  1. Your TS and the amount of players on it count as bandwidth and may hurt games. We run a Ventrilo with high codecs but had to put it on our 2nd server due to...over 10 on coms would lag the game servers. Standard codecs would let about 30+ on coms before lag started.

    But we are on an older dual(proc, not cores) Amd 2800, 2 gig ram.

  2. Still, even without any specific optimization on our side, thanks to the optimization done by both nVidia and ATI in the drivers, you can see a measurable performance gain in ArmA (my measurements have shown 5-20 % improvement depending on the scene).

    Got me drueling huh.gif

  3. AllShotUp @ Jan. 09 2007,01:15)]We used Server Beach a couple years ago, great people but we did experiance lag even with a 100mbps port out just running BF42/DC however the best location we found with them was to have our server in VA, since it helped the people here in the US and Europe the best.

    Since that time, they built DataCenter2 which qualified for direct to Peer1 and skipping the Cisco networks. That alone dropped 4-6 hops to every member of our group.

    They have several DataCenters, but most arer for web hosting..i,e L.A./Dallas/ Virginia #1 datacenters.

    You would be suprised at the larger companies that rent from SB. They do not support gaming, just the boxes on their fat pipe. At 1 point, I was going for a 2nd box in L.A. for my guys on the west coast, but I was refered back to Datacenter2 for gaming.

    CouchMonkey....

    Since you have 4 cores, have you tried to pin ArmA to 2 of them and pin other apps to the others?

  4. I was disappointed after purchasing the 100mbit port(just $25), just to find out they meter them to only keep a connection alive when ALOT of players join. Even though your server box is elite, it doesn't help. My provider, Server Beach, want's $1300 per month to unmeter the port, which would run any game, any amount of players! Our backbone is dual oc48 direct to Peer1. I've ran many test on a few rental boxes for performance/speeds, here is an example:

    I ran this test (all game servers closed) to a local test site (blocks away) which gave over 9800kbps up, but the real test was from Virgina to Texas which gives a better "actual" speed-Results

    When I have the 5 different games running (RvS & OFP) and say, 40 players in RvS, and 10 or so in OFP, those test #'s will be several thousand less! If I were to purchase the unmetered port...the test would show the higher kbps, as if the games were not running, and no one would ever say "lag" from the servers when they are all full.

  5. Hints=

    I have Sprockets CZ version 1.01.

    My ctd's come after several video setting changes in sequence!

    Once, seconds after minimizing and bringing game back up, but I believe running lower res (desktop 1280x1024.. game 800x600) caused that 1.

    I have played for well over 7 hrs many times, no ctd's, just good gaming, now that I have permanent game settings on a low end pc.

    Specs, AMD64 +3000 (2000mhz)

    1.5gig DDR 3500

    Asylum FX-5900

    Onboard Sound

    XP-SP2

  6. Hi bulgy,

    For now file checks are done in servers confiq's to compare server vs players. It takes an in game admin to catch and ban. There is something called OFPSentry and their updating it for ArmA (hopefully soon) but doesn't compare to the usefullness of AMBL and PsB tools.

    But no PB. I also questioned EB & PsB prior to the release of ArmA.

    So pull some more of those PsB Staff into playing this game.

  7. We really do need someone to take over this.

    Whether it be OFPWatch or what ever, an auto addon download manager really saved OFP.

    Everyone think back.. before OFPWatch.... nuff said? banghead.gif

    I lost count of how many in our group gave up..when we said... "Go Here.. Get This... Put it HERE".

    OFPWatch has gained a great reputation, along with Kegety's!! The future ArmA will need this prog~ or similar to keep the community informed, and active!! The mods will grow just as OFP mods did!!

  8. Actually it say's "Remote". I was wondering if your putting your lan ip in, it should start 192.168.1.(last is lan assigned#) if your using windows home networking. If your using a router networking from your isp....the host lan ip may be different. The router itself may need to be setup to allow the lan party connections.

    If you look in your "My Connections" and double click the connection to the internet, then support tab, it should show the "lan ip".

  9. Thats funny Placebo rofl.gif

    CDN has finally got his game..we are still thinking it was securities in his isp/modem, he ended up dnlding at work.!

    We still have the member "that didn't sign up at Sprocket till after the purchase"...so he has decided to retry with another purchase if support doesn't get him fixed.

    We have our server up for testing, and basically a big thanks to your team for putting up with ours/everyone's lack of patience. The game is well worth it, and I'm looking forward to more hard work from you/BiS/Idea/ ect ect.

    Don

  10. Hi,

    I've got a problem where the server drops of the server list after the server is busy for a period of time.

    Only fix I've found is to restart the server.

    Here is my config file:

    <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">passwordAdmin = foobar;

    hostname = "Whatever";

    voteThreshold=0.3;

    voteMissionPlayers=1;

    reportingIP=207.38.11.34;

    This happens with and without the reportingIP specified. I've noticed this happens more with user made maps.

    Any Ideas?

    reportingIP=master.gamespy.com;
