I just tried this mod and it really kicks ass...a couple of things I noticed, though, that you may or may not be aware of... 1)  The M136 that my buddies are lugging around is a really old-looking blocky one...HYKs guys (and even the De/Ras) on their own use a newer-looking version - I didn't use an older JAM file...is that an addon mixup or a bug?  No web space at the moment but I'll try to get a pic for comparison... *edit* got pics, I can mail them if you want. 2)  The recoil on the SAW - did you *really* have to change it  From what I hear Earl had it modeled pretty well as the SAW is very easy to control. 3)  The M9 still has the wrong mag capacity. 4)  Can you change the cannon round capacities on the Cobra and Apache?  the Apache really carries something like 1200 rounds for the gun IIRC. 5)  With the MARPAT upgrade by Mako, the AI can (sort of) use the Javelin now...can you replace the Carl Gustav with it? Sorry if these have been mentioned before

Nogovan Armed Forces Project
AdmiralKarlDonuts replied to Supah's topic in ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
IIRC the L96 and the PSG1/MSG90 series rifles (first by AI, the second by H&K) are very expensive...I'd think that in keeping with the small low-budget nature of the Nogovan Army they wouldn't be spending their cash on those models. Â Besides, as Sole said, they are fairly modern weapons. -
Lol, HYK's Ultra soldiers fire the equivalent of LGBs from their weapons

Hmmm, works for me...as with most of their links you sometimes need to just keep trying before it works. Here's the item itself instead of a direct link - can't find any mirrors anywhere else. http://ofp.gamezone.cz/index.php?showthis=4246

How about a Spec Ops campaign? This one is over a year old but I just discovered it last week...pretty good so far; I'm about halfway through. ftp://www.gamezone.cz:8021/ofpd/maps/campaigns/OpMercCmp11.zip And the addon pack: ftp://www.gamezone.cz:8021/ofpd/unofaddons/OpMercAddonPack.zip It has some village-clearing, some pre-assault sniper work, E&E, hostage rescue, tank-stealing (well, it was supposed to be sabotage but they were unlocked )...it might not all be fresh material but it's executed well. Â I like it

the ak with recoiling barrel
AdmiralKarlDonuts replied to bmgarcangel's topic in ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Yeah seems doable since we already have animated weapons...Combat's M-2's recoil realistically and Homer's .45 has a working slide, just to name a couple. I'm not an addon maker but I would assume it's very possible based on those and others. -
Updated UH-60 Blackhawks for OFP

Ahhh....I gotcha. Dunno why that's never done, actually -
Updated UH-60 Blackhawks for OFP
AdmiralKarlDonuts replied to Silent Pro's topic in ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
OFP only allows one driver position...there's a thread on this in Editing and Scripting - you'll have to use a script to make the pilot and copilot instantly switch positions when the pilot dies. Also, the USMC uses the UH-1 Huey as it's utility chopper, and the CH-46 is the medium-lift chopper. Â AFAIK both are under construction - NZXSHADOWS is the author, I think. But I'm glad to see somebody working on regular Blackhawks - IMO we have plenty of Special Ops variants (which personally I never use). Regular UH-60s will have a permanent place on my HD. -
Wow, they look great! Any plans for an M-14 SOPMOD?

Are you planning on using the MARPAT JAM magazines? It's an extremely small download which adds JAM versions of all of Earl's weapons...only bugs I've found in that file is a typo on the M16M203 classname and no shadow on the M249 Para w/Aimpoint... The JAM mags and firing sounds are used, but Earl's reload sounds are still there. Since you gave the HYK guys Earl's weps already it won't make much difference but I figured I'd suggest it anyway

The enemy could listen to US radio frequencies, or they could determine your location based on your signals. Â I'm not in the Army so 100% sure on this stuff, but certainly they take precautions to safeguard the important stuff. Â I would guess that most tactical communications would be broadcast in the clear since there isn't time for the intel guys to get the information up to the front lines in time for it to make any difference in a battle. Â The US PRC-126 short-range radio looks very much like a Motorola walkie-talkie with a few extra bells and whistles, so I doubt they've put any sort of encoding on it. Strategic or command transmissions are, as I understand it, kept pretty safe with encryption, and satellite radio signals are (IIRC) extremely hard to intercept. Rangers and most SF guys use SATCOM satellite radios (a la the BAS Rangers) because they need to be able to communicate orders, positions, etc. without having them intercepted. As for hearing all that stuff during an operation, it probably varies from Army to Army and year to year. Â If you're not carrying a radio or standing near someone who is, you're most likely not going to hear all that.

COMBAT! HEMMT Pack Public Beta
AdmiralKarlDonuts replied to Rudedog's topic in ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Very nice gear here...you guys are my favorite addon team right now So since you already have a refuel version, are you planning on ammo and repair versions? That would be very sweet, as I imagine their cargo capacity dwarfs that of the 5 tons. Hmmmm don't they use HEMMT cabs to tow Patriot launchers, too? -

Hmmm...well... If you dig deep enough you'll find out apalling stuff like this about every country's military. *slowly backs away before all hell breaks loose* -
Chemlites, I believe they're officially called. Dunno much about them but they are used. Link to US Army document "Limited Visibility Operations Under MOUT Conditions" - appendix to an FM. http://www.globalsecurity.org/militar....ppi.pdf

...exposed several years back in James Bamford's "Body of Secrets." Written, IIRC, at the Kennedy team's request.

Yep, go into the room to the right of the green wall thingy and start moving all the furniture around - under the bed there's a trap door. You can monkey around with the laser barriers once you get down there but it didn't help me any.
-
Lol, that's where I gave up too. I don't think it's possible to get the whole wall green either, though have you been into the basement? You can't do much 'cause of the stupid laser barriers, but I assume that's where you're supposed to go when you figure it out.

Here's a hint... color

You know, Earl has an M16A2 in the Assault Pack.... But if you're sticking with INQ weapons, alright -
Y2K3 - Updated Ofp Config.
AdmiralKarlDonuts replied to Pappy Boyington's topic in ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Definitely put in the M249....it's an automatic rifle as opposed to the M240, which as has already been said is more like the M60. Anyhow, I'm just wondering...does the latest version have all the new Combat addons in it? Â Also, how about adding a fixed M9 as the standard sidearm rather than the .45? Â (I love the 1911 but it's not in use anymore ) Just as an aside, I was hacking up HYK's dudes to give them all Earl's weapons...I recommend doing that if you haven't already -
LOL HAHAHAH Denis Leary and OFP....a perfect mix! Excellent work
