I'm really enjoying LOMAC now... I made this mission just to test myself against a fighter in combat. I took off from a conventional runway in an SU27 with R-73s and R-27s. An F/A-18c takes off from a carrier around 80km away, loaded with AIM-9 and AIM-7. He fired an AIM-9 and an AIM-7, both of which missed. We then got into extremely close within visual range battle... and I couldn't get the bogey off my tail, until I remembered the cobra manouver. I performed it, and aquired the target with the helmet system... fired off an R-73... ka-boom. I've also mastered landing all the aircraft on conventional runways. It's fun. Though I'm still baffled with landing the SU33 on the carriers...

Yeah, I was training myself with the SU33, and was trying to land on a carrier. I kept spinning too fast on my turns and getting a maximum angle of attack + minimum speed. Luckily I knew just how to get out of that... Oh, and I love the MiG and SU27/33 radar system... that point and click targeting system. Sooo good. Though I don't know if it's on the F15c, because I haven't checked yet. Until I get my PC upgrade (which is soon) I have to have everything at minimum settings. This doesn't really bother me as much as it would some people, because I believe in solid gameplay over flashy graphics. But... that's not that the graphics aren't cool... cause they are. Just the water/terrain is kind of...... er... poo. :P My only letdown is that there isn't a US carrier based aircraft to use. I think they should of made the F/A-18c or F-14 tomcat flyable. I love either one of those aircraft so much...

I own a few things right now. An airsoft HK MP5a3 springer, SIG SAUER P228 Polezi, HK USP .40, IMI Desert Eagle .50 and used to have a Colt M16a2 w/M203 launcher. (Soon to get a Colt M733 electric) Two korean war medals.

Is this a reference to your sexual tastes?

People who use the "This game is shit, it's unrealistic, has a health bar, bitch bitch, gripe, moan, etc..." Gaming was never founded on realism, people! Saying a game is bad because it's "arcadey" isn't that fair... especially when you play Flashpoint, of all games. Come on, do you really think flying the aircraft in OFP is really that realistic? Then again, I'm that wierd black sheep that likes console/arcade stuff just as much as PC gaming... Oh, and Far Cry looks class... very halo-esque in the combat dynamics. (Being able to throw a grenade with a single button instead of scrolling through weapons is pretty cool.)

It wasn't her fault, she tested the non-binarised version, which worked fine. I should have checked it after binarising it so if you blame anyone, blame me Okay DM... take off your shirt, I need to test out this here whip... Nah, only joking. Downloading 1.2 now... These are a really good addition to the game. Because sometimes a BMP escort for a convoy can be a bit TOO much to take on sometimes. I like having to duke it out with a DShK armed BDRM myself.

Chopper extract problem when commanding squad
Sharia posted a topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
I know that this has been gone through several times before, but I just couldn't get anything to work. Simple scenario. Four force recon soldiers, with you in command sweep a village, and then a blackhawk comes along and picks the boys up. I used the nice and simple synchronised waypoint with invisible H method, but the helicopter just sat there and hovered. So I told my men to get in, and the helicopter dropped down, and let the guys in, and myself. But now the helicopter won't continue it's waypoints... I just want to know how to get the helicopter on the ground at the LZ, and will not take off until all party members are aboard, then it will return to waypoints... Sorry that this has been gone through so much, but I can't get anything to work. -
Oh my... another patch, already?! You guys rule. (Can't wait to test this single player campaign!)

Why is there a picture of Sgt. Sanderson from Black Hawk Down in it? That seems like a rather pointless thing to shove in. Anyway, there is no denying that OFP2 will make most/all other war sims look terrible. I mean, even OFP's engine is incredibly good. People will say "It has so many limitations!" but you can do just about anything with the OFP engine. Drive a car 4 miles across an island, jump out, shoot a few people and steal their helicopter, fly that another 5 miles, blow up some tanks, land, steal a tank, start blowing up stuff... There isn't many games where you can do this. Most games will have levels, and OFP gives you an entire set of islands to play with. Anyway, let me stop rambling. I think OFP2 may have two eras. 'nam (which I don't really enjoy the idea of) and modern day/near future. I was never a big fan of Vietnam based games, mainly due to the fact that jungle warfare can get a bit repetitive. Also, tanks and other vehicles are far less effective, so no tank wars. What is that with so many games developers? Just focusing around World War 2 and Vietnam. I've not seen one game based on the events in World War 1 or Korea. (My grandfather was annoyed at this too... he fought in Korea, and that war has basically been forgotten.) Anyway, trying to not stray off topic... I think it'd be great to see people like BAS or Earl & Suchey, assisting with OFP2. I know I'd buy it.

which side is more scared? in my case, stealth comes first. i want to get all the angles covered before doing somthing. but once the hell breaks loose, i just go nuts. Mmm, yes. Going nuts. A very fun past time. I found that the 3 round burst is very handy in those situations. Keeps heads down.

