As the title says, SBS are looking for some friendly CTF action. We are a UK based squad, almost exclusively CTF and CQB orientated. If any teams fancy a tear up, you can either hit me up on here via pm or drop into our site found at, www.sbs-clan.co.uk Cheers. Delta

Hi John, I believe a few of us in SBS have the game and I am pretty sure we would be up for some scrims eventually, however we do not yet have a server, and as I am just back from an 18 month gaming sabbatical I am not sure where SBS stand on this yet, please feel free to drop into our forums for a chat about this. http://sbs-clan.co.uk/forum/forum.php

Battle for takistan huge pvp campaign
SBSDelta replied to Freerider117's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - MULTIPLAYER
Yeah nice initiative but, with no respawn at all a couple of clueless fuckwitts could in theory decimate your team in short order, for example flying a full chopper into the ground, teamkills via tank and heavy weapons etc, just by genuine player error without factoring in the asshattery that can take place in this game. I hope it goes well for you mate but as Dead Meat said i havent the time to devote to larger / longer battles of this type, and i would not use ACE just to play in this. I played IC in arma1 and whilst i enjoyed it, the larger battles and specific units working together ie infantry and armour, covered by air support, made for a refreshing change but, the strict chain of command and poor decision making by the top brass did lead to, at times a stagnantion of gameplay, and subsequently you could spend a large amount of time seeing no action at all, add to this no respawn and you can expect a lot of players to lose interest pretty quickly. Im not putting your idea down, but i am speaking from experience. Good Luck anyway -
ARMA 2: OA release candidate build 78473
SBSDelta replied to Dwarden's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
The game needs this in my opinion, the animations have been clunky since release, good job. -
Ok i have a graphics problem , in the form of a constant and extreme flickering, in game which makes it impossible to play. I have recently built a new pc and the specs are; Asus P5-NT Deluxe Twin 8800 GT in SLI Core 2 Duo @2.66 XFI Extreme Gamer 2gig Dominator Ram. I have tried about 6 different graphics drivers, and also tried playing the game in different resolutions with differing combinations in the settings all to no avail, the problem is constant and unplayable. Any help would be appreciated.

Im using XP, and triple buffering is on Â

Yeah v synch is off, guess ill have to keep messing about with it til i find a cure .

You can 'force off' post processing effects , via your graphics card interface, dont know which card you use so, for Radeon, ATI Tray tools by Ray Adams are useful, or if you are Nvidea, you can force pp off in the control panel.

That would be fine until some dick unloads 200 rounds from an M249 into you, i reckon you would become quite animated yourself for a while

yet another problem trying to play Arma...
SBSDelta replied to Swatman's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I would say Vista may have something to do with this, as ArmA has a lot of aggro with that system mate. Sorry i cant help more i run XP. -
PB if implemented would surely compromise the mods and modding community? My experience of PB is confined to BF2 and i only played that pile for a short time, but what i saw and heard of it PB was easily and contiually got around by hackers and the only thing it brought to the game was lag and a criminally long loading time. Well admined servers are probably the best option at the moment, sadly.

if you need to attack Frantic's map why do you play them all day long ? if he would not put such an effort in mapmaking, there would'nt even be 1 CTF Server. Attacking Frantic? How am i doing that please explain? If you are referring to my phrasing concerning the randomness of some of the building arrangement in some of the maps, then you are reading it wrong and also making false accusations. For the record if it wasnt for Frantic there wold not be a CQB/CTF scene at all in Arma, as mac said he has put the effort in and all credit to him. Now stop stirring shit, if you want to get into a discussion with me regarding my remarks about building alignment in some maps then feel free to pm me, dont try to derail a topic that needs all the help it can get at the moment, ie lack of CTF in Arma.
-
SBS have put together a map making team, and there are several maps in various states of development. The maps will be CTF medium to large sized and they will be working in tune with the environment, not against it, ie not a random lot of buildings dropped in an area. Hope to have the first one ready for beta on our server asap

I have an ATI1950 XT 512 prior to the patch my settings were on low and res was adjusted down to enable more fps, after the patch however i can now up my res and settings to allow a smoother lag free performance, nice work BIS , worth the wait imo.

After installing the 7.5 drivers then the hotfix, i was confronted by this message.. MOM.EXE has failed to initialise After searching for info on what MOM.EXE was i found there was a difference in opinion between those who thought it to be spyware and those that thought it was a harmless and normal part of the setup from ATI. Also i noticed that this update had installed the catalyst control centre on my machine even though i had opted for the driver only, as i use ATI Tray Tools, can anyone clarify whether or not this exe is malicious or not and also why the update insists on using the CCC, any info would be greatly appreciated.
-
Ah ok cheers for that mate, i assume that the NET 2.0 you are referring to is  the microsoft version and available in the windows update ? Edit nvm have got it , cheers for the info anyway

Bad idea, the rank system in BF2 is what attracted all the fucktards and point farmers, ArmA like OFP before it, will survive without a restrictive arcade type implementation like this. You want ranks, unlockable weapons etc, go buy BF2/2142.
-
As everyone is going down memory lane, i specifically remember a campaign mission from OFP where you are separated from your unit and have to make the RV, that was a rush , and also the mission where you had to escape from your captors at night , being chased by a bmp across open fields in pitch black..total immersion... good times

Highlander if you have an issue with our server and admins, then please post on our forum where it can be discussed, ranting on a public forum is not the right place for this.
-
Sadly there are, in the dying days of OFP multiplayer maps were increasingly ruined by this kind of behaviour, along with the sudden appearance of walls around the island, raining boats, etc basically retarded actions of an infantile mind, but they do exist and it seems they are becoming more and more prevalent in ArmA.BiS needs to act quickly before this reaches epidemic proportions and ruins a game before it really gets going.

That system in my opinion of BF2 was one of the main reasons there were so many dickheads and point farmers. Join a clan's TS during a clan match and listen to the control and coordination as they work as a team , the squad system works excellently in this scenario, you just will not find it on public servers, because of the random players, maybe a few from one particular clan are on TS and will control a certain area but the majority of the players are operating o thier own with no other coordination other than what can be typed into the side channel , whereby the recently killed can give a rough location of the enemy. But a point system will be a backward step in my opinion. Also ArmA is not BF2 and will not benefit from this system as a means of encouraging teamplay it will lead to points farming, chuck in weapon unlocks as well , and you will see,' cool i only need 200 more points and i can get the M24 .Thanks but no thanks, BF2 was for me probably the worst fps i ever played for that reason alone, the effects were ok but it was an arcade game not a sim, there is a massive difference and the implementation of point would be unworkable, i dont wish to sound hostile in this reply, but the only team/squadwork you will hear is on ts with an organised unit be it in a co-op or multiplayer in a clanwar.
