I hope this TS SDK stuff works out quick and well. I have a suggestion tho which i can't post on the dev heaven page since i can't login there. On the last exercise in my unit we discovered that the pilots had a hard time communicating over the net while there was some talking in the backseat. Now usually helicopter pilots are in a loud environment and i guess they would have a sound blocking headset, so they couldn't hear normal chatter in the back. Now comes the suggestion: A "headset" which works only when plugged in to the vehicle, which has the following features: Reduces the volume of "direct speech". Keeps the same loud volume for everybody wearing this headset in the vehicle, so you can easily communicate with your crew members through that headset. What do you think?

Reflection and distortion of the waves is one thing but i think he means that not the full spectrum of the voice is transmitted through radio. Also, would it be possible to differentiate between earsets, handsets and neither of them? For example it is hard to differentiate if you're being called over long or short range. Maybe the short range could only be heard in the left ear and the long range in the right ear. I believe that is a typical ear/handset setup :)

We're using Teamspeak 3 almost since the release. The quality and speed made it difficult to go back. Until the release of arma2ts it was a bitch tho. But this addon solved all our problems.

Hello there, hoppin by to congratulate you for this masterpiece which solves all voice comm Problems in ArmA. Well maybe except one thing: Would it be possible to add a key that allows switching the channels without opening the dialogue? The Problem is that pilots loose control of their aircrafts while trying to switch channels through the dialogue. What is your problem with the dll injection?

Excellent job. This solves all our comm problems :) The only thing i'd miss right now is increasing static noise the further away you are. So that the connection does not suddenly break off at 500m. That would be awesome.

Oh yeah! And also make my pc strong enough to cope with that! :D -
Of course they can deal with a 6 digit coordinate. But say you want to hit a building/tank/relatively small target a 6 digit coordinate isn't going to cut it. Except if you are willing and able to make the 100x100m look like a piece of Verdun during WWI.
-
Are you sure? Because the german page says: And from what i remember from school, this is correct. So 10km x 10 km = 100km².
-
Most (milsim) units/squads you will find operate with 8 digit coordinates. Only that they have to be guessed. This was very handy because in ArmA 1 the 6 digit grids used to be 200m by 200m which is very big for a landing point or impact grid ;) But i know NouberNou is working on a compass, it's maybe even the one you've shown. You can see it for a few frames in this vid at 0:05 ->

Lightning of ARMA 2 islands
Serclaes replied to Raunhofer's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : ADDONS - Configs & Scripting
Symbiot played around with the values in arma 1 and found out the meaning of a lot of values. Unfortunately all the formatting is gone fubar because of the migration. http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=69133&highlight=Lighting But be advised that you cannot adjust lighting on a per island basis. You need to overwrite DefaultLighting, which is very unfortunate. -
kju started and finished a project which he would never use and is not really interested in doing, as he stated in his first post. Then he blames others for the work he chose to do. Modding is not a chore, it should be fun. If you do not have fun modding then you should leave it, instead of hoping for some other altruic guys and being offended if they're not helping. There are modding teams who are devoted to their project because they have fun moddeling, coding and playing it. And these keep the modding community alive. Yea well, the thread starter made this part of the topic, not the posters.

Optionally you can do it because you have fun modelling/coding.

Very nice. How does it handle being on uneven ground? Can the player make adjustments to counter that? -

Oh yes, please allow us to end this torture. Every time i play i have to read those god awful translations done by some draft dodging retards. -
"Save the planet" is bullshit anyhow. The planet doesn't care if it's covered in water, ice or dust and i seriously doubt too that anything we do has an impact on the development of our planet (except maybe nuclear anihilation). Reducing pollution to a minimum is to save ourselves from diseases, sickness etc. We have the damn technology and even if we didn't it's great time to emphasize the research on that. I believe the problem is missing transparency. When stuff like artificial cheese or meat can be sold because most just buy what is cheap and good, there is something wrong. But i doubt people would buy artificial products if they knew, hence the missing transparency.

I believe he means the TopOwl system. ;)

The problem here is much less superficial than you think. This happened in the Qonduz (or however you spell it) area, where the germans are present with 800 troops, from which maybe 100 ever leave the base. The trucks were stuck about 6km from the base (air line that is). Now given that you cannot bring troops on site to: 1. Fight Because there where too many enemies for a pollitically passable firefight. 2. Spot for Arty rounds Because enemies would look around for them and hunt them down. As you may have noticed, it is extremely rare that german actions have (extensive) collateral damage. The action which the german commander decided to take, was certainly not the best but the last possible he had. Except of course for the one where the trucks would drive away and blow themselves up another time and another place in a crowd. Also, i heard other sources saying that villagers where very happy that the trucks have been blown up in a river bed instead of their market place.

This is something very human and not restricted to the internet. People tend to see their situation and only their perspective. It manifests in simple things like crossing the street on foot when the light just turned red. When you sit in the car and wait for the pedestrians to get off the street, you want to hit the gas when there's another one crossing when its already red. But you as pedestrian, you would have done the same. I can only advise you to do the stuff for yourself because you have fun doing it. If there is contructive criticism, use it. If not, leave it. No it doesn't. If i told you the weather in central europe tomorrow is going to be 30°C and sunshine, it would only indicate that i have no damn clue of what i am talking about. Same goes for most guys "critizising".

A.C.E. Advanced Combat Environment Mod 2
Serclaes replied to sickboy's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
After reading the features page i have some suggetions on the parachuting: Static line parachuting is the most common method of jumping out of an airplane. This simply means that the chute is hooked in on a metal cord in the airplane (the jumper has to hook in on command). The jumper then just jumps out of the door and the cord is pulls out the parachute without requiring the jumper to do anything. Parachute failure: It can happen that the parachute doesn't open or doesn't open properly. It's called "biscuit building" in german because the chute then looks like a biscuit :) But this may only happen to the T-10 (which is the most common chute). Have a look here -
What do you guys think about the ballistics? See 2:47 where the sniper hits the head, you can't see the projectile travel and the impact seems instant.

Yea i got that part already. I hoped for a persuasive argumentation which allows me to understand why it absolutely needs to be an SS guy instead of a Wehrmacht one. :)
