Ichthyophobe? Why are you so scared of fish, man? Here's where to get help. . . I recommend you give them a call. Ichthyophobia clinic They're called 'plimsoll' markings. They indicate the tonnage of the load the ship is currently carrying, as well as the load it is allowed to carry by season by measuring its 'draught' (depth below the waterline). you can tell looking at that ship's markings that she's on ballast, which means she's not carrying any cargo. Four altogether. two blue hulls, one in ballast (empty, riding high in the water) and one loaded with cargo (riding low); and two red hulls the same as the blue.

Well. . . I'll get the confessions out of the way ASAP, so that people aren't disappointed when it's released. . . I think it's better to release it instead of not releasing it because it has the same problems as the LST. It's 200 meters long, so that means it has geometry LOD bugs. often, if you have a boat next to it, your boat will go through because of this. if you're on deck, and you walk away from the helipad in the center, after about 30m, you'll fall through the deck. there are some visibility bugs if you're crew, and a few other things. Personally, I think it's a nice piece of scenery for cutscenes and missions with ports, and little more than that.

Well, she's based on the plans of Polsteam's 'Isa', but in fact, looks a lot more like CSL's 'Spruceglen'. But I've made the set pretty generic, so people won't keep seeing the same ship. . . the hull will come in two colours.

Vancouver, Canada, you mean? hehe. . No, I don't live in B.C. I live in St. Catharines, Ontario, at the mouth of the mighty Welland Canal. . . across the lake I can see Toronto when they don't use their cars so much.

It's not an oil tanker, it's a bulk carrier (steel, grain, etc. . .) but thanks for the comments. . .

Maybe new limitation in ofp ?

---and. . . the gunner's proxy is added to the 'otochlaven' selection in the o2 model. this allows him to rotate with the gun barrel and remain 'boresighted'. Not exactly 'realistic' in vehicles where the gunner doesn't move with the barrel, but them's the sacrifices that must be made. ..

The T-72 was a cheaper, less complicated alternative to the T-64 designed mainly for export. . . the T-80 was a *direct* descendant of the T-64.

    Lav-3 0.93r release

    >All doors and hatches open smoothly. However, the gunner >still does not appear above the turret. I suspect this will be >fixed sometime soon, with yet another release. This is impossible in wheeled vehicles. the code does not support it. We're working on a solution, but count yourself very lucky if you get it, because OFP does not allow it. >The crew of the LAV-3 and Bison, for that matter, are >regular-infantry soldiers. This is OK, considering that to the >best of my knowledge, the LAV-3 and Bison are crewed by >regular-infantry after a little course in driving the vehicle I >suspect. Yes. Correct. They're APCs, and the vehicle is considered a part of the section. >The weapon sight leaves a bit more to be desired, but since >its not all that close to a 1.00 yet, I suspect that too will be >fixed soon. Need better info on the delco sight picture. Time will tell. AFAIK, this picture is correct, it just needs to be a bit better in terms of image quality. The current one is lifted straight from the vehicle manual. >1) The sight-mounting seems to be detatched from the rest >of the turret, remaining directly infront of you even as the >rest of the turret gyrates up and down or left - right behind >it. 'incorrect', yes, but not a bug. this is the only way to get optics to work with wheeled vehicles. The 'car' class doesn't support tank-style turrets, so we had to fool it a bit to get it to work. Apparently, the zoomed optic function is what causes the vehicle to shake, so there's probably no fix short of a BIS patch for any of this (and we all know how unlikely that is). > It is impossible as of now to walk into the infantry bay. If you were to walk in, you'd fall out if the vehicle started moving. This won't be implemented.
  9. I've seen several wheeled vehicles, including some of my own, that uncontrollably shake and rock in certain situations. . . some more than others. Anyone know what causes this? How to stop it?

T-62, actually. . . look at where the fume extractor is on the barrel.
  11. Yeah, but I've been jimmying with that, and can't get any results. . . What I need is a clear answer.

    Lav iii and bison released

They're all going to be re-released in updated versions. The russian tanks by RHS and the Canadian tanks by Northstar. keep your eyes peeled.
  13. you moved them so that they were under the ground? or you moved them so they weren't? [edit] Doesn't matter anyway, because I have it both ways and it still happens. . .

Well, not to be down on the US Army or anything, but it's no mystery that the word 'recce' is not in their vocabulary. . . (let's try to go for the *triple* entendre. . . Â Â ) The American concept of recon is quite different in application than the Canadian idea of the same thing. . . no mystery that we do it differently than they do. just a question? Where did they get the Coyotes? on loan?

