I've been waiting to get a 5+ hr test @2560x1600 & SLI, now that I have, it seems these drivers (163.44beta) & the few MS hotfixes are getting things smoothed out. Thats Awesome. Once again, this is from a Vista user.

Once you get it setup, we can pin point issues. 1 I see you may have= 158.24 nvidia drivers worked allmost best for me, but sli would fall apart quickly...and 4 gig mem didn't matter. I had to use -maxmem=512 tweak. The latest drivers (163.44beta), has changed things, now i have do disable "Memory Hole Remapping" in bios, to make it look like there is only 2 gigs...some will just pull 2 sticks. But, now I can run without the -maxmem, and sli is really sweet if I change arma.exe to FEAR.exe....... for some reason, I don't get sli option for the ArmA profile. Other things that can help you, either get prepared to have to allow everything to run as administrator each time you install something, or disable UAC (User Account Control). If your going to be the only user..I would disable it. The directories look alot different in Vista, so be prepared, and not to get frustrated. Also, is it 32bit or 64bit Vista? Mine is 64, and that may play a big part of the "video" issue I mentioned.

easier wayt to verify someone is cheating ... that's million dollars wish would You like to see game improvements or BIS spend 12 months just on anticheat solutions ? You can't try reinvent wheel w/o either huge staff, time and $ This is where PB can generate money, to do so. Them little tools like team tag registrations (someone mentioned name banning/kicking elsewhere), and generally community support. Even though most will say it's "intrusive", we do know it's affective over the long term.

With each new driver from Nvidia, I'm just simply testing all options. With 163.44 beta, I'm now able to remove the -maxmem=512, and now able to run at my native res of 2560x1600. My game 1st loaded up as the TS, with 163.44, but disabling memory hole remapping or 4gig down to 2gig, has it playing very nicely. SLI isn't an option for the ArmA profile, which I renamed arma.exe to FEAR.exe so I could test SLI, which infact is working, and the sli load bars stay well above it's halfway mark. I have not done a 9 day test as before...yet..but have gone a few hours with no problems. This is the 1st driver that has let my sli run w/ArmA without the acid screens after 5 mins of playing. I still blame Nvidia and not Vista for the graphic issues from before...it's to simple...things are getting better with Nvidia drivers, without any ArmA patches/hotfixes. -
Someone emailed this to me..and thought I should share.

163.44 beta drivers work, SLI works (but had to rename arma.exe to FEAR.exe for NCP profiles). TrackIR4 Pro works......with Vista64... I'll be back....I need a cold shower right now. Â
-
I've yet to need any support, that I didn't find at their forums with simple searching, Â but I will repeat..This is a must have gaming adapter,,just as simple as a mouse & keyboard are. I am now looking to purchase stock in them.

I personally need a 3rd option in this poll. Chioce= I love my ArmA..Hurry up and give me more!! And this is coming from the underdog..a Vista 64bit user.

Reality would not fit in a game like this. Abrams would simply take their targets out upon spawning.

I hope this time around...ArmA2 and QC doesn't take 6-8 months to reach the US after it's release. There is no way I will go through the Sprocket dilema's again. I'm looking forward to the new expansion/s and Arma2.

Won't work with 4 gigs of memory?
SWAT_BigBear replied to bigb792001's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
With 163.44 drivers, my ArmA did the same as bigb792001, I went into memory controls in bios, and disabled "Memory Hole Remapping", and it will load properly. (This would be the 4gig memory issue) and much easier than removing sticks. Sad part= the new drivers will not enable SLI in the Arma Profile of Ntune. It's just not an option anymore, so I can not test SLI. I've yet to decide to go back to 158.24, I want to test the game and video options with 163.44, after work today. -
LMAO@ the tree top bringing the M1A1 to a complete stop. A few feet higher..and you would have cleared it. I've done this before, no altering of the game is needed. Once you break the speed barrier (airborn), only gravity or objects can slow you back down.

Actually, this would be really nice if TIR knew when a scope was used automatically. I know I ask for alot

Must say....it's well worth it. Took me an hour to find a proper profile...which was to delete all that came with it and create my own. It's working perfect on this pc w/Vista64. Smoking a cig can cause issues...lmao (infra red). Using TrackIR, now free's up 1 hand for those other fun things in life

Why should they...? This is a DX9 game and Vista user will be the absolute minority of gamers for the next 12 months to come. The only support I see needed...is from Nvidia and their 8800gtx drivers. The only game in my 4ft tall cd collection of games that keeps me coming back, is Operation Flashpoint, and thats over a 6 year time span. I to will be trying all the new dx10 games...but I bet ArmA keeps me coming back to it! So...now the "minority" gets to explore both sides.

Mike Melvin is redoing MFcti completely for ArmA. Source We just have to be patient now. Then everyone can work on individual cti's.
-
I can not blame BI at this point...since Nvidia can not give us proper drivers as of yet. I'm refering to Vista 64. Atleast I can play (several days), using -maxmem=512, and disabling sli in the ArmA profile (nvidia cp).
-
I wish I could call in sick from work today.....I tried using the TrackIR sickness...but the owners wouldn't fall for it. UPS can never get here early...it's always after 5pm. I will be toying around with it over the next few days.

You need to find which mods they have added to the server/s. I believe even sound mods will cause the red x.
