  1. Let's all hope Ubi does not corrode the hands of BIS. I don't want to see OFP get turned to sh*t like they did with the Rainbow Six franchise. If Ubi has any, and I do mean any influence on OFP2, you can bet I will not spend a dime on it, or any other BIS product afterwards. Strong words, but I do mean them. It was extremely disheartening when I bought not one, but two copies of Rainbow Six: Raven Shield, and saw what they did to the series. The only comfort I had was knowing OFP (and Combat Mission by Battlefront.com) was still around for my "war-gamer" needs. I have full confidence Battlefront will never stray from their hardcore realism edict, but with the more mainstream developers it's still a big ? as to what they may do when presented with $$$$.

    Ofp 2 slogan

"The first rule of OFP2 is you do not talk about OFP2"
  3. It's very simple, they took a look at where the industry was at and decided they would need to do extra work on OFP2. Like I said before, the fact that it's at least a Spring 2006 release date is a good thing because it means they are not just rushing OFP2 out the door to get it on storeshelves. As for their decision to make OFP Xbox, and whether it was a bad idea or not, we won't know for sure until it's released. If it sells like hotcakes, then BIS makes money, and that's a good thing. They're in the business for money afterall, it's not just some hobby as some of you seem to think. On the otherhand, if OFP Xbox fails miserably, then I think PC users can acknowledge the right to say "I told you so." Good to know, thanks for the heads up.
  4. OK, so I'm screwed out of VBS1. Anyway, back on topic. I can't believe how whiny this community is. Where were most of you that you're actually surprised by this new release date? Unless you had your heads up your collective asses, it was quite evident OFP2 was not going to be released anytime soon. I'm starting to feel sorry I nagged BIS so much about being upfront with the community, I had no idea they would react like this. Bitching and moaning will not get OFP2 completed any quicker. Bottomline is with the Spring 2006 release date, that means there's a good chance OFP2 will be a quality product, not a rushed one. I know, I know, if they hadn't started working on OFP Xbox, we likely would not have to deal with this delay, but the fact of the matter is BIS needs to make money like any of us. As long as OFP2 and OFP Xbox are treated as two different products for two different types of people, I will be pleased. I'm just hoping OFP2 will cater to the "war-gamers." Now, if only I could find a way to buy VBS1. And you know this how? Not to sound condescending or anything, just wondering if you're actually stating fact, or an opinion based on something you've read somewhere.
  5. OK, I see all these people saying they want to buy VBS1. Unless I'm completely lost, it clearly states on the VBS website: Now, how is it that you people are buying it? I asked before, and instead of an answer I got a smartass remark.
  6. Is this even true? I checked the VBS1 page, and it's not sold to civillians. If there are civillians with it, may I ask how can I go about purchasing 2 copies for myself? Anyone?
  7. At least they've now come out and admitted the true release date. This is what many in the community have been nagging BIS about. Many of us knew there would be a huge delay because of work on OFP Xbox, and some of us predicted the 2006 release date long ago, it was just a matter of getting BIS to be upfront about it. As for whether they don't care about the PC community, that's up for debate. The test will be whether OFP2 will be a progression towards a "war-sim," rather than a rehash of OFP with prettier graphics incorporating "console-friendly" features.

    Update site?

I need it! The problem is they mentioned it, now I must know! It's like when someone says "I was going to tell you something, but nah, forget it." As soon as they say that you have to know. Valve Software tried to play it safe by waiting until the very end (or so they thought) before even acknowledging that HL2 was on the way. It was supposed to be released that September, ofcourse we all know now they were quite a bit too optimistic. BIS and Codies don't have the option now of keeping the cat in the bag for so long.

    Update site?

You guys really should take a look at the OFP2 forum over at the Codies' site. We've been talking about this same topic in several posts.

I just want to know one thing

This same thing has been discussed over at the Codies' OFP2 forum for many months now. Here's one of the latest threads on it. It was started back in 2002, and has been responded to as recently as today. Only two pages though.
