Good Points (Client) With 1.94 and nomap I can now run with ALL my addons without the dreaded Green Screen. Bad points (Win Server) In MP players connecting/disconnecting without the needed addons can cause server to hang. (Files now sent to BIS for review ;)) (SES tried 1.94 server for 24Hrs with 10 crashes due to this, now back to 1.92)

I was wondering if anyone had a 3Ghz OFP server yet?? Or what is the fastest server in the community?? I know my new one wont be as I belive SWEC have a XP2400 overclocked to 2.7Ghz, I know Shrikes Zues servers are pretty fast on 2.2Ghz. Stoners and Fraghaus have usually been pretty fast too. So Come on who reckons they have the fastest server in the community, someone out there got a overclocked 3.06Ghz ?? Would have to be 100Mbit connection to unleash the tru speed !!!

A medium use dedicated server will use less than 100Gb/month if it has 100Mb connection. SES server which is used around 20 hours a day, 7 days a week (with TS server@26Kbit codec 0.7Gb/day), uses 170-200Gb/month. I belive that Zues twin servers use around the same amount, again back-bone connected.

SES play 98% Coops for 4-36 people, busiest coop server I think. We are DEFINATLEY NOT seroius !!! Well only about having fun and good teamwork in missions. Call in 24/7 we have great connection to US and Europe, less than 120 ping unless your West Coast US or your connection sux. server pass = ses

Just spend the €25 and upgrade to Resistance, its well worth it.

CPU depends entirley on map, a complex coop map has no chance even with 2 players, a simple CTF/DM you could get 12 but only if you reduce your graphics settings (and therefore your CPU load) If you ran your machine as a dedicated server with your 768 upload and a simple map you could probably get 16 people on it, would be good if you had a second PC to connect to it with, you would get better performace using that machine as a dedicated server and playing on a old 800Mhz or something you may have lying around. Remember when you host games your machine is doing 2 jobs, your normal "Client" and the server. and therefore CPU power is split between the 2. You'll find your graphics slow down before your players notice any lag. Its the host who suffers first.

Will put it on SES and give you some feedback.

We replaced the Motherboard .. that was the problem.

mads. I checked my firewall rules that allow me to play OFP. I'm no interent wizard but my firewall only allows me to play OFP if the remote port is 2303 the local port is 15015 or 15020 and protocol is UDP/IP Dont ask me to explain this ....

More BAS coops on our server ... if you have our addons come and join for a few games.

SP or MP ? Coop ?? A&D ??

OK so it was a Blantant plug to advertise my new server. Thanks to all those who have come to play and enjoyed playing coop with us. All you new regulars and visiting Clans. FGG - Fun Gamers Germany LDD Kyllikki §uicide §oldiers REBEL Clan MAKO VetServer Team Sure we'll see you playing again on the server, and thanks for all your kind comments Remember SES is a PUBLIC server with pass=ses (just keeps out the nOObs:P)

lol 1Kb, I thought SES had a low custom file limit @ 22kb, and a script which deletes all but your first custom sound.

I guess he was taking the piss benu ;) Just a note on "copying your windows installation" If you are uploading on a slow connection why not make use of kegety's tool which compress all NEEDED files into a nice compressed tar file to save space by compressing and leaving out the files a dedicated server doesnt use. http://koti.mbnet.fi/kegetys/flashpoint/linuxarch10.zip

Just buy a router instead of a hub.
-
I also saw you trying to connect to mine ... and getting kicked for addons. Anyone downloading the SES modules should not they install to mod folders and will only load the addons if you use the shortcut the installer creates.

I play like 99% MP, so its map dependent. A recent God-Send was this Script. http://daddldiddl.de/pafiledb31/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=12

We have Nam missions, but havent been playing them alot recently.

when you say your own dedicated do you mean a seperate machine on your LAN ? or just hosting while you play. If its the latter then the problem is you are running your game and a server on the same machine, so even a 3ghz is like a 1.5ghz server + 1.5ghz client. Its not quite that bad, but you get the idea. I found when i upgraded to 1024RAM that it helped with the extra load of hosting, but mainly is CPU lag resulting in choppy graphics. I turn my graphics down from 1600*1200*32 on my G4-4400Ti to 800*600*32 when i host map tests. Best to use a old, if slow machine a s server, 1Ghz work fine for small number of people on uncomplex maps, CTF, simple coops.

and for those who cant be bothered to read that, I think this is the fastest of Vets 3 servers he runs on his LAN.

VON (voice over net) only works with Directplay (old netcode) not sockets (new and better netcode). Use a third party voice com (TeamSpeak or Roger Wilko) or use the directplay netcode. ( -dplay on your win32 server startup if dedicated) Whichever machine is "host" before you click "new" in MP screen click the "sockets" so it says "directplay", you have to do this on the "client" as well.
