try the -maxmem=512 solution some people have talked about. The most important point to remember is that this bug has been logged on the Arma bug reporting system (http://bugs.armed-assault.net/main_page.php) and you can read about it and vote for it to be fixed there.

From early indications, I can't really tell if the commandline switch is doing anything, it could be  When I have a bit more free time I'll experiment with it, take it out and load ArmA up and do some tests. Then put it back in and do some tests and get back to you. I have gone back and noticed that we don't have a 'c:\documents and settings\username\arma' directory - it must be a server only installation. Anyways, the switch must be doing something as it's references the arma file and without it - it seems worse. All I know is that it seems to be reading the ArmA.cfg file. The 'MaxSizeNonguaranteed=64;' line has helped alot. I would have thought the more the better. Anyways, thanks guys for all the help.
-
Okay -- thanks guys. I'll try the config option and see if it works and get back to you. I'll also try the MaxSizeNonguaranteed suggestion to set it to 64 and see if it improves.
-
Thanks for the response at the time it seemed the logical place to put it. Â However, a couple of quick questions: 1. I don't have an arma.cfg on the box, does it need to be created? 2. If so will the server use it automatically? 3. I am assuming it needs to go into the root of the ArmA folder, the same as the server.cfg file.
-
Yep, I have a mission on the box called 'sniper' and it's warping the AI in that one too. 'Warcry' is warping. Â 'Blackhawk Down' is warping. To answer your post specifically, does it warp with just one AI? I don't know, I would think so.
-
We have a dedicated box but the AI is warping about 5 feet whilst running and moving about. I have tried to increase the MaxSizeNonguarenteed statement in the server.cfg file to triple it's norm, but still no smooth AI. Is there something I am overlooking. The box itself is a P4 with 1Gb of memory and connected to a 10Mb connection. MaxMsgSend = 512; MinBandwidth = 1536000; MaxSizeNonguaranteed=768; Any would be appreciated.

Cheers for this, yep that was explained well enough for me to understand, it needs a bit of scripting to be able to use the new weapons and stuff - was wondering where all the new stuff was located. Hope they include this in the MP / SP missions at some point. Had a blast on the bikes too they were great fun.
-
Okay, but where are the US special weapons crates? I searched in the MP and in the missions and still no crates? Is there a definative mission / in the campaign that you can find these crates. The same applies to the bikes. So far though loving it.

Sorry to bump the thread yet again -- problem has been solved by installing new nvidia drivers, 97.92 fixed all issues to do with flickering or yellow textures appearing in the game. -

Nope turned everything to low which didn't make a lot of difference to the problem that I am having. I am still perplexed as to how it was running normally (no flickering problems) in demo build 5110 to flickering problems in 5116? -

Same problem with the Demo (after the 5116 Patch - before it was fine) - Flickering textures (especially the sky). Â In game weapons models don't have their skin (so they look like toy soldier weapons).