    Lav iii and bison released

Oh. It's a very different vehicle. The LAV-III is a LAV/Piranha 3, and the Coyote is a Piranha 2. It's a completely different hull. . .  The only thing they have in common, actually, is the delco turret. The Coyote is actually a recce vehicle, and the only one of its kind in the world. It has a massive, comprehensive sensor suite that can be installed and extended on a ten meter mast, or set up incognito near the vehicle. there's only room in the back in the DFSV version (which is actually a conversion), as the recce vehicle has the rear area taken up for the Surveillance NCO's suite. some data on the sensors in the Coyote: "The ‘hi-rez’ video camera, ‘FLIR’ thermal imager, and laser rangefinder are mounted at the very top of the mast.  Just below is the mounting platform for the surveillance radar.  These sensors can detect a  moving man at 3km and a moving vehicle up to 12km away  according to the manufacturer of the Coyote’s sensors, General Dynamics. Coyote is the best of its kind but will the CF maintain its current lead with future advances?"  -CASR DND 101 CASR DND 101 "Coyote LAV-Recce" The first version I'm releasing though, is the DFSV. I may do a Recce version, but it will be static, because the sensor suite takes 20 minutes to set up.

The LAV-3 was made from line drawings, so if it looks to tall and narrow, it might have something to do with screeen resolution (some modes compress the image). Between the Bison and the LAV-III? hehe, perhaps you need to place them side-by-side and examine them closely. . . They're fundamentally different vehicles. Earlier in this thread (or maybe in the 'in progress' one) I posted a link to the Mowag site, which has a set of descriptions and photos of the distinct hull types, but they also have some pretty distinct differences up top. . . As for the use of the 25mm Bushmaster, it's defensive, and it's also meant to give the APC a fire-support capability, so it can support its own infantry section, instead of having to rely on other vehicles exclusively for that role. (like Coyote DFSVs, which have the 25mm as well, or Cougar DFSVs, which have a low-pressure 76mm gun)

Ask Matthijs Crielaard If you don't want to see that, take the helmet off before you enter the vehicle.

That's what I was saying. I figure, since it's an APC, you can just have the Section Commander board there (squad leader in US terminology). Anyway. . . time for some screens: ASLAV-25 ASLAV-25 rear USMC LAV-25

I've discovered why the 'guy sitting out front' bug happens, and as a result, I have no choice but to make the commander's position into a cargo position. . . (doesn't work properly anyway.)

Thjey're not corrupted, it's your software. download the latest version of WinRAR or download WinZip As for controlling the vehicle with the Commander, it is possible, except that the commander tries to give orders to the vehicle like it's tracked. not really that big a thing, since you do get used to it, you just have to make sure that if you give a turn order, the driver has some good speed. You just have to get the knack of it beyond that. Also, if you're using the command view, it will engage and destroy targets for you. So far, twice I have heard about that 'no target, no target' bug, but I haven't been able to reproduce it. It seems to only happen occasionally. . . on certain systems? The LAV III is significantly different from the LAV-25. . . Different enough, in fact, that it's basically a completely different vehicle (it's in any event, a *completely* different hull). As I said before, however, I'm in the process of making a Coyote, LAV-25, and ASLAV, so don't worry about it, Miles.

My mistake, Australia does, indeed, use the Bison, the ASLAV PC is a Bison, except that it has a .50 instead of a 7.62. (although AS does use the FN MAG, so I'm quite sure many of them mount that same MG.) And yes, I'm aware that the textures need to be improved. Quite likely, as time goes on and new things are done on the way to the full complete version, the textures will be improved (in fact, that's very much the idea). What you may not have noticed is that this has been very vocally described as a BETA. As for the lag you're getting, this is a pretty High poly model, so it probably has a lot to do with your system specs.

I'd rather you didn't distribute an edited version. . . The ASLAV will be released soon, and there's little reason to use a LAV that is not the correct vehicle.

    Lav iii and bison released

They're infantry section Carriers. There's no 'crew' to speak of, they're run by, and part of, an infantry section. Can't make optics for the Commander, it's one of the many limitations of the wheeled class. . . if you want him to see the battlefield, the command view (external) is your only option.

    Lav iii and bison released

Yeah, in fact, the ASLAV is basically a one-off of the USMC LAV-25. They're confusing for the first bit, yeah, but once you get used to them, you see that there are three distinct types (1, 2, and 3) and then it's all about the number of wheels and more cosmetic differences. If you go to the Mowag site: Motorwagenfabrik, there's likely a very good guide tot he distinctions. I'm thinking about making an ASLAV for when the Coyote releases.
