Miss:the pass (after fireworks) help ! - spoiler
Storm_Chaser replied to rimblock's topic in GENERAL
This is actually a pretty easy mission. First, when you start, load as many of your men as you can into the two tanks at the top of the hill and tell them to wait. Second, run to the crates, grab a mine and as many satchel charges as you can. Run down to the waypoint, and place the mine smack dab in the center of the road (after the UAZ has passed). Then, from there, start placing the satchels down the road a fair distance apart. I used 8 last time I played. When you need more, rush to the hill and get more from the crates. Put about 7-8 down the road almost to the crest of that hill. Then pick up a RPG and wait. The convoy will come, the first tank will bounce off the mine, and there's your key to detonate. Typically, I'm able to take about all but one tank (which is easily taken care of by my two and a RPG). Enjoy! -
Anyone using one for Flashpoint yet? How's it goin'? Any problems?

Welp, after trying it with Rainbow Six and Counter-Strike, I can say it works pretty good. I'm not horridly concerned with it being 'stable', as it can't be any worse then what they offer now. After speaking with a Verizon person, and seeing their plans, they don't plan to offer DSL/Cable in my area until 2025. Haha. Screw that, I say. And they will not lay new phone cable until 2010. If it breaks, they patch it. As they've done for the last 10 years. Since I don't play multiplayer games now, it won't be -too- big a difference, except in the speed of me downloading patches and files. As for costing more, it doesn't. It was 500 to set up, regardless of type. For one way, it was something like $50 a month for the service, I needed an ISP to go 'out' on for dialup, I needed to pay for the phone line itself, and I'm relying on two methods of data transfer, one of which in my area is highly unstable (phone). The two way was 500 for set up, and is 50 a month. Tough choice.

Oh well. It can't be any worse then 20 year old Verizon-owned phone lines with more patches then whores in New York City during Fleet Week...

So I hear. Everyone says they've heard it sucks for gaming, but I've yet to come accross someone who's actually -used- it. I tried it the other day with a quick 2 way game of rainbow six and it seemed to work good, compared to the wonderful 26.8K I've got now. Oh well, stupid Verizon.

Anyone played Flashpoint with a two-way satellite connection like DirecPC? How'd it work? Good? Bad? Woo?

My brother and I are planning to wage war on the LAN, but he's not certain if he wants to or not, so we're not buying a second copy of OpFlash yet. Does the multiplayer demo permit LAN games? Thanks! (I couldn't find a readme for it without spending a few hours D/Ling it)

Actually, it's quite possible, and plausible to jump from a helichopter. I had the honor of watching the Golden Knights at the 2001 National Boy Scout Jamboree do it. Very cool to watch (Tho, the chopper seemed to orbit forever).
