Nice I put the 2 coops and the C&H on our server - renamed to new convention, it would be nice if you renamed them as standard - see this thread http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....t=26694 Naval Base is the only one I tried so far but it runs nicely on our server and I like the concept. Nearly beat it first time with no artillary and full squad (well I think we nearly cleared village) seemed a lot of spawns ... with artillary it was easy to lose your lives - lol

Pity your not in Japan, Look at this quote from someone i know out there (In fact you know of him - December maker of "intervention") </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">Thought I would make u guys sick. Fiber optic connection is now in my area, 100mb download, for the exorbitant price of 22 Pounds per month! Unfortunately, due to the distance, even if I get it my ping would still be crap. they lay fiber optic cable direct to your house. It has taken about a year to get to my area. They started in Tokyo and worked their way out. It is the Japanese government that are pushing it, they want Japan to lead the way in IT. They want the general public to be hooked up to the internet <span id='postcolor'> Everyone could host 10 OFP servers on there home connection.

Yes basically you get your ofp to the most recent patch, upload it to your server alond with the files from the linux server patch. Then use this threads info to make a start/autorebooting OPF-R linux server. http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....;t=8675 Server.cfg and flashpoint.cfg work in the same way as on a windows server. Check your ofp CD for DS-Admin.rtf for more info on general server configs.

Personally I think that OFP has a good 2 years left in the ghame engine, Resistance brought it up to speed with current graphics quality and a better net code. Independence Lost may add some extra stuff. I think the OFP community is going from strength to strength. The MP community is getting better and better gaming as more and more powerful servers are used as this is the limiting factor in MP Gameplay. Most servers are now 2-3Ghz, when i started playing OFP online most servers were 1-2Ghz, the extra power really does make the differance.

You are of course right .... even if its taken you 2 years to figure it out. I guess your not a Christain

Thanks Placebo, those were the links i was looking to give.
-
the other option would be just to leave the server up 24/7 !!!
-
It just shouldnt be that way, I guess it not because you're running KAzza or something in the bacground thinking your Bandwidth can now handle it but forgetting Kazza takes a lot of CPU sometimes?. If i was at home i could copy a link for DSL testing website and tuner. I think it was on dsl-reports.com or something. Well there are a few speedtest / line test websites out there I suggest you check out your connection.

Help! hey it wont let me upgrade my ofp!
Skunk Monkey replied to BirdKilla's topic in TROUBLESHOOTING
Both, and I also use -mod directories. Cant remember if i had to make the /addons directory myself after the install or not. -

I didnt bother with 1.2 1.3 1.46 when i re-installed 1.90 a few months ago, I still get the directory and everything still works. -

Why update to Version 1.3 anyway? Just do 1.0-1.75, then add the 1.90 or 1.91(beta) patch. no need to 1.0 - 1.1 - 1.2 - 1.3 - 1.4 - 1.42 - 1.46 - 1.75 - 1.85 - 1.90 - 1.91 -

AI respawn (group respawn) is OK. OFP is about Stealthing around kiling while not being killed, if your going to charge in, kill 4/5 enemy, die respawn and do the same again until 30 mins is over it just doesnt make best use of the Sim nature of OFP.

Why not just SSH in with "Putty" or similar program. Linux is designed for remote accessing. Look in the "Autostart server" thread http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....;t=8675

I think the general agreement for bandwidth requirements is a minimum of 2Mbit upload, preferablly 5Mbit. Anything above will never get used although most commercial hosters are on at least 100Mbit. Also the more power your CPU has the more bandwidth it will use if available. Note to Shrike : You also have to consider that although I have unlimited bandwidth from my ISP included in the monthly cost I must keep a password on the server. This is the only way the ISP limits me. </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">But I agree the price you're paying is very good considering the powerful hardware you have! <span id='postcolor'>

Kegety's Spec mode is FANTASTIC, Daddl (Joltan) has also altered this to be able to swap between Seagul mode and Spec. mode, just land your 'gull to get back to spec mode and seagull mode can be selected like any other view. Its a pity the 1st person mode Kegety's experimented with is bugged (you can use the players action menu).

Hmmm When OFP-R had just come out I was playing away happily and all of a sudden my computer crashed and wouldnt restart. I bought a new HDD and managed to get 80% of data back off old drive which I relegated to my 2nd Drive. At the time I thought maybe my HDD had crashed but its worked fine as second drive since, maybe it was OFP although i never considered it till reading this thread.

We have traced the problem to bad XML's. Well XML's that did work, but now dont, I'm hoping to send BIS all the info I have. As soon as the players concerned send me there XML address and userinfo.cfg.

You say you upgraded to XP. I think here is the reason, XP itself is taking more RAM and CPU away from OFP, thus reducing your performance. With only a PIII 1Ghz I would stick with 2000. New CPU, motherboard and GFX card wouldn't do any harm Your machine should be fine to run OFP with 98 or 2000.

1.3Gb /day Thats the average on my server. I have unlimited Transfer. So Shrike you bought your server and pay €50+€150 a month? Makes my server seem Cheap @ €150/month including the rent of the hardware.
