in short ... improve Your knowledge on subject before tossing out comments ...

It is funny that you would say that to someone, yet you continuously promote PunkBuster which has already been defeated in other games.

PB has it's limitations...........but, other tools available thru their program (behind the scene sorta way) ..does infact offer us tools that would do a hell of alot more than whats being done NOW, that would give ALL admins private bans to add.

If we could get Omnix (a PsB admin) to include ArmA to his private AliasFinder....idiots like the KFC kiddie club, wouldn't stand a chance.

  2. I'm using 64bit Vista.

with 158.24 whql drivers, I was able to use 4x1 gig mem, but sli wouldn't work for ArmA.

I'm now using 163.44beta b/c sli works, but had to disable half of my memory...or mine would load as yours (I believe if you waited long enough, a distorted screen will eventually appear).Sample

I'm waiting on Nvidia to get both 4gig memory and sli to work together.

  3. I already improved the map with extra locations, rearm boxes, zombie fire allergy and some smaller things. Download link's been updated.

This map sounds really fun, and looking forward to trying after work tonight.

Quote[/b] ]And here is the download link for beta testing:

    Zombies! 0.95

    Is that the latest version?

  4. I believe my 1st post in this thread really got to ethne.

Maybe his ArmA isn't playing so well on his pc?

This thread could have been altered with some proper chioces in the poll..or just locked.

My main reason for going with AMD instead of Intel's largest at that point...was the FACT: If a cpu were to crap out on me...I can keep running on 1cpu. With Intel, there would be downtime waiting for the replacement, and the cost (if it were to be my fault) would be less than half of the over priced Intel. Don't get me wrong, I have built some really sweet Intel's...but the cost run several hundred more, due to cpu & memory.

I have met many of the largest Intel's out there...and my sig is about the only way I will find if there is a quad Intel...that you could throw together/ turn it on, and get a better score.

Actually, I'm looking forward to it. The major amount of pc users, do not waste time overclocking.

So I'll get back on topic.

The only issues with ArmA, is the AI bugs, which are no big deal. Play some of the SimHQ missions..they kept it simple and fun and the AI's are competitive.

Other issues are not BIS fault, I've proved them to be driver related bugs.

  5. With 158.24 drivers, SLI only worked in my games like NFSMW, FS10 AND GTI Racing ect, most the older games would have major issues w/sli. OFP has never had a problem w/SLI being enabled, but the sli indicators do not appear in that game, so I dought sli works in it, even though it's profile says "Nvidia recommended SLI".

I also want to run 8 gig of memory..but not until someone gets some 2gig sticks that work properly. (My MB holds 4x2gig)

I've been testing this pc and Vista so much since Feb...that I almost gave up until 163.44...and things can only get better now.

I do not like having to cut my memory in half either...but for now it does help ArmA, and I really do not see any loss if I'm only using a com (Ventrilo) and playing ArmA...even while running a server as a service, and your quad setup shouldn't either.

Also...as far as CTD's in games....ArmA has been the only 1 that I had those with...but tweaks like -maxmem=512 stopped them while using drivers before 163.44 .

I do believe your memory and SLI issue..is due to the 32 bit version.I believe it takes XP64, Vista64 or a Windows server OS, to utilize memory over 3.5. I have no idea about Linux anymore.

  6. You've edited your post 4-5 times since I left this morning, and now I'm amazed at your rant, ethne.

What part of the words "stock", "Vista64" & "3dmark06" are you unable to get into your thick skull?

You win ok...I've edited my sig..just for you.

    Now maybe you will stfu!

  7. Wow! This hotfix and the beta nvidia driver (163.44 for vista 32 bit for my 8800gtx) improved my performance from 30 fps to 70fps!! Thanks a lot for this guys!

It's like getting a new game ehh?

I'm taking a weeks vaca this week, so I can put another multi days test in. We played several missions last nite (about 5+hrs)..and all these hotfixes/new drivers have made me a happy man now that SLI is working as it should w/ArmA.

  8. I take it your using Vista 32bit?

    That would change things.

You should be able to tell any game profile (NV CP) to use 1 GPU. Most of my profiles are set to "Use SLI" after installing video drivers.

I've yet to try reinstalling 158.24, to see if I get the SLI option back for the ArmA profile after installing 163.44.

I did disable it while using 158.24 .

For now...I'm tickled with the way ArmA is playing.

edit=..btw...once I set a profile to use 1 gpu...the only way to get the sli option back..is to reinstall the drivers, but this doesn't apply with 163.44...ArmA profile remains "single gpu".

  9. I personally need a 3rd option in this poll.

Chioce= I love my ArmA..Hurry up and give me more!!

And this is coming from the underdog..a Vista 64bit user. wink_o.gif

No offense dude but your 3Dmark score is weak for an SLI rig. I get 11.5K with one GTX. Probably best to stop bragging in your sig.

    Cheers

    E

PS : I think announcing ArmA 2 when ArmA is in it's current state is a little bit insulting. I personally wont be supporting BIS anymore. Im actually considering reinstalling Flashpoint.

    sad_o.gif

    [stops bragging]

    OT sir,

But you should PM me your score...if your running Vista 64 bit

And my score will stay on top of "STOCK" Vista 64, untill Intel produces a faster product.

Intel can easily overclock and slaughter me, since I do not want to void my warranty.

    [continues bragging/]

    Sorry moderators...he had it coming!

  10. This is nothing new.

It's your 4 gig memory and new nividia drivers.

With 163.44 beta, I had to disable "Memory Hole Remapping" inside my bios, so it looks like only 2 gigs of memory are used, or my game would load just as yours does. Some will just pull 2 sticks of memory.

158.24 WHQL did not have this issue....but SLI would fall apart quickly w/ArmA.

Also, with 158.24... I had to add the -maxmem=512. It is not needed with 163.44 .

Nividia drivers have come a long way since Feb, and surely the "4gig" problem will be fixed soon.

Try it, and see if it helps.

EDIT= Also check your game profiles with Ntune or the Nvidia CP....I did not get the sli option with ArmA profile..so I renamed arma.exe to FEAR.exe, and yes...sli is beautiful.

  11. UPDATE:

With newest nvidia drivers, I can now play at my native res of 2560x1600 with SLI enabled.

Most settings set to high-very high

VD=6000 <--With the fog issue...this doesn't change much at any higher setting.

    PP=Low

I knew it wasn't ArmA's fault for the earlier problems.