How about creating a SUPER FAST anim similar to "put satchel charge"? And give it an auto timer of 3 seconds or something....

Disabling cadet options
Sharia replied to Charlie-SWAF-'s topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
maybe make a script that detects if you are using cadet mode, and spawns 10 T80s around you with createvehicle. That should discourage them from using cadet. -
Here's a question. Is it possible to like, have a trigger activate the tailrotor script? So no-matter WHAT condition the helicopter is in, when it leaves a "west not present" or "east not present" trigger, it's tail rotor turns into a pile of poorly made scrap?

Me? I take an 8 to 10 man squad and use their abilities to the max. I often have several guys with suppressed weapons and several without. I often create multi-angle attacks on cities and villages just using one squad. It's insanely fun when it all comes into place. My other style is to make a 4 man team of specialists. Myself being the sniper, the AI slots have one medic, a machinegunner, and an AT soldier. Create as much damage with whatever equipment I have. I often have to make my AI comrades pick up second-hand russian weapons, for a low low price of... free! Got to love five-finger discount.

When enemy convoy is attacked, cargo disembarks
Sharia posted a topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Hi there guys, I'm making a mission with Suchey and Earl's USMC + Russian soldiers, and I have a russian convoy with a T72 tank, two URAL trucks and within those URAL trucks are two MORPEH squads. I want the trucks to stop and unload the morpeh guys when they're attacked in any way. Presumably "west detected by east", unfortunantly, I have no idea how to do this. Help? I'll give you a cookie. Chocolate chip. You know you want the cookie. -

It's all working quite fine now! Thanks! And the fires still eminate from blown-up stuff, so It's all good.

lol what do you expect?? They're Marines! While this is true, I'd rather not have to take 5 SMAW launcher soldiers along with me, that'd look a bit silly if you ask me. Oh, I'll be doing a "delux" version that has all the enemy soldiers replaced for EARL/Suchey soldiers, including spetsnaz, and BAS Rangers AND Marines using Earl's lovely M16s, M249s and M4s. Bit stuck on wether or not I should use BAS Blackhawks to carry the marines, though.

Okay, what happens is when I blow up something, most likely heavy armour, there's a good chance it'll CTD. I have a feeling it's the debris or fire. But I do know that it doesn't crash when ECP is switched off. My system is a 1.67ghz AMD processor with 256mb DDR ram and a geforce4 ti4600 128mb DDR. If you have any solutions, I'll be grateful.

This is just a suggestion, I've never edited a vehicle in OFP... ...But why not have the two missile racks seperate? Like, you have to cycle to them? So you'd have Rack 1 and Rack 2, Rack 1 would fire missiles from the left rack, and rack 2 would fire missiles from the right rack.
-
I'm having a slight problem with the SMAW launcher controlled by AI. Not the accuracy, no... I can work around that, but in a mission I am making 2 versions of, (BAS for one, suchey/earl marines for the other) there is an annoying problem. A T72 tank trundles down a road, and I had everyone hold fire, and then told 3, who was a SMAW launcher guy to target the T72. He did so, and I told him to fire one of his two AT rounds. The AT round blew the T72 to bits, and he said "T72 is history" so I was about to stand up, and he fired his SECOND SMAW AT round at the tank! For no reason! The fact that there's only TWO SMAW soldiers in my squad, and you have to take on a T80 and a Shilka later really messed me up. The soldiers are being too gung-ho.

Just a quick question. Is it possible to run dynamic range sounds, but not having to use ECP? I'm not saying I don't like ECP, I really love it... but my PC is as reliable as a plumber's estimate right now, and it crashes whenever I blow something up and keep firing on ECP, which annoys the crap out of me. Luckily, I'm upgrading my little baby soon to acomodate flashpoint better.

Yes, great tribute to Shugart. Also, good picture of the six-one crash site. I was actually making a mission a while ago with a UH60 crashed in the middle of a narrow alley, and both delta/rangers and an MH6 are making their way to the crash... lots of somalis attack you from several angles, too. I died alot.
