    Total sound loss

I have read several threads regarding this subject already on these forums, but all the suggested fixes did not work in my case, so I thought perhaps I'd present it and see if anyone has any ideas. After starting a mission in Flashpoint within 10 seconds, the sound cuts out. Â Almost always within 1 second of the same place, time and time again. The sound doesn't cut-out if I don't start a mission though. I can listen to the music in the menus forever with no problem. My soundcard drivers are up-to-date, I've changed my Det drivers per someone's recommendation, and I changed the priority level in which XP handles resources so that Flashpoint gets "High". The only possible thing that I've yet to do is reinstall DirectX8.1, and that's because it's impossible to find it downloadable on the Net because it's pre-installed in XP. Â If it's possible to pull it off the XP disk, and someone knows how, that'd be one possible step. My relevant computers specs are: AMD T-Bird 1Ghz 448MB PC-133 RAM 32MB GeForce2 GTS (tried Det 21.83, 27.xx, and 12.11) Ensoniq 1869 Soundcard (disabled EAX and Hardware Acceleration) WindowsXP Professional I've run OPF on this hardware set-up in the past, without XP and DX8.1. Â So, there's little chance of it being a hardware issue. Â Note that the same error occurs whether OPF is v1.0 or v1.42. The card tests fine in DXDIAG, and a simple quitting of Flashpoint fixes the problems; i.e. it doesn't take a reboot to regain sound on the PC as a DX issue would tend to do. It purely affects Flashpoint, and restarting the software cures the problem until whatever causes it happens again. I appreciate any assistance, -Sigma
