What servers do all the people on the forumsplay
SyxPak replied to Koolkid101's topic in MULTIPLAYER
Does anyone have the IP:ports of any european servers? (Irish ;) / UK would be preferale) I'm having a bit of hassle getting the ASE installer to connect to the program server. I'm assuming it's something to do with NAT or server-side initiated connections on a different port, but bottom line is i can't search for servers. Using HLSW as a stop-gap measure. -
Yeah, projectors kick ass We (Compsoc) brought one home one evening after giving a Flash tutorial or something in the college and hooked it up to my box. Watch Ghost in the Shell on it and I played a bit of Crimson Skies (only thing I had lying around) with the joystick. It was a bit laggy when turning, but was bright enough to playith on a blue painted wall. I'd seriously consider getting one when I can afford it (4+ years time?). It was a CTX LCD something or other, 800x600 @ 75hz, not great, but it was on loan and was pretty old.

I don't call that cheating. It is unrealistic, but it's within the bounds of the medium. Like theavonlady said, play with more mature players who have cop-on, not some gang of 12 year old muppets fresh from CS on gamespy.

*ahem* Linux version? Where would one go to obtain the beta client updates? I assume they don't replace your exes, but rather sit along side it.

Could one of you email/pm me a copy of your flashpoint.cfg ? My home machine has no net access atm and it's (hopefully) the one thing that's holding back the server. I'd write one myself but I've damn-all experience with running ded-servers. syxpak >at> frink >d0t> nuigalway >d0t> ie Thanks in advance

RE: Kegety's script, {edit}ran it on an NT4 box (SP1 I think - Dx3 anyways - in college) and got some hassle over it. It couldn't find a few addons(which werent' there after installing Flashpoint on the machine in college and directly installing resistance ontop of v1.00). I'm assuming the addons are in the 1.2-1.46 patches.{/edit} Tis working now. Will post up IP of server when it's running (box going to be changed from BSD to Linux). Afaik it's a dual 1gig.

what sort of spec machine would be needed to host say 10 people in a normal team deathmatch game? Looking at setting up (what I believe to be) the first Irish OpFlash server.

I bought between the lines. It doesn't work. Requires EditorUpgrade102, which I have, and which it can install itself, but which it doesn't recognise. I'm currently running 1.75 and 1.46, but neither will let the campaign's cutscenes or briefings run correctly. A waste of €17 euros, and not even any new add-ons or islands ffs

class I've patience, plenty of it, was just wondering Does it use UDP or TCP ports? I ask because I might be able to bounce itout through the firewall in college and host my own server. Aside: It only uses one port, am I right? It doesn't need a seperate query port or seperate TCP/UDP?

Will we ever see them? There area few people I know with nice connections who'd be only too happy to host a server for the (currently smallish) Irish Flashpoint commuinity if there was a beard server. Any word? Even simple *n*x compiles of the exes and dlls etc. would be grand. Is it something to do witht eh protection system?
